A lot of people think their the most competent when they’re not. That’s why they scream DEI all the time, they feel they’re the most qualified and simply don’t want to compete. And when someone else gets the job it’s not because that person is better at the job, it must because they fill a quota or are more compliant. But there’s also the reality of if you can do the job from home. Couldn’t someone else do the job for less overseas?

I’m a software engineer at AT&T, place has gone down hill drastically since Stankey took over. It had problems before, but they made an effort to attract talent and promote work-life balance - all of that has come to an end. You didn’t cover the forced relocations AT&T has performed either forcing people to move or quit their jobs as they shut down offices in many cities including St. Louis, Chicago, San Ramon, etc. Look into it a bit, I can’t wait to get out of that place, constantly losing team members to layoffs, RTO, etc…workloads constantly increasing, budget cuts, no progression, it’s just become an awful place to work.

It's been a terrible place to work for a very long time. You can thank your CWA for that. They've never bothered to fix anything, and they fold during contract negotiations every time they should win. They figured out that if they give the lower paid workers inside a tiny raise, they are far more in number and then they can screw over the people who actually do the heavy lifting for the company. The Union allows it every contract season.

@DavidTector
@DavidTector 22 күн бұрын
@@trumpetbob15 That makes zero sense... Because amazon cloud allows people in the office to focus on their companies objectives to their product. Any team a company can afford to hire to deal with data warehouse operations will be infinitely less capable than Amazon, a company that lives or dies by the success of their cloud. Working remotely and outsourcing an incredibly fragile, costly business venture in it's own right are two entirely different things. It's the same in all industries. Take the gaming industry for example. Maintaining in house game engines is getting to hard to keep up with demands by gamers. Especially as the code bases grow ever larger coupled with employee turnover requiring new people with zero knowledge to work on a behemoth. All game studios are turning to outsourcing this task to companies dedicated to game engine development that live and die by the success of their engine. But by your logic, maybe we should allow remote work again and just let indians all work remotely from India and lay off people who have lost the plot, like you. At least they seem to understand the deal. A lot of people born in America are losing the plot. Your take is completely biased. If it was best companies would be doing that... I can promise you that. And I'd bet everything I have on it.

It's not just the RTO at AT&T its that they literally didn't allow people to work from locations where they started their career even if it was a main hub. Let me explain. AT&T as constituted today is actually several companies merged together. So many long time employees were hired at certain locations and have always been there. These are not as bootlickers on the internet claim people who just decided to move to the boondocks during covid. AT&T decided to relocate their job they accepted in the current locations years ago to locations across the country and literally wouldn't let them work in the perfectly fine office they were in. Keep in mind there were zero moving packages and even if there were one why would you uproot for a company that surpluses people by the thousands regularly? Where they couldn't get away with this tactic they stuffed people in locations where there are more people than literal seats and provide the bare minimum. This is an issue that carried over from Hybrid and they did absolutely nothing about. What's even worse is many times they deny letting people go to say a CO that had admin space (cubicles) that is closer to their home even when none of their team is where they are assigned. This isn't ATT employees just crying or being lazy this is a guy like Stankey (who doesn't have to fight to find a seat in the morning) on purpose making it difficult to do what he says he wants done.

Dude I remember I worked for AT&T… bro .. im never doin that shiit again.. it was the worst company I have ever worked for.. I remember when I worked sales, they didn’t train me on OPUS(the system used to help handle customers plans, buy services etc) in other words, the main system.. And they would literally get mad at me for not being able to keep up with sales… like .. the manager dead ass told me “If you were to quit right now we would have to pay you and your free to go , you can take your money and leave if you wanted” , because he was trying to get me to quit since I wasn’t keeping up. How tf you not go teach me the system, then get mad when I’m not doing good in sales as everyone else .. that’s like throwing somebody into war without any type of training, expecting them to be able to perform the same task as trained militia.. tf .. okay so .. Ramp up is what sales employees get the first few months because AT&T says they “understand” new employees might now be able to keep up with sales so they help with with commission by giving ramp up blah blah blah … bro .. so you mean to tell me.. they have things in place for new employees because you know they probably won’t be able to make the amount of sales needed.. but now you’re yelling at me and mad and want me to leave because I’m not keeping up with sales ?? Lmaooooo .. Yo wtf .. I left without officially quitting because that yelling shiit got out of hand .. since it wasn’t official, and I was a union employee, they gave me ramp up for the next three months even though I wasn’t there 😂😂 .. bro I’m done .. fuk AT&T and John Stankey old dusty ass ..

One of my coworkers said "We don't have enough seats. We have 1700 employees and we only have 1500 cubes/seats". The management didn't miss a beat. Dude just said that they had enough seats and not to worry about it. My coworker didn't get it at first.... I just nudged him and told him we would talk about it after the meeting. In the end we had empty cubes in the new building. My guess is that they silently laid off around 300 people. It was weird because there wasn't any formal announcement or chatter about it.
