I think the reason why they were so aggressive with the girl is because they were acting out an image they had during that time period. They were acting out as bad boys who had never been in love before and didn’t know how to treat girls, much less treat the girl they like. Plus that was how bad boys were portrayed in film in Korea (for the longest time) until the girl made them become kinder and less aggressive.

Honestly I've been an army for a very long time and I have to agree that the way they were acting in this music video was way too aggressive towards the girl... I actually really don't like this music video/song because I feel like it portrays gender roles in such a bad way, it doesn't do anything to challenge gender roles and expectations; it just makes people think that guys have to be tough and mean in order to "impress the girl" which is so frustrating. Worst of all, it makes girls think that if a guy treats her like crap then that's just his way of showing love or affection which is ridiculous. But yeah basically I just consider this music video of theirs to be a part of their dark past and I'm glad they moved past it now and have gone on to bigger and better things. That being said, I still love BTS and this "boy in luv" era does not define them as artists or people in my opinion

Im glad y'all pointed out the situation with the girl, I definitely have respect for that, but I wanna take this opportunity to say that BTS specifically rap line have openly discussed this and apologized for it, saying that it was inappropriate, they have expressed sincere regret about some of their past songs (boy in love and war of hormone mostly), Namjoon even has his lyrics reviewed by professors of women's studies now in order to ensure that he's staying informed. They also wrote 21st century girls in order to empower woman. They've grown a lot as people which is always a good thing. Also feel like I should add that in the behind the scenes video they are visibly uncomfortable and continually apologizing to her, regardless not okay and I'm glad they've grown

I have a love/hate thing with this MV. I actually really like the song. MV is only bothersome for me at suga’s part and Jin’s part with the girl. This whole thing wasn’t their idea imho, like they didn’t come up with how they should act towards the girl or anything, so I wish they weren’t hated on so much for this MV, back then and now. They knew back then that this isn’t how you treat women, of any age. But they had a job to do unfortunately. And were really in no position to say “no, I won’t do this”. Really unfortunate. They knew how to treat women and I believe that’s why it was so easy to grow out of this concept, as well as just experimenting with music all together.. loved your reaction, as I always do! I personally hated this song and War of Harmones because of the way they talked about women. I know Namjoon explained that they felt bad about the lyrics and how it affected females, but I always skip Boy in Luv because I didn’t like the way they were being rough with the girl :/ Too aggressive and disrespectful for me. Tbh I don’t like that album due to its objectification of women. BUT! I’m touched that Namjoon went out the way to seek out another women’s perspective when they were writing songs because he and the other members wanted to be considerate and respectful towards females and female ARMYs! They were young and dumb. I’m just glad that they’ve grown into the beautifully dashing young men that they are today. And it’ll be a pleasure to watch them grow.

I find that they've progressed naturally not only through music but through how they show passion and love. In this vid, they were aggressive and that's not how you should treat a girl you like, BUT I feel like it's a natural response for a lot of young boys who get their first big crush and, like you said, don't know what to do with the Feelings. Not an excuse, but sometimes kids don't know any better and they gotta be dumbasses before they grow up and realize. Same with War of Hormone, but unlike many people, I actually don't think there's anything wrong with that portrayal at all. They had hormones and they were acting on them, and they never laid a hand on the girl. It was playful and fun and normal, but I won't get into that haha. My point is -- it's cool to see how their characters in these MVs have matured as they've grown and acted on love and pain and everything else in a more adult way. :)

The thing is when I first saw the MV I understood that the violence was probably not purposeful or very well though out so I just can't watch reactions to the MV because people usually misunderstand but like bts and what was 'in' back then and the hip hop vibe is outdated. It was 4 years ago and that aspect, scene of the mv wasn't very well thought out in my opinion so what I'm trying to say is like be mindful of that. Because obviously bts have grown since and probably take more control over their MVs and the message they wish to convey rather than leaving it to staff and whoever directs/produces their MV.
