hi, one RSF admin here. The thing about pacenotes is, we all know the default codriver and pacenotes are awful. But, you can download many dozens of mods, and tweak every pacenote just how you want it to be called. That is one of the main things in my opinion that makes this the only true rally simulator. BTW the car you show at 5:29, you have the exterior model turned on and it looks way worse than it should. All cars have both the exterior model that is shown in outside cameras and the interior model that is supposed to be used in cockpit cam. This is done for optimization reasons.

it would mean total conversion of whole game included hard coded stuff that probably would be impossible to copy. the stages already look better than for example finland stages in newest wrc game... in my opinion. @@dave_-zs3qg

subjective, after 200+ hours of EA WRC, i can say that it has things it does better than RBR, main one is sense of speed 'for me' (you dont have to agree thats fine), RBR i find myself still going 5mph faster than i thought i was, but in EA WRC, you know when youre flying, RBR sense of speed visually may be more accurate, but unless you have a motion rig to convey the extra g force and subtle hints, i feel like i need the exaggerated speed sense used by more simcade Rally games either way if you cant have fun then i feel for yall, some things are better experienced when viewed through a different lens, if youre always comparing one game you love to another you just, youre always gonna have nit picks

How is RBR "underrated"? Almost every single sim racing fan thinks it's the Assetto Corsa of Rally games. The best. When it comes to tarmac rally, no other title comes close. Tarmac is almost as good on RBR as on AC, iRacing and ACC. Weird subject title.
@darthsnape Жыл бұрын
You answered your own question. "Sim racing fan" thinks RBR is unlike any. Toxic fanboys of any other game will sh*t on this game, like they always do. I highly recommend looking at this vs that physics comparison on reddit and you'll see. RBR being as popular as it is, still pisses off more people than you think. Majority of people still don't play RBR as it isn't beginner friendly or simply "too hard" or "unrealistic".

honestly, as people say "but the graphics are old and bad!" but in reality they are still more REALISTIC than in any newer rally game! just think about it. there is still nothing as immersive than RBR, even its known for its physics more but also if you seek past the low textures of graphical stuff, you will find the stages and even the graphics itself more realistic than for example in the newest WRC game! it is just pure fact.
@darthsnape Жыл бұрын
I too have found that to be the case. It is quite comparable to ATS and ETS2 in terms of graphics, and, truth be told, it's not half as bad as people say. I enjoy it.

If you can’t feel the gravel in BeamNG, you might need to take a look at your FFB settings either in game or wheelbase side. I receive a very good amount of road detail/tire suspension feel on my direct drive setup. It’s pretty easy to over smooth the ffb when getting it set up at first.

Can't get it to work, it looses my controller assignments at the start of a stage.
@waltlock8805 Жыл бұрын
RBR has become a religion. Any rally game that has different physics is deemed "wrong" because it doesn't do things the same way. Rally cars ARE responsive. The physics in modern titles IS more realistic (according to many real world rally drivers who have commented on them). Yes, the damage models are more forgiving, but you can always quit a stage on your own.
@darthsnape Жыл бұрын
As much as I would love to debate about which game is better, I think comparing them in the first place is something people shouldn’t do, considering rallying games are scarce. But I do agree with your points. Half of the internet saying what’s realistic and what’s not have no idea. So it’s heavily subjective and I do believe that whatever feels harder, becomes the new definition of realism?

Disagree. DR2.0 has added traction and stability control even with all assists off. It pushes to keep you on the road, unless you really screw up. They are all good games for their own reasons, but RBR physics are something else.
@Kulrobis Жыл бұрын
@jendabekCZ prieš 4 metus (redaguota) @Tony-1971 Actually you are not right about Codemasters games being close to a sim. Even if they tweak it to behave more realistic, it still won't be real simulation as it is not simulating at it's core. The car handling in Dirt: Rally (and all the other rally games) is a result of tweaking some parameters describing the car's handling (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lookup_table) until devs are happy with it. While this approach can lead into quite realistic handling, this simplification will always keep it quite limited as it is impossible to cover advanced aspect of the physics this way. On the opposite side, RBR is a pure simulation under the hood (this doesn't mean it is absolutely realistic!), instead of setting up a parameters describing how a car should behave, it does math modeling of all the car's components, it calculates the complex physics formulas "tires vs surface", incorporating barometric pressure, temperatures, aero-dynamics (spoilers) etc, everything based on the real-world data... the physics is the output of all of these computations (in realtime). With this approach, if the math formulas are correct (there were some bugs and missing aspects on the game release which NGP fixed) and the car's data are correct, it delivers very complex and precise handling in every situation. This is why any rally game cannot be even compared with RBR. I am not hating Dirt, just trying to explain the fundamental difference between these projects. Personally, I don't think Codemasters will ever start developing real simulation - the main reason is it takes > 1 year to learn to drive rally sim in a way which you really can enjoy and be competitive, this would make most of their customers frustrated. This is why also RBR devs went bankrupt ... (what a shame!) The second reason is that it is extremely difficult to make proper gravel simulation from the scratch (you can see some projects which tried it, like GRally, without much success).
