Absolutely nothing wrong at all with modeling the 70's. Probably one of the best era's to model with so many roads still in existence, very unique locomotives in use, and that you can get trains, cars and buildings for that era. I like tiny layouts as well. I like the "coffee table" type ones and am always impressed with how much can be crammed into such a small space. Even the 2x2 layouts are amazing.

A really interesting layout, but your narration is what made the video exceptional! Stepping back in time, no matter how recent or far is what a great period train layout does. I can't imagine baseball, castles or railroads without history. Thanks for showing us what it means. Well done! T4

HO will always be my 2nd favorite scale since you can do so much in a small space and a huge variety of locomotives and rolling stock. The Layout looks great, I like those Baldwin rf-16 sharks you got.
@Stussmeister3 жыл бұрын
A very nice layout. I know you claim your layout is small, but I think that makes it more manageable; it also enables you to focus more on the fine details. The chief of operations at my model railroad club has told me one should not bite off more than they can chew when it comes to model railroading and build a huge layout that is overwhelming for one person to run and maintain. By the by, the layout at said model railroad club is a 30' x 60' HO scale layout, but that's only been done through 30 years of members working on it at least three days a week.
@obxbill013 жыл бұрын
Very nice layout and presentation! My 2-rail HO is just slightly smaller than yours and not as far along. You really need to re-open the restaurant though! There is plenty of foot traffic in your world to keep it busy and the farmers need a place to meet and discuss crop futures when they come to town for supplies. And it would look really neat with a few tractors parked out front at lunchtime during planting season. :) Cheers!

Years ago I, cleaned up train wrecks and I've done several back then, They were common enough to make a living, but Con-rail was buying everyone out, so my time was limited. So i got a license to drive big trucks and retired from that. But yes I remember the D&H! I think that, thats cool that such a young person enjoyed building them! I'm pretty sure that the D&H was my last wreck that I went on, in Oneonta, N.Y. Thursday, July 12, 1984. I works for Winter's Railroad Service out of Langford, N.Y.

I get the idea of being nostalgic for a time I never lived in. I was born in the 70s, but am nostalgic for the 50s & 60s. Additionally, my favorite railroad is also of "home team" flavor, that being the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad. Great video and great layout!
@chriscummings42068 ай бұрын
Lots of great used books available about the railroad a person is interested in (helpful to find authors that also have a love for that railroad because they will understand that everything around the railroad is also important, cars, trucks, buildings and people.) I kept trying to find a railroad that was a mainline yet not huge and I found the Second Section Podcast and the SOO LINE is interesting for me. Difficult to sometimes find people who admit that they are struggling building a model railroad so that we always have information and experiences to share. I like how this model railroad has a road going through it, meaning it is a part of a bigger world!

Very nicely done layout, I like your history behind the town and railroad. Even with all the financial hardships the D and H had, it was always a class act. It is still a very much loved railroad in Northeast PA. I live next to the old Wilkes-Barre Connecting Railroad which the D and H and Pennsylvania Railroad both used to interchange freight and bypass center city Wilkes-Barre. Today Norfolk Southern uses it as a part of the Mainline between Harrisburg and Binghamton.
