This is the first romance I’ve read, and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction book to the genre. I love it! The plot is simple, but the way LMM executed it was perfect and made the book much longer than anyone else could’ve.

💕 I love this gentle and enchanting story. Thanks.
I’m not really fond of the way each chapter is read by a different person. It was distracting and the volume went up and down depending on the quality of the recording.

Delightful book written by Ms. Montgomery. Sad that people don’t read a book before making derogatory remarks about it!

I've never heard of this book. It came on after Anne of Green Gables. It sounds comfortable so far.

Chapter 4 sound goes too far down, otherwise most prettily read.

Can't listen to someone killing many of the orchard. Kilmeny shouldn't be pronounced like death is invokved

Awful, isn't it? Surely one would find out how to pronounce words *before* recording? How on earth does Librivox accept this as doing justice to a classic? Karen Savage does very good readings.... pity she did not do this too.

Yeah, I think she should’ve had been named something like Juliette, Celeste, Grace, or after some other famous Shakespearean lady.

@@jenniferpearce1052 Still! and besides, how else would it be pronounced? Kyle-many?
@jenniferpearce10522 жыл бұрын
@@emilyhamberger2131 In my head, I soften the "many" to "muh-nee". KIL-muh-nee. So the kill syllable is still strong, but the other two syllables have less stress.

This is a lovely story, I only wish there was at least somebody who wasn't a racist against Neal the Italian boy. I can't complain because it reflects the historical ideas of this time but it still makes me angry on his behalf. Ps I haven't heard the whole thing yet so maybe there is.

I don’t think it was about him being Italian that no one considered he could be with Kilmeny, but for one, he’s only a “home boy,” two I don’t think he loved Kilmeny like Eric did. Eric loved her selflessly, if she had loved Neal he would’ve let her go to him because he loved her. Neal loved her selfishly, he tried to kill the one she loved instead of letting her be happy. Yep, didn’t have anything to do with him being Italian. 😂 LM Montgomery is deeper than that.
