After you've defeated Frelei, you got the pop-up that there was some ice crackling. Is there s secret area somwhere or was that just the minion? It's a weird pop-up that is

This is a message that is supposed to hint that a short-cut was opened. When first entering the Castle, on the west you can find a staircase, it does lead to the "final, lowest floor", but your path is blocked by a bunch of icicles raised from the floor. After obtaining the Sword, you can see that the icicles are gone, and you can pass through,. with no need to backtrack
