I got my parents used Chevy’s, a 71 Caprice 4 door with a 400 and then a 73 Caprice Classic with a 454 dual exhaust stock engine. The 71 was super fast off the line, lots of low end. The 73 was completely different, slower low end but you could squeal the tires if you jumped on it at 50 to pass. Ridiculous cars for a 16 year old to drive, I got 3 speeding tickets my first year driving lol. Great stuff Ryan and Rob.

The part about the dad asking the right questions after the accident reminds me of my dad telling me numerous times how he was at a traffic light once and got rear ended. He called his dad from the hospital after going there for neck pain and his dad's first words were I can't believe you wrecked my car. My grandfather was a great guy, but that was the one thing that always ate at my dad because he never asked how he was doing. I heard that story at least ten times. Cut to about ten years ago, I'm driving about 25 MPH on a rainy road and this guy making a left in front of me starts to turn then quickly stops, so I didn't hit the brakes, but I went towards the center of the road to avoid the front of his car...then he floors it and goes almost nowhere because it's raining and he got no traction. I turned just enough to barely clip the back of his car. I called my dad to tell him about it and his first words were I can't believe you got in an accident on my insurance, you know that's going to cost me money. About 40 years of his dad not asking about if he was okay just eating away him and his first chance to show his dad up, he does the exact same thing! As a side story, not only was I fine, but I had a bad back from playing hockey prior to the accident and it completely went away after around seven years of almost daily pain if I exerted myself too much. Not sure how many people have an accident story where things got better for them afterwards, but I do. We didn't run it through the insurance and the guy paid me about $100 more than the repair costs, so I made money on it too.

Ah man, that’s so sad. My parents were definitely the type I was scared to tell anything to, even if it was a legit accident. However my inlaws for all their neurosis I could call them up to help me bury a body and they’d not ask a question. They are very relaxed humans, which my husband is too and I definitely need that since I’m like an anxious puppy. 😹
