lol, the entitled person parking in someone elses spot hit home for me a little. I used to live in an apartment building, on the third floor. Because third floor apartments were more of a pain in the ass, no elevator, they were harder to sell people on, so they gave people that lived in them certain perks... like covered parking. When I first moved in, I had to leave several notes on people's cars because people would park in my spot every other day. I always made sure to take pictures of the note and their vehicle plate number for reference. My apartment had been vacant for a little while, so they were just using the spot til someone moved in. Little by little, people stopped parking there due to my notes, but one car was persistent. I got home after 8pm every night because of my job at the time, so I had no chance to get my spot, and the apartment office was closed at that time as well, so no chance of getting the car moved. Finally though, I wrote the plate number down, and called the apartment office on my lunch break, let them know the situation and plate number. I was friends with one of the girls working in the apartment office, so she went to check right away. Sure enough, the person was in my spot again and I was assured they would be moved by the time I got home. 8pm rolls around, and I drive in just in time to see the car being towed away. Woke up the next day, to someone staring at my car and wondering where the hell their vehicle was. I unlocked my car as I walked past her, and she bitched me out asking where her car was. I told her it got towed. She threw a MASSIVE fit in the middle of the road, screaming and asking why I didn't just ask her to move. I told her I did, multiple times, via notes as I had no way of knowing what apartment she lived in. She told me I never left a note, and I proceeded to show her dated photos of every note, and every dated photo of her car parked in my spot. She stormed off. I got a text from my friend later that day, that not only did the woman have to pay $300 to get her car out of impound, the apartment also got to bill her for the towing, which was another $750 because they had to bring a different truck so they could get the woman's car out with cars parked on each side and a low carport top over it. Needless to say, no one ever parked in my spot again for the 2 years I lived there. :)

As a nurse, I’ve unfortunately witnessed the “ Mom, your virgin daughter is pregnant” conversation. An intern (Who was so awful that my hospital actually dismissed him shortly after) led with a playful punch to the mother’s arm and said “Guess what…”. Moral of the story: Never ask a girl if she might be pregnant in front of her mother!

Also, if we serve someone, we then need to cash up and lock up the store all over again. By that time it could be 15-20 minutes after our shift is supposed to have ended, a big L for us working for free for you because you couldn’t show up to the store on time.

The same thing happened to met. I worked in a grocery store and EVERY week this woman would pull up and ask if I could let her in 5 minutes after I closed the doors. I always told her "sorry we close at 11, but we open at 6 every morning." Each time the manager would come out and let her in since she only had (a few things to get) and she would end up filling up her cart and I would have to bag everything instead of finishing my chores (we had a chore chart). I would always get in trouble to for staying later so I ended up just ignoring the doors when she would come and hope she would leave. Sometimes she left but other times the manager just opened the doors for her himself. I guess they were friends... It was very annoying...

That one about the woman wanting someone's child broke my heart. She had had a miscarriage, and was clearly dealing with mental trauma caused by that. It was annoyng but nobody complained as we just let those pass as we belive in room for everybody. But then the next day the neighbor rigth next to them started mowing their lawn at 10 am and the man who had the party just flips out and yelling that they should be quiet so they could sleep! welp, told my husband to go find his noisiest powertool as well ;-)

@@jasondyrkacz8270 You know, I have no idea, but he and the cops did not get along so it wouldn't surprise me. The cop who came out was hopping mad about being forced to come out for such a silly call, the policy was they had to respond to any emergency call no matter how minor. Even if he didn't get charged for the call he did end up getting his comeuppance eventually: he bullied his way into getting a massive loan to quit his job and start his own DJ business, but word of mouth hit him hard and he had to default pretty quick. Then he got drunk as all hell at one of the gigs he did get, crashed the DJ van he had bought and put up as collateral, so the bank sued him and took his house and he had this massive breakdown on his front lawn while the repo men took all his stuff. That's the thing about entitlement, it gives you a false sense of power that you 'outsmarted the system' so eventually you'll trick yourself into thinking you really are that special and then life will smack you the hell down.

I got one! Settle in kids, it’s story time! I work in a library that closes at 8PM. We do announcements starting a half hour before closing to let people know it’s time to pack up and check out. Usually things go alright, but last week this incredibly entitled woman tried to start something. It was about 7:58 when my coworker pointed her out to me. She was either a mom or a tutor there with her kid, and they were still spread out over the couches working on an assignment. “She stayed until after closing last night too. I’ll give her one more minute and then let her know she needs to pack up.” So we have her a minute. Someone else made an announcement that the library was now closed and the lady was still sitting there, not packing up. So my coworker goes over to her. “I’m sorry ma’am but we’re closed. Could you start packing up?” The lady kind of waves her off with a smile. “We’re almost done. Just a minute,” and proceeds to tell the kid how to finish his math equation. My coworker doesn’t give up. See, we stop getting paid when the library closes - any extra time here is on us - and we also need to be out of the building at a certain time so security can lock up. “Unfortunately I need you to leave.” Lady waves her off again so she tries appealing to her. “You see we make the announcements so people know when we close and to be out of the library before 8PM. The staff doesn’t get paid for any extra time we spend here.” Lady snaps. “EXCUSE ME?!” She yells. “I’m sorry how is it MY fault you aren’t getting paid? You are the one who chose to be here. If you want to hang around after closing that is your own fault not mine!” “I am not accusing you of anything ma’am. Since I had to ask you to leave last night I wanted to let you know how closing works here.” “Oh so now I am a repeat offender. You’re targeting me! I’ve been here 2 times in 2 days and now I am being harassed and targeted. You chose to be here!” She keeps shouting that at us. Like, yes we chose this job, but no, you are literally the reason we are here after hours. That’s what closing means: we close. Kid looks embarrassed. Coworker is fuming. I go over and we both stand there while she packs up, hurling more insults and weird logic, before following her out of the building. Entitled lady managed to catch our manager on the way out. We could hear the yelling from the break room and waiting until she left. When we went out our manager was really confused. We told him what happened and he agreed that the lady wasn’t making a lot of sense. (He also agreed to pay us extra since she kept us there until 8:20PM). The next day she came into the library and gave us this smug ‘I Won’ look, but left 5 minutes before closing. You get a lot of different people that come to the library, she was definitely one of the weird ones.

The one with the customers coming late is so true. We have a policy where we close our doors 15 minutes before closing time (so we only give service to those that were already inside while we start closing). Every now and then, someone arrives at the last 10 minutes and goes crazy when we explain that we can't let him/her in. Putting their leg between the doors, threatening they'll sue and that it's "inhuman" to treat them like this.

If I were to face those kind of costumers ( who try to force entry or treaten to sue ), I would let them in..... under one condition: if there are goods in their hands, basket or cart not already payed for when the till closes, they will have to face the cops for shoplifting. ( overtime charges added to the bill ). So they will have to pay plenty for not getting any goods.

See, I disagree with that. If the store's posted hours say "9 to 5" and I walk in at 4:50, I should be fully allowed to make a purchase. If the store makes "we're closing, come pay!" announcements and still I dilly dally and rock up to the register at 5:05 expecting to pay and am told "Nope, sorry," well, that's one thing. I was warned, I saw the hours, that's fair and on me. But if I walk in at 4:50 and am ready to pay at 4:55, I should be allowed to and the store's own business hours say I can. If the store wants to stop doing business at 4:45, post special purchasing hours, or whatever the owners want to call them.

As someone who works in a library, the library one happens almost every time we close. People flustered that we have a closing time. “Huh the library isn’t open 24/7?” Was a legit question I got once while leaving work. We’re open from 9:30 am to 9:00 pm Monday - Friday and on Saturday 9 - 5, Sunday 1 - 5. In the summers on Friday it’s 9:30pm to 5 and Sundays closed. On weekdays that’s 11 and a half hours each day to come in. So many people come in 5 mins before close and act as if we just live there and cannot be inconvenienced bc it’s our job. Luckily I can leave because of my position but so many of my co workers have to keep serving after we close.

what probably happened is she probably hounded the ticket agent to upgrade her because she didn't like her coach ticket but either didn't know shed purchased coach or (more likely) was hoping to get first class for cheap. The ticket agent probably told her that they might be able to upgrade her if there's any space available either because she gave a semi-plausible story as an excuse why she needed to upgrade or (more likely) to get her to go away from their station and stop wasting their time. So she took that to mean that she was UPGRADED... I work at a store that's known for its bath items it's pretty popular you're probably thinking of it now. I was once closing our gate at the appropriate closing time and this couple comes rushing towards me still a few feet away as I closed and locked it, the man looked so offended and asked for me to open the gate. I told him we were closed and that I couldn't let him in. He pointed to his wife ( who was pregnant) and said " You're really not going to let us in, my wife is pregnant." I shrugged " we're closed, I can't open the gate for anyone, pregnant or not" he looked at his watch and told me " you literally only closed a minute ago" and I said " you're correct sir, we did close a minute ago, you're welcome to come back tomorrow at 10 am when we open again." and walked away to him shouting " She's pregnant!" why do people assume we'll change closing or opening times because their S/O is pregnant?

The one about the library made me think of a positive incident I experienced years ago. I'm a bibliophile, I adore books, my favorite place to be is the library or at a quiet bookstore. When I was a kid, probably in my tweens, my mom would drop me off at the local library while she ran errands and the like, and then come get me later. One time, she was supposed to pick me up right before closing; closing time came and went, and she wasn't there; she got stuck behind the mess of a car crash, so it took awhile for her to get through and this was before we all had cellphones. Now, at this point, aside from a couple librarians, I was the only person in the building. I was sitting in the area between the actual library and the outside, as I didn't want to appear like I was refusing to leave after closing, but I didn't want to wait outside in the dark either. As the librarians came out to leave and lock the first set of doors, one of them, who knew me and my mom well, saw me still sitting near the exit. After explaining what was going on, she was kind enough to wait an additional 10 minutes before my mom showed up so she could lock the second set of doors after I left. That random kindness did a lot for a young kid who didn't know where her mom was and didn't know what to do when the building had to be fully locked. Plus, it showed me that being kind to others can have that kindness returned when I needed it the most. : )

The library one annoyed me because I work at a fast food place an dive been doing a lot of closing shifts. There are things we're not allowed to do with guests still there, like vacuuming, so the longer they stay there the longer i have to be there and everybody else because we all leave as a group. The employee probably wanted to get home because they had stuff to do or was exhausted. My work closes at 10 but on a good day we finish cleaning and everything at 11. Typically it goes longer, closer to midnight, and I'm a high school student so Fridays are tiring. I would be pissed if you came in with your family a few minutes till close on a Friday night and ate a full diner in the dining room.

While I give the OP in this video credit for not staying later than 6:03, it's still rude to show up right before closing. I've done this at our local grocery store when I just needed one thing and I knew where it was. I felt so guilty for getting there like two minutes before closing I ran to go grab it and then ran to the checkout. They said it was fine but I still apologized because I knew they wanted to get out of there and go home. I run a small business and I know what it's like for people to come in two minutes before closing.

@@dx1450 Also, in her comment she said that this happened to her several times... so she had gone there, before closing, more than once. I'm assuming the first time this happened people were nice to her but after she did this a couple more times, I can see why they looked annoyed. Also, we know that this time she left at 6:03 but the previous times it might have taken longer... so I don't give her any credit.

@@smolbean2110 the library one was the only one that didn't sound that bad to me tbh. I also worked in food service for many years and I never had issues with people showing up just before closing. Just because I'm tired doesn't mean I'm entitled to not serve people that walk through the door when the place is officially open. It was my job after all. Once the clock struct 10 then no new customers but if it's 9:55 then we are open and people have every right to walk through the door and order a sandwich.

Last year around Christmas I had a customer call my store and say their GPS claimed they would arrive four or so minutes after closing. She asked me if I could keep the store open for her so she could grab one thing. I told her I couldn’t and that it could get me in trouble to leave the doors open after hours. She said “oh you don’t have to leave them open, just unlock them when I come.” This was at almost 9pm and we’d already been open 12 hours at that point. She had half a day to come by but instead waited until the last minute. She tried to argue and order that I let her in despite it putting me and my crew at risk. She ended the call by saying she would see me soon and that I would let her in. I don’t know if she did ever try to come by but she called back and another employee answered and gave her my name. Nothing ever came of it but the gall some people have is astounding.

I see nothing wrong with calling and asking....but if the answer is no accept the answer. However dont assume because the store was open 12 hours that the customer had 12 hours to get there, maybe they just finished a 12 hour shift working too.

@@WeFoundAtlantis Years ago I owned a store, turned into a non profit business so I moved on, but I never minded someone doing exactly as I said. If they wanted to give me money I didnt mind and tried to be accommodating. My distinction between a customer running late for whatever reason and a "Karen" is in the reaction to being told no. A customer accepts the answer, a Karen demands. I also disagree with the assumption that any customer running late is doing so out of carelessness or laziness or simple disregard for the employees.

Glenn Rishton She tried to order me to keep the store open despite me telling her I could get in trouble. You owned a store - I was a key holder. We were in completely different situations. Obviously you’re choosing to completely disregard my original comment. There’s nothing wrong with making a request but when I told her I couldn’t, she should’ve accepted it and not tried to intimidate me over the phone to go against my store policy. Whether she had a free 12 hours or she had been working all day, she should have let it go and tried to find an open date in her schedule to drop by another day. It was not an emergency. Sorry, but you’re wrong about this one, Glenn.

@@WeFoundAtlantis We are very much in agreement. That was why I said in my initial response that I find it OK to call and ask but after asking accept the answer. If the answer is no than accept the no. My point was I saw nothing wrong with the asking. I also agree if one cant arrive when the store is open then find a time to arrive when it is. That part was addressed more to the other comments here assuming because a person couldnt arrive in time they must be negligent or inconsiderate.

As a server, my favorite was people who would come in at 855 (we closed at 9), ask when we closed, say "OH gOoD wE jUsT mAdE iT" and the would proceed to stay well past 10pm and say "oh I hope we're not keeping you... can we order more food to go? WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO?!! THE KITCHEN CLOSED AN HOUR AGO?!! BUT WE'RE STILL HERE!!!" You are, literally, the only thing keeping us here. And it is just you, me, and the manager here. The cooks are paid more, so they leave as soon as they're done cooking your food and we check to make sure you aren't going to complain about it. Then, inevitably... $2 tip for over an hour of work.
