I remember playing this on Xbox 360 at 720p essentially low setting at 30 fps, now I have a 3060 90w and 10870h and can easily crush this game at 1080p Ultra 85 to 100 fps. Such an improvement.

the console version pretty clearly had graphics BELOW the lowest pc settings. but 360 did have MSAA

Amazing performance! I upgraded to 1440p in 2015 and tried my gtx 680 on this game and i was only getting 22fps on ultra settings. When I first played through in 2012 I got 60fps 1080p ultra and was a great experience

This is one of my favorite parts of having more modern GPUs. Sure you can run modern games at great settings but how about going back and playing older gems at 4K Ultra without the gpu breaking a sweat. Legit changes the experience especially when you originally played the game at 720P dirt settings.

I know that feeling. Playing something like the original F.E.A.R. at 1440p with the settings maxed all the way out still looks awesome.

Yeah, I played FC3 on PS3. Playing it now with my Radeon 6800 at 4K feels amazing.

I'm doing that plus remasters with my modern RTX PC like 90% of my gameplay time, because the number of games that actually worth to play or look great on modern PC is getting progressively lower. There is nothing better than older great titles at 4K or/and high framerate, especially in comparison to mediocre, ugly games with upscaled resolution and horrible performance.

Very impressive. I had a 6870 back in 2012, therefore my experience with this game was fairly decent, but this is something else. Although I think KZbin's compression destroys a lot of the true 8K look, even if the video resolution is 4K.

Good video. I have a similar pc, 5600x with a 3060ti, 32gb ram, nvme, Windows 10. There must have been an update patch or I was unlucky. Last year I bought Far Cry 3 "Deluxe version" for pc and I had nothing but troubles, it ran like crap, had save game problems. When I disabled SMT, I got that black screen where I couldn't see anything but could move and hear things in the game. I re-installed it, tried multiple drivers, still had problems. I finally just ran it on low at 1080p locked to 60fps. I REALLY liked the story. Funny thing is it ran like a dream on my older pc, 4790 with a gtx 1060 6gb. It's the only game I ever had problems with on my 5600x & 3060ti.

I suppose that disabling the SMT on the CPU actually made a good effect because the first thread is more like the main thread and the second is less prioritized and makes the data flow less. That is kind of no true I guess, but I don't know how to explain it. You didn't really need to stop SMT in the BIOS though, you could have just set the processor affinity in the task manager, ticking alternatively the boxes starting from true. Also I believe that this game was made using a game engine, so you can see the crappy performance (GPU usage).

this is one of the things why i absolutely love PC gaming....you can play old games with very nice graphics - and the game (even old games) will profit from higher resolutions.... if you have money - pc gaming is the way to go.

In my (limited) testing in Valorant using a quad core i7, I saw more performance with HT switched off, too. I don’t know if it’s specific to HT or if it’s related to the total number of threads, but I’ve been meaning to look further into it for a while.

In a few games, VSync is a frame limiter to the gameplay, that it don't let the game have high FPS. On some games, I have it on, because it has no impact on Frames, on some games I got it off, because it limits the FPS if it's on.
