The Fletcher class was a class of destroyers. It's not perfect but this always felt like a fighting fletcher! good vid! fine balance of speed and data.

The interior of this ship is lacking a couple of things in my opinion: An armory and an Engine bay. Besides that, it seems weird that the elevator is towards the back of the ship, whereas you would want easy and rapid access to the turrets and bridge instead of habitations and cargo. I think this ship will still change a lot until release.

Thanks for good review Perseus 👍 i Planing to buy this ship in game as Polaris owner for smaller crew gameplay. For me this ship best looking ship in game it feels look like real frigate with cockpit on the top and guns also.

i like the Percy but that bottom turret is going to have problems aiming at some stuff. the ship is a Monitor class of ship, but more of a patrol ship or a cutter, but it must work in a small fleet a hh or polaris will work great together

I feel like it won't have a lot of trouble if you use proper tactics. It seems pretty well situated for what would equate to a ship based drive by, torpedos and the front turret for the approach, both turrets for the broadside, and then you decide if you want to circle or retreat based on your situation, the bottom turret still able to fire away of you do decide to disengage.

@@lorienninavah6696 the problem is that the turrets can only aim at the same target along a thin horizontal about the hull. this means that basically your turret gunners are just waiting for your pilot to aim the ship's exact side towards the target rather than aiming themselves. its a very silly design which doesn't make any sense to me given the ship's obviously offensive role.

I'm gonna call it now. This ship is gonna grow in size. Probably the same size as the Polaris. If it can tank two Idris size Vanduul capital ships. It has to be bigger. Not only thay, they keep listing it as a frigate.

This is a great alternative ship for a Hammerhead crew that wants to be more anti-ship. The Perseus will be a hard to beat duo with a Polaris or HHs for groups. With 35 ppl You could fully crew a Polaris, 2x Perseus, and a HH and be hard to stop unless someone raises a fleet built to take you out.

i feel like that this ship does not live up to it´s own lore. It lack´s firepower and defensive armament. The Size 7 Turrets are great, but we have to wait how the firing arcs will look like. The AA defensives are more ore less non existent at this point. Out of the 2 size 3 turrets, only one is able to actualy cover a decent field. They need to be position better, and maybe even double the amount. I would then add a couple size 2 quad turred, completly controlled by ai as point blank missile defensive. As an Patrol ship it also lacks the possibility to board another ship. It should have a small hangar in order to launch a small craft.

I think the entrance ramp on the side opposite docking port but I could definitely be wrong . But otherwise all so tight this is what I mean by “intelligent videos “

My favorite looking ship by far. Just wish it has size 8 weapons instead of 7. I feel like that would help justify the price more. It is way overpriced for what you get in my opinion.

Imagine if it had Size 6 torps instead of size 5 (they would be doing 45-50k dmg ea), now imagine it has 2x the AA turrets so it doesn't get dunked by the 1st thing fired at it, and a spinal mounted size 8 cannon that can be swapped for projectile, energy or distortion. Kinda like a baby version of the idiris Size 10 spinal mount. and lastly imagine it got a X-Small snub hanger in the very back for a single picies. it would require redesigning the engine area but its doable. that is something id buy. especially if they either got rid of the bespoke turret idea and let us swap the size 7 guns, or gave us an energy cannon version of the ship.

One minor correction; the Perseus is a corvette, not a frigate. Frigates are substantially larger, and meant as support ships for destroyers, or carry helicopters, and deploy boats (in this case, fighters.) The Idris is the only frigate in game, while the Jav is the only destroyer. Technically the Javelin would classify as a cruiser according to modern Navy classifications, not a destroyer, but maybe UK has different rules that they're basing it off of. Corvettes are the smallest, most common vessel in a Navy.

corvettes are lightly armed and very fast, pers is the most armored ship of its size when that's added and will be roughly the same speed as the hammerhead once they actually start working on the ship. Also you cant really compare the ship terms to real life, if you did this thing would be closer to a battleship. CIG did say that once armor is added smaller weapons will simply do nothing to the ship, pers will prob only be damaged by size 5 and up is what i think, size 4 will be able to shoot weak spots, speculation when it comes to that tho.

This ship is not a frigate, by definition its a corvette and it has super crappy AA including a massive blind spot on the bottom so the 1st size 9 shot at it will nuke this thing and kill everyone onboard..

@@Duffer529 I suggest looking up the definition of a modern frigate. (not the age of sail one). CIGs marketing team is just dumb af, they mislabeled it a year or 2 ago and its been stuck like that sense. Frigates are larger than corvettes, not smaller than them. they are also self sufficient, able to operate on their own, and are able to do a wide range of missions and tasks. Frigates are the smallest class of do everything ships and have a full array of weapons able to tackle any opponent be it AA, other ships, or subs, and even Anti Stalite/ballistic missile defense. Modern tasks and terms aside. Does ANY Of that sound like the Perseus? Is it larger than a corvette? is it able to fight several different types of opponents? can it operate on its own? Didn't think so. The perseus is a dedicated 1 trick pony that needs to be escorted by several other ships because its a useless self clubbing baby seal. It also exclusively hunts other corvettes and sub-corvettes like Fast attack craft (conny/redeemer/corsair sized) and is so weak to everything else it will die with the 1st size 9 fired at it cuz it completely lacks basic AA defense, especially on the bottom. They will also die hard to any Ares fighter that comes after it.. but then again its kinda suppose to die to ares fighters so thats not really a point against it. if you want an example of a frigate. then the idris is the only example we have ingame, but we might get more frigates at some point sense we seem to have so many ships of every other class and type already. also look here starcitizen.tools/Category:Corvettes and note that the perseus is referred to as a corvette class heavy gunship several times in lore.. Its pretty much ONLY the store page that has it mislabel as a frigate.

Ok that seems like enough evidence for me to read for it to seem like a frigate. I will just say though I cannot edit the video though and will keep it as a frigate just because I know more people will be at me if I say it's not one as the labels most people read about it. btw I don't mean what I said in earlier an aggressive way as it seems you may have taken it so sorry if you thought that. I just didn't see anything that said about it.

Why? A crew of only 3 people can do the same dps as a crew of 5 to 6 in a Hammerhead. When armor is in the game you need weapons like this, otherwise you have many problems with ships size M and above. ATM there isnt a single comparable ship because of the weapon size. Meanwhile you can switch the ammo, which is the first ship where this is mentioned, to be even more effective against smaller and larger targets.

@Senekha86 don't hold your breath on armor entering the game anytime soon. The underside of the ship is massively exposed, and this ship will easily be eliminated by a couple of fighters or a torpedo bomber. The ship needs a redesign.

@@HelloGamingForYou Its what the ship is designed to do. A feature not in the game in Star Citizen? Unheard of! There are way more completly useless ships in SC right now because their feature doesnt exist at all. How much damage regular fighters can deal is unknown because they will not deal much damage against the armor later on, aside from the Ares. Meanwhile are almost all ships weak against missiles / torpedos but the Perseus got 2 automated turrets against that from the beginnig. Not many ships can say that. The Idris isnt useless either just because a Polaris can 1 shot an Idris under good circumstances. Still, the Perseus has a min crew of 3. I think thats one of the biggest strong points for the firepower you get. And for PVE: when doing ERT bounties, and there will still be L ships in the future, a Perseus would be very welcome against them.

​@@Senekha86 Yeah except the turret placement is so dumb that you will very rarely do the full damage since it requires you to be perfectly lined up with your side facing the target in order to broadside with all guns on. most of the time you will only have 2 guns on. It would make a lot more sense if the turrets were both topside and staggered like ww2 battleships since then you would only have to keep your target above and in front of you to have all 4 guns on, much easier then keeping yourself perfectly horizontally aligned with your target. Yes, you would lose coverage, but wtf do you need those guns to give you coverage from? CIG have said that they will be slow rotating turrets which are slow firing and shoot slow moving projectiles. These turrets don't have a hope of shooting down fighters or bombers so whats the point of the coverage? To protect yourself from flanking sub caps? Yeah that's not a thing, by the time a huge, slow-moving sub-cap has the time to get anywhere near the range of your guns you will have had more than enough time to turn and get BOTH your guns onto them. I say go all in on the damage against sub caps (as is the ships stated intention) and move the rear remote turret to the underside as its current placement doesn't protect the ship from anything really, just a tiny angle directly behind and bellow the ship. For balance's sake I think this is way better. It doesn't add any guns to the ship, just moves them into positions that make a lot more sense. Here is a link to the layout I've been talking about. I made it in like 30 seconds in MS Paint so sorry about the quality. imgur DOT com/a/AKxPCMI If they release the ship as it is currently designed, nobody will use it for anything other than it's cool looks. It's not practical since it's so vulnerable to torps anyway, but the one thing that is supposedly can do (wreck other sub caps) its relly poorly designed to do. So in the end, as @KZbinIsAss said, the ship will be worthless.
