Man, this episode was so ahead of its time. Aaron McGruder absolutely called it on Obama. His campaign was full of hope, but ultimately it turned out just the same as any other president. He bailed out the banks, helped disband Occupy Wallstreet, expanded ice, state surveillance, and drone strikes, and basically stifled any real change. However, there's no denying the election of the first black president is still a huge milestone and worth celebrating, so I guess you gotta take the victories where you can. At least That Thugnificient song is a jam. Also, Werner Herzon absolutely kills it this episode.

The first time I watched this episode I didn't think too much about Huey's indifference but now I understand. I'm still happy that Barak Obama was president of the US but just because we had a black president dosen't mean "the black struggle" will stop. I guess the moral of this story is never get your hopes up.

Ya'll might not have recognized him, but the voice and likeness of the documentary director in this episode was the Imperial General dude from the Mandalorian lol. His name is Werner Herzog, he has done documentaries in this style throughout his career. He's a great sport for hopping on this show!

Largely, Huey seemed like he was just indifferent about a Black president. He knew it wouldn't bring any actual change, but everyone else got on him for not celebrating it. Riley's general reason for rooting for Obama was just because he was Black. That would probably be just about every Black person who was voting for him. Me myself, I was excited to just have a Black president back when this was happening (I was in my Sophomore year in high school back in '08). Grandad feels like he actually did something to make all that happen when he did little to nothing. Whether he's being senile or just wants to feel like he's owed something (just like many other Black people who believe they're owed something for their suffering). P.S. I'm Black so don't get on me for speaking the truth.

“Here is the danger of too much hope, skeptics are treated as blasphemers and indifference becomes equal to hate.” That may be one of the greatest boondocks lines of all time and why this is my favorite episode besides the MLK and BET episode. And it’s no wonder there’s been a moral panic building since then to the point were nowadays just a slight suspicion of “wrong think“ create a media fire storm of irrational bullshit the likes of which never seen before so much so that it’s gotten to the point where smiling FUCKING SMILING is now racist, just ask the media tantrum at Covington. WOW.... JUST WOW I mean there’s first world problems and then there’s.... whatever the fuck that was. 😏

Huey's reaction to Obama running for and becoming president fit perfectly with his character. He's cynical and an extreme realist. Yes Obama becoming president is undoubtedly a huge historical moment and him winning did inspire hope for people and the younger generation which is of course a good thing. But ultimately him becoming president doesn't mean or change anything. Also y'all definitely had two more episodes to go for season 2. Hope y'all at least watched them because The Hunger Strike and The Uncle Ruckus Reality Show were the best episodes of Season 2.

the point of this episode is pretty clear if you guys paid attention to the nuisance instead of expecting it to be spelled out and said out right for you while you just laugh and wait for comedy and look past the commentary .... huey doesn't say much and everything he feels is proven correct...literally....remember no one listens anyways...for once he shut his mouth and look everyone learned their lesson and kinda saw his point of view without him saying one thing to them....tom thugnificent riley robert all realized nothing changed...ruckus while racist dumb and crazy is on to something with his initial point which is why he says he and huey are on the same page sorta but he just goes too far with it obviously into looney tunesville......obama is just a puppet..like they all are..he was just the black one to get black people back on america's side after bush ruined that relationship

So I decided to look up if the show was actually implying that Sarah f*cked Obama, and cheated on Tom, and the wiki literally confirms that she did. But no other site makes reference to it, stating that her biggest point of unfaithfulness to Tom was acting like a huge fan of Usher in an upcoming episode. So, I don’t know who to believe. All I’ll say is that she did NOT come across as someone who would cheat on Tom in earlier seasons. She seemed like a caring, genuine house wife. I have no idea why her personality changed like that. Really, go back and watch the episode she was first introduced. The camera work is clearly trying to imply that Tom, despite his shortcomings, nabbed a grade A wife. So this just completely confuses me, because that episode was seeming to imply that everyone else was in the wrong for harassing Tom for marrying a white woman, but how they presented her at the end was meant to imply that she was a good woman, and it didn’t matter what anyone else thought. Now this episode is basically implying that he was wrong to marry the white woman. It sacrifices a touching moment from an earlier season, simply for a joke, and I’m not a fan of that. And once again, why does everyone in this show have to treat Tom so poorly? What did he do? It’s funny when life sh*ts on Ruckus, since he’s an awful person, but Tom has only ever been a loving husband and father. All he had was his job, wife, and daughter, and now the show is heavily implying that his wife is unfaithful to him. That’s such bullsh*t. Like, I’d be fine with it if it was always implied that she was cheating on Tom, but this literally just came out of nowhere, like the writers decided they wanted a new way to ruin Tom’s life.

@Laxhoop
@Laxhoop 4 жыл бұрын
John 2.0 Yeah, him being a wimp doesn’t make all the awful stuff that happens to him, funny. People naturally root for characters like that. Yeah, I get it, Tom is meant to be the other side of the coin of Ruckus, where he’s the opposite extreme of an Uncle Tom, but the show does NOT push that idea at all. The show had dozens of chances to make Tom come off as an Uncle Tom, and it didn’t take them, instead portraying him as just an average dude caught up in the antics of the assholes surrounding him.

24:21 I cant believe Rob sounds so ignorant here too, he say ppl shouldnt be judging just cus black ppl voted Obama just cus hes black. The man he rooted was the President to have the most drone strikes ordered againts Afghanistanis n Iraqis in middle east. The same way Ronald Regan greenlit the support of Contras in South America. He prioritizes his insecurities of his perceived lack of representatiom when it was about electing new good leadership. Rob so dumb he missed the point. Obama was still a part of the capitalist system that continued to displace countless ppl of Middle east after Bush n Reagan. This episode serves as a clear warning about how political parties saying whatever shi to tug the heartstrings of ppl, no matter what color. Never mind if they fullfill the promises or not. Their only mission is to make you vote for them. N if that works they do whatever agenda they like. Skin has nothing to do with how great of leader you are. This isnt some Fasion show Rob, ppl die from voting wrong ppll, even till this day in Palestine. US continues to elect imperialist Presidents who step on the lives of the third world people.

Yes, his name is Werner Herzog and he's a documentary filmmaker. Which is why his cartoon incarnation makes a documentary about Obama

You should always vote. Part of the reason we don't see the change we want is because people don't participate and don't vote. At least vote third party if you insist on wasting your vote, lol. The amount of nonvoters dwarfs the amount of regular voters. People _can_ make the changes they want. They just choose not to because they're lazy or uninformed about the power they have.

You say part of the reason we don't see change is because people don't participate to vote, yet you call voting third party wasting your vote even though the same logic can be used for voting 3rd party, they just choose to keep voting only 2 options because they are lazy or uninformed about the power they have. So you can't fault people who don't wanna vote if they feel that voting won't do anything, just like voting 3rd party.

Honestly looking back after a decade, I don't think Bush was that bad of a president, not a great or maybe even good, just had the shittiest luck of any president. Nobody or minority foresaw some of the shit he had to deal with 9/11, Katrina, housing crisis to the recession. Obama didn't change shit but my high school lunch and racked the debt, he continued whatever Bush did, who was trying to pull out of the Middle East already. I won't even mention more on Trump besides showing Nixon and Clinton should have tried to ride out their scandals.

Obama fixed the recession and many groups greatly benefited from his presidency from the alphabet people, the illegal immigrants got specific laws to protect them and the decline in Black unemployment trend started to go down under his presidency. Obama really wasn't a bad president for everyone except Black people entirely and poor whites.

@@MultiDiceman I wasn't really bashing on anyone in particular but Trump, just saying no present in my lifetime has left the office in overall public favor. Bush and Obama were decent policy wise, besides that stupid wall, but they're probably not going to remembered in ways they'd like. The recession started at the end of the last Bush term. He would be the one to deal with it.

@@hcook1023 You forgetting the Iraq War my dude? Another damn war based on a lie that resulted in the deaths of countless people that is still felt today. That and Patriot Act, which pretty much lets the government spy on Americans. Bush was not good.

I don't agree with Rob often lol this is one of those rare occasions. Obama could have done a lot more but they made it clear from the beginning that they would block him at every path. It gives hope that just maybe the next could build on that although given the current state of things who knows

Obama had a Democratic SUPERMAJORITY in both houses of Congress (for the first two years) plus he started more wars, armed the Police with military weapons and he supposedly "killed Bin Laden" so your excuses mean nothing since he got so much done!!!

That's an unfortunate side effect of the Boondocks. It's a lot of criticism and self-reflection of the black community... by the black community. Unfortunately racists see this as an easy way to disguise their hateful agenda. Thankfully it doesn't gain much traction in this community.
