Hey Ryan I’m really curious to hear your outsider’s perspective on the Quiñones case. Do you think Quiñones deserves to play for the MX national team? He’s been in the country since he was 15 and has clearly familiarized himself with the culture. He also made his professional debut for a Mexican team (Tigres) and won trophies with another (Atlas). His wife is Mexican and now he’s playing for one of the top teams in the country but since he’s also in talks to complete his naturalization process and potentially play for El Tri, there’s so much controversy around his case. I’ve heard pundits on the MX media say that because he was born outside the country he would need to ”prove that he’s substantially better than the locals” to warrant a call-up. What the heck is that supposed to mean? I’ve also noticed this topic makes a few Tri fans uncomfortable, probably bc they’re afraid of getting cancelled or something. Some people say it’s weird for them because he has no previous connections to the country. Others bring up race, which is unfortunate. I personally think a person can love a country regardless of where they were born, and I actually don’t think that necessarily changes how you feel about your country of origin. If Quiñones represents our country well, then in my opinion he deserves the green jersey. He has the quality for it too. That’s why I really wanna know your opinion bc there’s so many different arguments, to the point where an Argentine youtuber (StJamesSann) made a video about the dangers of unregulated naturalization because it allegedly opens the door for some countries to essentially “hire” players for their national team. It’s such an interesting topic! What do you think about players that choose to play for a country that they have no previous ties to? (unlike dual nationals who often have some form of prior connection like parents, ancestry, etc). Does the fact that Quiñones has been in MX since adolescence change anything? Should it be this controversial or are the media at it again? Thanks!
@RyanAnderson27 Жыл бұрын
Quinones has played in Mexico so long, and he’s became Mexican and accepted the country in his heart and he wants to wear the green shirt… he’s the best option at the wing for El Tri as well if he’s naturalized, so he’s not stealing a position from someone who actually deserves it as much (looking at you, Antuna) so I think Quinones being naturalized and playing for El Tri should be widely accepted and cheered… (and besides, look at that assist he gave Henry… you want Henry to not be a Tronco in green, you need Quinones 😆😆)

Really hope futbol takes off in the states, I’m hoping eventually the MLS could compete vs NFL and the NBA in terms of popularity. Wishing we will eventually have more major stars in their prime, this would eventually cause the US mens national team to actually compete vs the elites like Brazil, England, France, Argentina etc.

St louis city are feeling badly and I told them St Louis City are nobody in Leagues cup but there great in mls. But why they didn't been great against Columbus. Because they're not full it powers and why St Louis City never step up against Club America its because they look badly and plus Club America are dynasty and they're back! So St Louis City I'm sorry that you're eliminated but play the right thing against your own team and Liga mx clubs! So ain't no time for that...
