I somehow feel this game can still be improved. I mean graphic fidelity wise. Not improving graphics by using latest and greatest tech, no no no. But bug fixes, more optimization and updating that hell of an anti-aliasing. It sucks that Rockstar abandoned its golden child 😢

Forget AA. RDR2 has built in TAA so it's gonna be like that forever. The only way to "fix" it is by playing it on native 4k

I've really had a good experience with my 3070 but there are certain things I can't do, like the HD textures in Far Cry 6 said it requires 11GB of VRAM! so that was a no go. I haven't tried Black Myth Wukong yet but I feel like it may struggle with that.

Because they ran the numbers and their decision was deemed to be most profitable. Don't overthink it. AMD offers more VRAM because they need to do something to say "hey, we're better in some way" but NVidia knows if they give you less VRAM than you'll need in the near future you'll end up upgrading faster... just wait for the RTX5070 12GB and see how that holds up in 2026 (and ya, I bought the RTX4070 but I couldn't justify an RTX4080 with more VRAM and AMD due to FSR was a non-starter. But the jokes on NVidia. I just won't buy any games that need more than 12GB. That'll teach them... at least not until Star Citizen is playable in 2030 and requires 24GB of VRAM)

This is by far the best game I've ever played! I just hate that it still has poor TAA in lower resolutions (like 1080p and sometimes at 1440p too) even after so many years. I get it, it was meant to be played at 4K but still... For my 1080p friends, if you have a nvidia gpu, activate 2.25x DLDSR upscale from nvidia control panel. For my amd friends, use the in game upscaler and set it to at least 1.5x because 1.25x is not enough. TAA on medium, fxaa and msaa off! You can also try to increase the sharpening from your graphics driver settings (the in game sharpening should be set to 0) Enjoy! And nice video btw!

AMD Does have something similar to DLDSR its called VSR (Virtual Super Resolution). You switch it on and choose a higher resolution from display settings.

U can do a lot of things to prevent the blurry TAA like install a reshade with sharpen and play at 1.250 like me. My game looks almost close as 4k playing with a lot of modsat 1080p(even the bad optimized mexico)

I find that Tree Tessellation is better to be "OFF" and Fur Quality to Medium. Tree Tessellation takes a GPU hit with a quite a high impact and so does High Fur Quality, so if you have a lower end GPU card, it's better to do this. Imo, it's not like your going to run up directly to a tree and admire it's texture presentation and the same goes to a dead animal's fur:)

The reason why the game looks so good is also because the world is avoids large buildings and has open fields which baked lighting fairs way better with since the open fields are way better for that type of lighting

Just picked one of these up for $290 to put in a build for a family member. Great performance and still an amazing card if you're willing to tweak settings to ensure the vram usage is under control. This card definitely should've had 10GB of VRAM though for how powerful it is.

I think the best and optimized settings for 1440p are everything at high, textures Ultra, TAA medium, FXAA ON, No DLSS. You get a crisp and sharp image and never under 60fps.

Sometimes I use upscaling just to lower the power draw and the noise output. I can barely see the diff between native and upscaled image and its nice to drop from 350W to around 200 with the same FPS (RX 6950XT)

At higher resolutions, setting Resolution Scale to like 85% can get you a nice bump in FPS without having to deal with the awful DLSS implementation. It still looks pretty sharp, and much better than DLSS.

If you have a 1080p monitor and some extra GPU power available i implore you to use resolution scaler. I have a 6700xt and putting that slider up to 1.25x is night and day difference. Its how 1080p shouldve looked if not for those muddy effects they put in this game

This CPU has 16 cores and only half of them have 3D Vcache. In some games you get lower performance if the games start using the cores without 3D cache, so to prevent it, I just disable them 🙂

Rdr2 looks great on my 3070 ti at 4k dlss performance with tge newest dlss version via dlss swapper its 60+ fps most of the time the dots in the hair are a lot less noticable with dlss 3.7 than dlss 2.2. I use the hardware unboxed optimized settings with a few settings pushed up a bit higher

Hey Kryzzp, just wondering, dlss always causes a weird effect in motion in rdr2 (old dlss 2 implementation). No camera movement and it looks fine but as soon as you slightly move the camera, a weird shimmering occurs. Is this something you have noticed?

Basically i will have to choose between 4K Ultra with expected 1% lows of 68-69 FPS (instead of 35 FPS 1% of the RTX 3070 seen in this video at these settings) or 100 FPS 1% lows ( 😎) at 4K Benchmark King Optimized Settings instead of 51 FPS as 1% lows seen here on the RTX 3070. This on my upcoming RTX 4080 Super which should be about 96% faster.

I play it on high, but in act 2 I'm finding that I have a lot of stuttering, lagging even though I have Is the same fps something in the game? Memory leak? Use an external monitoring software tool like MSI Afterburner and monitor CPU core and thread usage and VRAM usage (system RAM, 32 GB Is plenty if you have little no nothing running in the background but add the visual graph for system RAM usage too while you are at It). Kryzzp has a video in this channel on how to set-up MSI Afterburner like his.

Ideally no one of your cores and threads should be used to 100% as far as i know (i know very little about this subject).

Ideally you want GPU usage in the 95-100% range but some games are simply too demanding CPU wise so you would still have a CPU bottleneck. GPU at 80-90% means you are using 80-90% of the full power of your RTX 3070 Ti. Only a better CPU can get you closer or at that 95-100% GPU usage. Or using higher graphics settings. Or higher monitor resolution.

@@wilddude1710 The opposite: if your CPU at the graphics settings and resolution you'd like to play let you have 95-100% GPU usage, that means the CPU is fast enough for that GPU. You have 80-90% GPU usage with the 9700K, i was in the same boat with my 9700K and RTX 3080 rig, GPU not fully utilized so i changed CPU for a much faster one. I don't know what's the cheapest CPU you can have with your RTX 3070 Ti to have 95-100% GPU usage at the graphics settings and resolution you'd like to play but in general, if you are looking for a new CPU, get something at least 2x faster than your 9700K BUT only if you are unhappy with your current PC performance. Channels like Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed are a good source to see CPU performances in games, how they compare to each other.

If you have GPU Power to spare use Super Resolution or the in game built-in resolution scale above 100% (1x being native resolution) and disable FXAA and MSAA. Use TAA on medium.
