The story is about the Indian Revolution in 1920's . Ramcharan as Alluri Sitharama Raju ,a tribal leader in Andhra Pradesh state and Jr.NTR as Komaram Bheem a tribal leader in Telangana State. They fought against the Britishers. In fact they never met in reality. This is a fictional revolutionary story by S.S. Rajamouli between the two tribal leaders who fought against the British empire.

Just an FYI. Jr NTR is known as 'Young Tiger" (Telugu stars all have nicknames) so the shot of him with the Tiger was Rajamouli gifting his fans. Most of Tarak's movies have image or dialog referencing tigers. If you search a little you will see crowd reactions go even more wild at that part. Rajamouli through out his movies (since the first one until this one) has been following one mantra without fail, which is the villian should/has to be very powerful and a badass, only then the audience will enjoy the hero kicking the villian's ass! You'd hence see the British guy, catching a gun mid-air, to basically show his Power and so that he is just not another normal Villian !

Anand Shridhar The story was woven around a real life Komaram Bheem, the tribal hero (the district wherein he lived is now named after him). Alluri Sitharama Raju was another hero who fought the British in the jungles & was killed by them. The second hero in this story was named after him.
