I understand Blackface is a serious cultural issue but Prabhudeva is a naturally, dark skinned South Indian. He also has naturally curly hair, the only difference here was that they dyed it blonde/put on a wig. While he clearly took inspiration from Michael's move, I don't think there was an interntion to blackface here.

This dancer, is literally the same dancer you guys reacted to from the song Guleba, his name is Prabhu Deva. His dancing is influenced from Michael Jackson as he himself was a huge fan. Now, Prabhu Deva is considered one of India’s most successful actors and choreographers. He is naturally dark in complexion, and has thick curly hair. They’ve made him to look more like a rustic cowboy, definitely not blackface. If you see any of his other videos, you guys would be able to see that. Just like Prabhu Deva, the South Indian film industry comprises of several astounding actors who bare darker complexions, Rajnikanth, Dhanush from Rowdy Baby - which you guys also reacted to, Sivakarthikeyan, and Vijay Sethupathi - to name a few. Several South Indian men and women are known to have darker complexions, very similar to people of African American descent. It is who we are. India is now slowly steering away from colorism, and living in a time where many of us are celebrating what we are. Last but not least, please keep in mind that India was colonized by the British, and Indians have gone through years and years of racism and discrimination as well. It is very highly unlikely the video had any intention for discrimination, especially considering the history we have experienced.

Indian people literally come in EVERY SHADE of skin. Curly hair and straight hair. Monolid and double eyelids. The film industry in India also has a tendency to cast light skin Indians, which we know is a problem for a lot of different industries and races. South Indians are dark (and light but there are lots of dark skinned people here too who are just as dark as Black people). And some have curly hair. It's not the same texture as Black hair but we do have people with curly hair. It definitely wasn't an afro but just his normal hair. He wasn't trying to imitate Black people at all, that's just how he looks. But the dancer Prabhu Deva is definitely a huge Michael fan and draws inspiration from him.

Prabhu Deva is actually Dark Skinned and his hair is naturally curly and puffy, they just dyed his hair a bit. They didn’t make him Black, he is dark skinned Indian actually and many East Africans look like Dark skinned Indians, it’s because of shared genetic history from the times when Asia and Africa were connected by lands via Madagascar. The piece of land which connected South Asia and Africa is now submerged under water.
