I thought everybody already knew. It's great for everything, but that tractor beam placement... chef's kiss. Cargo from the comfort of a recliner. Park it anywhere. Tons of shielding/hull strength. easy to park. 4 size 5's for the pilot. 174scu cargo space. Oh, and it is beautiful (on the outside at least). If you single play, it is the only ship to buy.

Taurus has always been the best bang for the bucks in game, especially for the original 150$: it has more cargo and a small footprint then the Corsair and the MSR and no problems with rockes on the ground, but it won't last. The ship will be nerfed, probably, to the old 4S4 guns, which is fine for me. At least it now has S3 turrets. Did you checked if the toylet is there as well?

It may be model-dependent. For example, the Phoenix is almost guaranteed to get split like that because it's also an exploration ship. The Taurus may or may not, and maybe the Andromeda definitely won't because it's exclusively a military ship. Just a thought. The Corsair doesn't have three skews like the Constellation series.

@@thierrybo6304 Yeah! To be honest, I totally forgot about the Aquila, lol! My theory still stands. It could happen. It would make sense. And the Andromeda should get its cargo cut in half because of the sheer amount of missiles it's carrying. Do you know if those missiles in the cargo bay are even illustrated accurately? I never bothered to count them individually. If everything were physicalized, it would only be fair that 52 missiles were accurately illustrated. Half of those are size 2.

Also, how many modern combat flight vehicles don't have their fixed guns tied to the pilot? For an advanced future, SC is getting just stupid. I pledged for the Taurus a while ago and its been one of my top ships since. I love the constellation ingame, its nice and got some pretty decent shields and it has decent firepower. Only thing its missing is manoeuvrability.

With the balance pass on multiple ships to encourage the player/tester base to adjust ships they use to a more diverse fleet, CIG will be able to get increased data sets on issues and bugs that are being masked because of focus on "meta" ship game play that naturally occures. Plus it incentives backers to purchase more ships.

The MFD's do look really promising. The HUD items with nothing behind them disappear when looking at a planet or moon. There should be tinted shading behind HUD elements so, when looking towards moons and planets, they are clearly visible.

By the way i have 6*deadbolts on my corsair and i kill every thing before there shield goes down, so for me the size 2 turrets is just a pew pew and is basically useless, if my fiend is in the co pilot it will be the same like i was shooting and if they make that the co pilot guns to go left and right and down then that will be a powerful turret

If you want more cargo, no snub and tractor beam - Taurus. If you want more hull hp more turrets and snub fighter than Andromeda. o7

Yeah, I’ve been using a Taurus in 3.24.1 for ERTs, as I can group the S5 guns into two pairs for ‘softer’ soft deaths, plenty of cargo space for two bounty missions, and the tractor turret makes unloading a lot easier. Only issue I have was one mission against a Corsair, two Connies and a Redeemer, so was torn apart by s5 guns.😂 Oh! And the Connie’s table is working again!

@@ZL8R go to the weapons page and pick 2 of them for group 1 and 2 of them for Group 0. That puts them on different triggers. Push trigger 1 for a pair and trigger 2 for a pair, or mash both triggers to fire all 4.

@@ZL8R for 3.24.1 there’s a bug that resets gun groups every time you switch to nav mode, so best to do this in MM just before approaching your target. Select weapons on an MFD, then select the guns tab. You can then select which of your guns should be in 0 or 1 which corresponds to left or right mouse button. With M7A laser cannons, a Connie will blow up a NPC Freelancer in about ten full shots

TBH... I dont think they will split the Weapons of the Cony. As a Blockade Runner / Heavy gun Boat. Putting these to the Pilot. 2 Turrets and An Ingenier/ Shild Officer. It will be fine.

The Spirit is looking great considering they're generic MFDs. I disagree that the weapons will be split. The Corsair's guns could be split because the lower pair of S5s are literally on a turret that's just not (currently) fully articulated. The Connie's can't do that because all four of the main guns are fixed.

I suggested above that the three Constellation models may take different approaches in that respect. The Phoenix may have its guns split, like the Taurus, and the Andromeda may stay as is for the reasons you indicated. At least, that's my guess.

Imo they should have lowered the ammo/cooling capacity for the pilot a little bit when using the weapons (slight nerf). When a copilot uses the weapons instead they get more power from the co pilots power resources and also the gimbal without any reduction in damage. This way we would have a smaller nerf for single pilots and a big buff to multi crew gameplay. The point that it wouldn’t make much sense in terms of real physics wouldn’t matter that much to me cause it leaves the ships being soloable while incentivizing to be played as a team. Some people in the community act like children and it’s always better to reward good behavior instead of punishing bad behavior… meaning better reward team play instead of punishing solo play XDD

Good choice Kornelius! For now I’m sticking to my ILW Taurus and not get a Corsair during IAE. I wouldn’t get an Andromeda atm because it’s more expensive for little benefit (extra S1 missiles, double body HP - but you rarely need it, snub fighter that’s rarely worth the trouble and when blown up by enemies has a chance to also destroy an engine nacelle). Meanwhile the tractor beam of the Taurus can be useful and the extra cargo opens options (like carrying a Nursa and still having room for cargo/loot). BUT… they will nerf this ship as well or they will make it less soloable. Remember the minimum crew requirement for Connies is 3! Not 1, as on the Corsair. I’m changing my fleet with upcoming engineering changes in mind, but will keep the Taurus and Caterpillar for now, though I have little doubt these will become too big of a hassle to run solo in the future - Maybe the Caterpillar will be okay solo if only running cargo and not doing battle. I have a reserve set aside in my pledge to grab new ships, like the Zeus ES and CL plus ship like the big Fury we might get. the coming two months will be interesting. o7

Yeah, after some time I decided to upgrade Corsair to C2. I need one big ship for my crew and solo i can do the cargo missions. Melted some small ships and was very happy. Will see if I am going to upgrade to Taurus just yet.

@@infinitespace239 I have a C2 atm (pledged), however I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. It would be a choice for me between the Caterpillar and C2. Both are fine for cargo, but I like the Cat a bit more (with my heart, not rationally). I'm fine running them for cargo only, as with MM the C2 (and M2) is not really able to do ERT's solo anyway because it's now too slow. Running it crewed that is a different thing, but I would think the M2 will become the better option due to armor in the future. btw, the Cat is nice multicrew as well (as long as you don't need to transport vehicles) and it will get a third shield soon (the C2 and M2 will stay at two S3 shields). The only frustration I really have with the Caterpillar is it's too small quantum fuel tank. It should at least be twice the size as even the Pontes QT needs 14K of fuel for the distance between Magnus and Terra gateway while it only has an 11K tank! Plus there are issues refueling sometimes. I would like a Hull-B I think, but that won't be out for some time. Ahwell, I'm going to check my C2 now for the cargo loops to see what I feel about it. They will downgrade the weapons to 4xS4 and then one day sell the MKII for $50 more. And probably all owners have to pay the extra charge. I've never liked the design of the ship but the MKII will definitely be much better.

Corsair gets weapon nerf, connie, which is more maneuverable and has more HP, keeps its pilot weapons and upguns the turret weapons. I do not think CIG even writes down their ideas before implementing them. I think Corsair gets more kills because it is more modern than the connie. Connie is such a meh ship being designed and built and unchanged since 8 or more years ago.

It is disappointing that CIG didn't have enough faith in their own changes (component rebalancing and introduction of engineering gameplay) to 'balance' the use of multicrew ships being flown by a single player. Instead the Corsair thing really did happen and it will suffer even more once the above changes come into effect. Even though it is clearly the best choice right now, I'm afraid I can't bring myself to get a Constellation yet because it is still a janky old design. When it gets it's gold standard pass I will consider it, but probably they will have nerfed the Connie by then. It is like Avenger One is always saying.. people won't use ships how CIG wants them to, they will just use whichever ship gives them the biggest advantage in the role they want to fulfil, even if that advantage is only 10% more than the second choice.. and I really think that as long as CIG offer variations in ship capability, they are going to have to learn to be okay with that. Otherwise, should we expect that the C2 will get nerfed now that we have cargo missions because it accounts for more cargo running missions than CIG wanted? (Please buy more Hull Cs in the pledge store) Will the poor MSR get nerfed when data running is finally added to the game and the MSR accounts for more data running missions than CIG wanted? Sometimes I think CIG should just accept they can't do it and make all ships of a given size identical in terms of cargo capacity, speed and weapon / component hardpoints. Then each ship will simply be a skin and no ship will ever be able stand out within it's class. Then people will use what they like the look of and the CIG balance spreadsheet will tell CIG that all is right with the world because all ships of all sizes are used equally. Of course.. if they did that, how would they ever get people to buy new concept ships...

I don't like the new mfd's. I use a HOTAS to fly, and assigning the power to the various systems is a disaster. With the old power triangle it was super easy and clear. For the new system you need twice as many keybinds (just for thrusters, weapons and shields, not to mention the other systems).

I own both Taurus and a Corsair. Corsair for combat and Taurus for cargo. Corsair now has no use (and $50 USD more than a Taurus). After watching the ION, Redeemer, Corsair, etc., "rebalanced" my wallet is closed. No interest in supporting this development direction. I'll let the "dedicated" fans continue to support it. ED was initially fun, but evolved to grind, grind, grind. SC - becoming super slow and one stupid design decision after another, NMS - great comeback, but arcade and I've already done everything in it. I may give X4 a try. Also, Empyrion will be free on Epic Games starting Oct 10. SpaceBourne2 is also looking interesting.

In 3.24.2, would i win a head to head against a fully manned corsair if im in a taurus? if i judge by just stats, the corsair has a lot more dps when fully manned but i think connies have better maneuverability. Im just worried about being ganked xd

Rebalanced is the lifeblood of this game, without it, we'd have a Starfield. The Constellation series like every other ship will be rebalanced to perfection, will perform the function it was intended, and none of this daft OP nonsense. It will need a crew, it will take component damage, be subject to engineering, armour rebalancing, penetration damage, enhanced scanning, fire management and life support, if anyone can balance that out solo.....well the wont of course. Multicrew is the future, forget stats they count for nothing when your solo.

MFD's are pretty but less functional. SC is becoming NMS. The Taurus was soooo much useful before they put pretty over function. The new ones also block a lot of the view. Terrible design.

I'd love to be wrong because it feels like the Corsair was done very dirty to reposition the RSI ships with 4x pilot-controlled S5s. Thing is, if they downsized the pilot hardpoints on the Corsair to S4 and S3, the output of the ship is nearly identical to a pilot-controlled 2x S5 and 2x S4 config (Corsair post-weapon split). They could then buff the remote turrets to S3 or S4, and then maybe it'd be worth multi-crew. The 3.24.2 co-pilot will now have to decide between 2x S2 remote, or 2x S5 with 30degree gimbal-motion window. Just a bad design IMO, but at least the roberts ships are better positioned in the mid to large ship lineup.

better than a corsair? you mean as a solo ship? in the multicrew ships it wont. remember the corsair still has 4 guns to control. that is alot. 2 size 5's and 2 size 4's at its fingertips. now you need for the 2 other size 5's a co-pilot. or do you rather have cig to remove the wingtip guns? and than also have the pilot have 4 size 5's only? either way the corsair was to OP imo. the connie always had those 4 size 5's. and only temporary downsized the bottom ones with 2 size 4's.. Also the andro is an gunship not a explorer.

Yes, in the current patch she is one of the best ships, especially if you want to do cargo. But so much is changing, it looks like the strength of the S3 shields will be almost halved in the current PTU and other things. I would still wait before melting down the Corsair, I suspect the Connie will also be nerfed. I have to say that I like the MFDs/cockpit on the Connie much better. But if you love your Corsair so much, just sit tight and wait and see what happens. The Connies are always for sale, the Corsair is not.
