RTW Julii Campaign Aggressive Strategy

Unfortunately the second Senate mission is always unpredictable with the Julii. The mission could either be to take Narbo, Patavium, Mediolanium, Caralis or Segestica. Or possibly blockade the port of Syracuse. Infact, I've seen the Julii get issued to take the settlement of Athens.

Yea, I just ignore the senate most of the time, they'll even ask you to blockade ports in western france sometimes lol

I like to roleplay when playing as a Roman faction so I try to be a good Roman and do the Senate missions.

I use the same strategy, also you didn't mention that the two cities east, I believe Segestica and salona have some of the best mines in the game, I believe you get 500 and then 800, with both you can get 1600 denari early... although sometimes the dacians or macedon attacks them

This is how you do aggressive: Put your faction leader and all your armies except the town watch on the boat first turn. Take Segesta with the one general and train Hastatii in the capital first turn. You can take the Gauls on with the two generals and the Hastatii you continually train in the capital. Skip Caralis and take Corinth, Sparta, Athens, Larissa, Thessaloniki, Segestca and Bylazora before the Brutii can. Trap the Brutii to only getting Apollona and Salona. Brutii is out for the game. Next head straight for Carthage and take that before the Scipii. At the same time you attack Greece send a few soldiers to take Kydonia and Rhodes. If you do everything correctly the Brutii and Scipii are trapped(Scipii might take Caralis). If done correctly it should be before turn 10.

Interesting idea. How many turns to win the Imperial Campaign with this strategy? It's a bit risky to put the whole army on one ship since pirates may spawn and hit you at any time.

@@OldTotalWarrior It is risky! But the bigger the risk the bigger the reward. If you pull it off! The odds of a pirate attack are random. The odds that you can take out Gaul with two generals(one is about to have a son) and hastatii are not random. Hastatii are OP and Gaul cannot produce one turn units that are equivalent. So Gaul can be defeated with only hastatii produced in the capital. Even if you lose your army to a pirate ship the Julii are pushed towards Gaul. Taking the Mediterranean before Brutii is worth the risk and you lose little if that risk doesn't pay off!

@@OldTotalWarrior It's the same risk with Armenia. It is not profitable to remain in Armenia. Build a port and one ship. Move all your troops and a spy. Leave your diplomat to make money and alliances with Pontus, Parthia, Seleucids, Egypt. Take Athens and Corinth and Thessaloniki so you dont go broke on the boat trip. Move your capital to Athens. Abandon your original cities to revolt. Taking the most profitable region on the map should be the goal with every faction! It only takes 5 or 6 turns at the beginning to change the entire outcome of a game.

Yes. I have an SPQR campaign on KZbin myself. You just have to be careful not to press either the Senate tab or button (game will CTD) and take lots of backups just in case you do by accident.

Farms are actually the best early game😅

I usually build farms for income quickly but here I wanted the other things more and I'm not worried about money at the time since I got the 5000 bonus.

Is a medieval 2 campaign as the Byzantines blitzkrieg even possible?

Well, since a blitz is just conquering as fast as you can, you can blitz with any faction. Just some factions will be better than others.

@@OldTotalWarrior fair enough,what about hotseats? How do you counter a crusade or jihad if you control Byz or Rus,that they dont have the option?

Hotseats in my experience always forbid using exploits and crusades/jihads. Blitzing is not an option since you are not playing the AI but humans who will (or should) provide much tougher opposition.

@@OldTotalWarrior I think he means all the crashes that sometimes can happen and if you don't save between turns you can loose alot if you play for a long time. I do not have theese random crashes between turns anymore but before I had before I rebooted back to Windows 7.

My last campaign was with the parthia vh / vh, after the end turn I was attacked twice buy the Ai , I fought and win but the game just crash and don t let me do nothing after, I didn t quite rember exactly how this happened because it was like a month ago, this game always gave me crashes or bugs , and not only me, serch for rome total war forums and see, even legend of total war had problem with this game on its let s play series, from bugs that block thrle generals bodygurds to units on walls tha don t do or go where you told them, I swer this gams it s very good but have so many problems, i don t play it anymore only company of heroes 1 now.
