Figured I'd wait until the 3000 series came along to upgrade. But we all know how that has went. Refuse to overpay for these cards or any if it never gets rectified. Other hobbies to enjoy as well as other responsibilities more important to spend money on.

Just got into PC gaming, got a pre built. It came with the RTX 3050 so far it's been great. Handles most loads. Just went to a client house for a construction sale and noticed he had a 4090 thing was huge almost took the whole PC tower. I remember a time when the new generation of graphics cards were supposed to be at least the same if not better than the previous generation’s tier-up. Something that can’t be said for the 3050 which doesn’t even comes close to achieving the performance of a 2060. Lowering our standards and comparing it to the 1660 instead of the 2060 (the card that this one should be replacing) is a backwards step.

With its speed, it compares to a EVGA 1660 Ti XC Gaming card I bought in 2018. My card gets 1850Mhz boost and the 3050 gets about that same amount. Granted, my card doesn't have RTX but that's all I'm missing. I paid $280. This 3050 will never be seen for $250.

So far the cheapest one I could find (in stock) was 499€, everything else is 500-600€+... which is plainly insulting and exactly what a 2060 12GB would cost. Other than that it's mostly a paper launch, most (smaller) shops don't even list an RTX 3050, some stopped taking orders because they could never fulfill this demand. What a joke...

You cant cap msrp because new items and more advanced technology makes them more expensive. A good example is the rnd between the old 24nm and the new 5nm chips. If msrp is also limited the only products you will get are ones that break after a few months. Companies need to make money limiting one resource of income will only affect other ones.

I built my first PC in 2019 and boutgh a 580 8gb because I didn't want to spend the $$ for a 20 series as it seemed way too pricey, even though I could afford it back then. About your EVGA card: GN has got a mail saying that the card you got, had the wrong vbios, making it the clock match one of their other cards that's 50$ more expensive if your card was hitting near 2000 MHz, then it was indeed affected EDIT: for those wondering, the more expensive cards I mentionned go for 320$, while the EVGA black goes for 250 (GN mentionned 50$ above msrp, my bad)

I just looked at the actual pricing for a 3050 here in Germany. You can order one from local shops for around 500 Euros (seems like there is actually Stock, but 500 is crazzy). For 20 Euros more you could get a RX 6600 yesterday.

The margin between the 3050's actual price and the 6600's actual price is very small in India as well. There is a massive performance gain in favour of the 6600 for just a little more and I feel Nvidia's AIB partners may have killed this card with their greed.

The graphics card market is a shadow of it's former self, i remember when i bought my GTX 1070 Founders for 450$ back in 2017 thinking that was a big number, now they sell for 800$ or more if you are lucky and still run 90% of modern day games at 60fps, i have since only bought 1660Ti for 280$ which runs the same if not better than this brand new 3050 which since yesterday the lowest price i saw (that was available) was 400$ from Zotac's official website when MSRP is 250$. Nvidia didn't even bother to make a founder's edition for this launch, pathetic.

In UK 6500xt in stock, and not only that, its on sale for 199 Pounds (tax included) so I checked exchange, its 260$ (tax included), reason people don't buy it there is no use for this card, there is no point upgrading if you have older sistem with pcie 3.0, and its like 90% of pc still runs on it, so people who have gtx 1060 or rx 570 or better there is no point to upgrade it, it will be worse then those cards...

Yep. This should be at the level of a 2060 or 2060 Super: not a 1660. Also, last generation was underwhelming, so (especially for the price) the performance should actually be higher: nothing less than a 2060 Super... at ~$200 USD. This card is not a good product: just better compared to something like the RX 6500 XT.

Seems like a good graphics card for someone just getting into computers like myself I got the RTX350 and I don’t play triple A games not yet at least. The graphs were a huge help to see what FPS I’d be getting on more demanding games. I probably won’t be using ray tracing or 4K most of the time since I don’t really care yet and I’m just a casual player at most. Good video!

Little tip for those who want the *stonks* setup... enable integrated graphics in the BIOS and you can use them alongside the discrete GPU. Currently running a 4-monitor setup with an old RX-560 and i5-4460, happy as can be!

Got a Gigabyte Gaming OC version of this GPU. It can run Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on Ultra, Red Dead Redemption 2 on a mixture of Ultra and High, and runs *really smooth.* Honestly I bought it day one just to not get caught in high prices or being forced to buy it from a scalper, and honestly it was worth it, upgrading from a 1050 Ti.

I'm running an Eagle RTX 3050 i5 10400F 16Gb 3200 on a B560 m/b. I can run at 1440p w/RT/HDR and stay within 60fps on most games. Guardians of the Galaxy is the current game I'm playing with these settings. I'm also new to Pc gaming this is my first setup! So this seems a bit biased considering what I get out of my setup. You were right and wrong at the same time. The 20 series is definitely better then the 20 series but it depends which one you get. For example the 3070 is better then the 2060, 2070, 2080 and on par with the 2080ti, the 3060ti is about the same as the 2080 and the 3060 is around the 2060 super and 2070 in terms of power. The 3050 is the weakest one and would be on par with the regular 2060.

I actually owned an MSI gaming X 1650 and I have to say I'm truly enjoying the jump to a 3050 especially with all the overpriced scalpers all I was trying to do was emulate and now I can. In my case that little bit of extra power and vram was exactly what I needed. If you can afford a 2070 or 30 60 or 30 60 TI or 3070 then of course. But for me I was on a very tight budget and I'm not looking to spend over $1,000.

My partner recently upgraded to this card from a gtx 1050Ti. I got his old card and he paid around €300 for it. That was the cheapest we could find it for. Its running pretty smooth and he doesn't play the latest game titles. Overall he's incredibly happy with it and should last a few good years

There's a big issue with you taking the price comparison. A lot of the msrp prices we're seeing on these cards are from the result of 8 years of inflation with very little change in pricing. You can look at the RTX series of cards as a reset to pricing to correct for inflation. 50 series cards were essentially the same price gen over gen for years. Eventually that had to change to account for all the inflation. It doesnt help that we're also in a period of hyperinflation over the last 2-3 years.

In a video somewhere Linus mentioned that inflation is not inflation. Grand example used "A 40" TV used to cost a fortune, nowadays that's not the case", note not the exact quote. As tech gets better the price doesn't necessarily get higher it's the same with storage or pc's in general. And realistically the 3050 is just another 50 card, if you want a better 2060 you can get the 3060 or up. The prices at the moment are just another layer of wack to add to it. Somewhere Linus also mentioned, that the 50 series cards used to launch at around 150, this being launched at around 200-250 is just Nvidia using the situation before third parties make the profit they (Nvidia) can make.

The RTX 3050 is 2% more powerful than a 1660 Super. Your 1660 Ti is 3% more powerful than the RTX 3050 although without the RT and Tensor cores. An RTX 2060 Super or an RTX 3060 would be an approximate 35% improvement over your current card and therefore a meaningful upgrade. The 1660 Ti is comparable in power to the 2015 Titan X, a 1000 USD card or the 2016 GTX 1070, a 450 USD card.

Power is comparable to a 2080 Super. You can easily sell your GTX 1660 Ti for around 400 to 450 USD, so even if you are ovepaying for the 3060 Ti, your current GPU will cover a lot of the cost.

If you rocking the z390 chipset there's no big reasons to build another computer! This is not happening only in GPU's... It's happening in a lot of stuff. CPU's, M.2's,.... If you have an Intel 9900k for example, changing to another generation you'll get a 20-40 fps increase ONLY. 3 CPU generations after and that's what you get. Andddd not to mention the insane TDP they 'drink'. They draw almost the double of the power. Double the power but only a 20-40 fps increase?!? Yupppp, it's that bad. Even the M.2 gen4 drives can be slower than M.2 gen3 drives. It's crazy! That chipset is gold. I may be exaggerating a bit but the truth won't be far from what I've said. Now if you want to run 4K... Those 20-40 fps can make the difference for sure. But I think the budget will be around the 4k mark rather. The GPU alone will hit the 2k. The 4k monitor will be also expensive...

I almost got dubbed by this card, i loved the marketing etc and thought time to upgrade my 2070 Super and posted about it on Twitter an luckily a mate shouted at me to stop immediately.

Just a month ago, I bought a beautiful pre-owned 1070 FE for 350 Euro. If the 3050 will for some reason be available at MSRP, I might slightly regret that choice. If the 3050 will not be available at MSRP (and who really thinks it will be?) then I will lean back and know I've made the right choice.

@@jondonnelly4831 Warranty on Nvidia cards is one year. Not worth paying twice as much. By the time I bought last month, you couldn't get a new 1660 for under 550 where I live. If you were able to get a hold of one. Before the GPU crisis, I was thinking very much like you. Given the circumstances and how long they are lasting already, I am willing to make that compromise.

14:35 well, certainly not with the way the card is produced right now... these things are made with the GA106 die, same as the 3060. Wouldn't be surprised if we see very little supply of these after launch as they either have to get use binning rejects or artificially cut down dies that could have gone into the higher tier product. Nvidia does strategically launch and market their products to make AMD look bad, even if they have to lie through their teeth regarding msrp and projected availability, but they are not going to throw away that much money. They got what they wanted - a bunch of bad publicity for AMD courtesy of easily tricked influencers, now they can go back to swimming in their money

@@anonymouseniller6688 if you think about it 3050(250$ MSRP) vs 6500xt(200$ MSRP) the 3050 leaves it in the dust AMD was just trying to get any kind of gpu into people's hands for an affordable price, while NVIDIA can say "oh that GPU is a cash-grab that can barely run games, here come buy OUR cash-grab for only $50 more that actually runs like a semi-decent GPU"

I have a 1660 super. This is shocking to see that an RTX graphics card is barely any more powerful than the step down model of mine. I have an EVGA 1660 super too so it’s clocked fairly high. Now I know I am never going to buy a 3050 because I would only be squeezing out slightly better performance and RTX support

I am still need to using and building PC's. I made a set up for my son, and it was at the time 3050's came out. For what he needs it works great and he can feel the difference is from playing on console. I had no illusion of this cards position in the world and but I appreciate your knowledge on the marketing comparative

Even without taking scalping into consideration, the MSRP of graphics cards now is just ludicrous and use only set to get worse still. Still stuck here with a GTX 970 until maybe I can get something noticeably better at a reasonable price

I'm still running a rx590 8gig card on one machine and i have a 580 4gig out of an HP.
