When the inverter shuts down does it cut the power to the 24v therefor the CCA looses power and does RSD? Is the Aux connection redundant?

I'm curious about this too. Apparently it's not a simple answer. There's a bunch of people at the DIY Solar Power Forum who are discussing this very thing. Some have suggested some work-arounds.

So should the rds button shutdown grid voltage from to Inverter? Because of my case it seems like it's not . or am supposed to run a power cut off disconnect too. .. it just seems like it tries to bleed down inverter and it can't because grid voltage is still there

Great Video, I followed your instruction and RSD works, but: then I connect my CCA to 12V pins, it does not turn on, then I checked the Voltage with Volt Meter on the pins it displays 2V and looks like pins are reversed + and - . What may be the problem?

So the Aux circuit being closed causes the CCA to tell the modules to go into rapid shutdown mode? Then is the button on the side of the inverter even needed? I've watched a couple times, but I don't get how the side button is hooked up or what it's doing. Very handy that there is a 24V power supply built in.

The side button initiates RSD at the inverter and will shut off the MPPT transmitters (as well as other components), but the CCA will remain powered if it's on that 24v power supply. The side button can usually take the place of an external switch for code compliance, so if you have grid power available then you can wire the CCA into the load panel since you don't have to worry about dark start.

@@eg4electronics Ok, thanks! I actually like the idea of the CCA being powered from the battery through the 24V connection. I'm thinking that if rapid shutdown was necessary, the firefighters would have also pulled the meter (so no grid) and also the DC disconnect switch on the side of the EG4 18k (Which disconnects both the PV and Battery?) Reconnecting can be figured out later, assuming anything survived the fire. Someone told me about the link on your website to the written instructions for the CCA and external switch. Great supplement to the manual! You ought to put a link directly to it in the description.

Is any of the tigo module panel performance data available from the inverter's webui? Or would i need to use the tigo cloud?

You can use the ground to get 12v, or connect -12 and +12 to get 24

The TIGO CCA can take 10 to 25v. The official power supply that you buy with your CCA is 24v though.

@@at906 Regardless if the CCA can accept a wider voltage. See page 13, h. of the EG4 manual where it shows +/-12v. when using solely the +12 and -12 outputs. There is no mention of 24v or the use of ground to get 12v.

Yes. The provision of 2 ground is to get 12v. If you want 24, you use +12 and -12v. I suggested 12v, because the eg4 guy suggested a 12v relay. Does this answer your initial question?
