Perth Assembly - A Scottish sword dance

An 8 person sword dance over 8 swords. Collected by Mary Isdale MacNab. Danced tomusic by piper Ian Geddes.
Originated when Perth was the capital of Scotland - a gathering is said to have taken place when chiefs of various clans assembled to swear allegiance to their king.
In the dance claymore swords are arranged in a circle on the ground, points inward, and the dance for 8 dancers performed over them.

That's not the original sword dance as taught now however it is probably more representative of the history of this After battle the Scots would collect the enemies swords and dance on them, hence the sword dance

The sword dance is an ancient cultural tradition of the Scotland, demonstration of strength, skill, and agility. The bagpipe is an instrument dating back 5000 years, the Romans recorded its use in Scotland. For my part, I have nothing but respect for these gentlemen, who represent their warrior bloodline and traditions that are their cultural identity.

@@revjamesgraham1 Hello James, I was a little more than just a highland dancer myself. I was blessed to dance before the Queen at the age of 12 in a command performance. Ranked #3 in the world back then, but that was a lifetime ago, now just getting up each morning is a blessing.
