What she got from my dad was not exactly the money, it was the stability, the money is part of it but not only, back then it signaled he was a hard worker and responsible (too bad it doesn't anymore). She's not even interested in spending his money in frivolous things. The “gold digger” OP was dating a man she would not otherwise date because he had money but developed a bond with him (as one often does when they get to know someone well enough.) But do you think her husbands type was accountants just getting by who are half his age? Or did the way she looked have something to do with that? Would he have dated any average looking person in her position? People all have their own motivations for doing things, their own intentions. People with great intentions do horrible things and people with horrible intentions do great things. And the results of those situations don’t take into account how good or bad one’s intentions were. Disregarding all intent, OP is in a happy marriage with a child on the way with someone she admits she’d do anything for, and he treats her well and respects her. How can we judge either of these people making this happy union and family based on something as immaterial as intention? If they were shit to eachother, maybe it would matter. But a net positive has happened here all because one person wanted monetary comfort and another wanted a hot girlfriend a year ago. So?

"I'm a gold digger" Good for you, lady. Nothing to be ashamed of. My dad got involved with one (because hot, blond, played at being domestic/submissive, etc., whereas my mom was always very independent and straightforward). He was idiotic enough to move all his worldly possessions to her name (because she didn't want *me* to inherit/have rights over anything obv) and in the end she left him after cheating on him with a church pastor. Other than the cheating, I applaud her for being cutthroat. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. The mom person warned him, he didn't listen, he lost everything and hasn't recovered since, and that was over 34 years ago :)

I think though, there is a difference between a gold digger and a sugar daddy relationship. Usually gold digger is used when the partner (going to use man for the context of the story) is going after the man and he doesn't know it. So in that case, is it really consenting? He might have thought she genuinely cared in those first six months, but was being lead on. Usually sugar daddy relationships are the ones where both parties consent. Partner get the goods, the man shells the cash, conditions are met, everyone is happy. That's just my first impulse though, I could be talked into a different view. Clearly they are happy now so it's just nit picky, haha.

Part of the problem with the scammers is that once someone falls for a scam they go on a list that is sold to other scammers. Scammers know that if someone is able to be scammed once, they are more likely to be scammed more times. I highly recommend the scam-baiting channels: Kitboga and Jim Browning. They show how scarily clever they are in pulling people into their scams, as well as breakdowns on how the scams are run, how to dismantle them, etc.

The abusive mother getting a taste of her own medicine story was glorious! I missed the beginning, so i thought this person was making these rules for her kid and this was an r/aita. Me, waking up from a nap, hearing these rules and thinking "what would my kid have to do for me to abuse them to this extent? Holy s**t! Omg it keeps getting worse!!! OP STOP!!!" Then she said those were the things she went through as a kid and i was like "then shouldnt you know not to put your kid through that??" Then i hear it was the wench who put her through all that and i was like "ohhh high five OP that was brilliant. Clearly the conditions arent THAT bad if she did it to you for years and didnt think CPS wouldnt take you away." I love when people get a taste of their own medicine and can't handle it. Suddenly the rules are too harsh. Suddenly its unfair. Hilarious to hear them validate your feelings without even realizing it.

My dad used to always *almost* fall for phone call scams, but I've luckily always caught it in time. Now he's more wise to scams. Dell or whatever aren't going to call you about problems you have because they don't care.

It's pretty amazing that so many people have zero issues admitting that they'd gleefully admit they'd be equally abusive to others. Go to therapy to heal from abuse and trauma, go no contact and live your life happily. I promise it's more worth it, than being equally abusive. You just make yourself into the bad guy and intentionally miserable. For anyone that is going to claim I have no idea what I'm talking about or have no understanding of the pain involved in abuse: I'm a CS trafficking survivor (my own mother being responsible for this), grew up in severe abuse, had a mother who tried to end my life multiple times, had to get restraining orders, hide my location and much more. I get it. However, being abusive for revenge is still exactly that... Abusive. It will rot your mental health, growth and accomplishments.

That burglar story reminded me of something that happened. I was maybe 18, and was in the basement of my parents home doing laundry. A bat came out of nowhere and started flying around. I made a split second decision to swat at it with my mesh laundry bag, thinking I could capture it like a net and bring it outside....but what actually happened is I broke one of its wings, and it ended up flopping around on the ground screaming in pain. I felt awful but I used a broom to sweep it onto a newspaper, folded the newspaper over, then smashed it with a hammer. I still feel bad for that poor little bat. I tried to help, I really did!
