Stupenda e stupefacente Tebaldi con la proverbiale scansione del testo che rende davvero temibili le minacce di Gioconda, resa feroce dalla gelosia, e quel fraseggio che alterna magistralmente accenti furiosi a intenerimenti commossi. Una Gioconda esemplare che riscosse plausi unaninimi ed ancora ne risulta meritevole in massimo grado! Grazie, Branchi

2 great, great singers! Ms. Cvejic died in January 2021 at age 97. She was up and about socializing and coaching at age 95!

I have always thought it quite ironic that after having a mid-career crisis with her voice, the first new role she took on was one of Maria's best and she did it spectacularly. It is unfortunate that we no longer see such grand voices in such great competition.
