Uhh…you totally the missed half the point of this PC build vs the PS5 Pro. You should have tested in Baldur’s Gate town area and compared the difference. The Pro is still heavily CPU-bottlenecked just like the base version. I wanted to see how the 12400f handles that area. 😢
@syncmonism17 сағат бұрын
Look, I think the PC is the more cost effective platform, as long as you know what you're doing. The games end up being way cheaper, especially as they go down in price over time, whereas the console games tend not to go down in price very much at all, and the consoles also have those subscription fees for basic services, which are quite high. That being said, the PS5 is not heavily CPU bottlenecked in general, it just can be in some very specific parts of some games, so you're just cherry picking an edge case to support your claim. The CPU performance of the console is also not equivalent to a Zen 2 CPU on PC, because of significant differences in the architecture of the memory, and also because of other efficiencies related to the semi-custom design, and also to the much more developer friendly development environment and development tools, which result in generally much better optimized games. Of course, what PCs lack in optimization, they tend to be able to make up for in raw horsepower. Even the now two generations old 5700X3D is a monster of a CPU, which somehow manages to trade blows with Intel's latest flagship CPU built on a process node that's two generations newer (TSMC 3nm vs. 7nm), and a great upgrade option for people still on AM4.

@@syncmonism You lost me at your second paragraph as it’s basically all false. Cherry picking? There are way more games than Baldur’s Gate that can’t hold 60fps due to CPU constraints. You’re right that the CPU is not equivalent to a Zen 2 CPU on PC-it’s worse. It lacks the standard cache and clocks of desktop counterparts and has to share bandwidth with the GPU. No amount of “optimizations” can account for all that latency. You can’t keep clinging to old PS4 games re-released on PS5 to say “everything runs great” when they use old engines with limited CPU demands. Do yourself a favor and educate yourself with some Digital Foundry videos instead of making stuff up.

I have many complaints about this comparison. 1 - at the end you say not anybody has a couple hundreds to spare. While I agree with the statement, I completely disagree about the piece you are talking about. The pro is the fancy machine. you can get the base for $380. If you going to play the money issue card, get the base model. 2 - Settings on consoles are lower than PC. You can clearly see In ratchet that RT is NOT applied in rough surfaces on the PS5, while it is on PC. It is NOT an apples to apples comparison. 3 - You guys should've talked about upscaling quality level. I kinda got it that on Dragonage, you are not running FSR as low as PSSR. While yeah, PSSR might give a better result, the rendering resolution is different. 4 - You didn't test performance mode. PS5 games are usually CPU limited, which means that the 120Hz mode and sometime 60Hz mode are kinda lacking. With the PC on a 12400F, you can easily run stuff at 120fps. Now to a more general public complaint. A PC is basically a forever box. You don't need to throw away your current one and buy a completely new one. For most, the price of the PS5 killer PC is just the GPU, not the whole system. PC gamers don't lose all their library because a new gen came out. I can play PS3 games. Can a PS5 play PS3 games? I had a dual sense and that controller is trash. The 8bitdo is cheaper and much better. PC is all about choices and you are not locked like a console

The worst advice I've ever seen in my life. A 128bit 8gb card is going to last no where near as long as the 16gb vram ps5 pro. Unless you don't care about 720p or below base renders. As for using a 7 year old cpu... Go and compare i3 12100 versus i9 9900k and be suprised at what you see. You aren't going to be crossing 50fps on a 8700k anymore. It's honestly a great time to be a gamer. Xbox, PlayStation, and PC all offer great value for a really good gaming experience. They all have pros and cons. Consoles biggest con is the subscriptions needed for online gaming. We shouldn't have to pay $ just to game chat and be able to team up with others. PCs biggest con is setup and choice. It's not plug and play. You have to choose parts and then you have to set things up. Not just hardware if you're building but the software side of things. Setting up windows and then installing drivers and then setting up game settings. It's not for everyone. I would like to see a video like this one but for all the price points. MSRP of $300 for Xbox Series S, $450-$500 for PS5/Series X, and $700 for PS5 Pro. Factor in the cost of all the subscriptions needed for online play for 3 years on console ($180 for Xbox Core and $240 for PS Essential) and build a PC at those price point but add an extra $180 to $240 to the budget because the subscriptions aren't needed on PC. Series S I like would still be a killer value for gaming but not so much the others.

I’d also add physicals. I can buy cheaply and sell for the same price or more. I can borrow and lend from friends, rent from the library. I even like having my own collection on my shelf. I also think console gaming is great for couch coop with family and friends in the living room. Switch in particular has a wide range of games that 4 players can play. PC evangelists forget, deny, or choose to ignore that some still prefer these things. PC convenience may have greatly improved, and a digital subscription future draws nearer, but these are still valid reasons to have a console.

The price LTT is comparing to is without sales tax, $699 * 1.15 (VAT) = $803 which is around R15000. Do note that Sony does not have representation in South Africa, unlike most other regions, they're basically all imported instead of usual buy from manufacturer at a lower price. One aspect that isn't covered is that if you already have a PC then the real PS5 killer could be a simple upgrade. Your existing components may be good enough already so you can just spend more on a GPU, and if you have a Ryzen CPU you could upgrade the CPU too without needing a new motherboard. The big advantage of PC is that you don't need to throw out everything when something new comes along and I'd be curious how much better the PC does when you factor in the savings when upgrading instead of buying a whole new rig.

8:07 So this is exactly what I was afraid of. You already lost me at this point if you're trying to match the fidelity. I'm no fanboy, I mostly play PC, but I own PS5, Xbox One X, PS4 Pro, Steam Deck, and Switch, so I have zero brand loyalty because I'm an actual rational human. But going with a card that can only do FSR upscaling is just an immediate loss in the matching fidelity goal. So many people look at still images to judge upscalers, but its in motion that FSR's failure is most obvious, and the smeary dithered ghosting like effect is just awful to my eyes. PSSR has been shown to resolve these details in motion much more like DLSS 2 and above, and its a huge difference if you understand what you're looking at. My main PC is running a 4090, and I run DLSS quality whenever its available, most my experience with FSR is when its the only option in PC games, or on PS5, and its night and day once you understand where it falls apart in motion clarity.

I think people seem to have forgotten a Console can't do shit except play games and watch stuff on it. It's practically useless compared to PC which can almost everything. That alone makes a PC worth it
@InnerFire6213Күн бұрын
"useless" lol. It does what it's supposed to do. Playing games and media. My phone can become my pc if i want it to. Does it make a pc useless?

@@Aman_Mondal Really wish this had more likes. I tell this to everyone. Yeah a console might be more optimized for certain games but a computer is still a COMPUTER. An ENTIRE computer not just a box to play spider-man. The price to usability ratio is as always in the Pc’s favor. Not to mention you can always just… Upgrade the pc parts to be better than any console ever😃 Also Mods!?! Access to every game ever, EMULATION, EASY CONTROLLER INTEGRATION(literally can use anything to control anything) not having to PAY TO PLAY ONLINE?? And it’s STILL a device to art,business, content creation. Forgot to mention because PC’s are upgradeable you can buy one and never have to again. New console generation?? Doesn’t matter my pc was already 6 years ahead. 6 years pass?? Just upgrade the ram and gpu. The $700 for a whole new console could be used for nvidias latest gpu and it will last 10+ years. You’d be lying if you said it took MORE THAN 6 years to get $700 for a gpu. That’s why the price doesn’t mean much because pc’s are built to LAST. Not buy a new one every generation. They pay for themselves in the long run. Why get a console again?🤨

@ I forgot to mention, your Phone can’t emulate a Ps3 and play WWE AllStars Max Settings. And if you have the WRONG CONSOLE get fucked bc the only way you’re playing it is buy buying the right one😃. Also again, gotta pay to play online. On pc I can play an old ps2 game with my homie in Canada. No subscription, any controller I want. With mods. On that same device at the same time streaming it on Twitch, then on that same device make a full length song with the highest industry standard plugins, on that SAME device use 3D modeling/High Grade animation software to make a music video. I can use inkscape or adobe illustrator to make mockups for my clothing brand and setting up a shop or website to sell those is always gonna be more optimized for pc. Your phone can do SOME things. Your console can do SOME things. A good pc can do EVERYTHING Keep in mind, games aren’t made on consoles, they’re made on computers…

This is coming from both sides...and mind you, I've spent over $7000 on my current PC rig--but there are some major points that are missing. First of all, peripherals. Well, at least the keyboard and mouse. A console comes included with one controller, so you need to match that. A keyboard and mouse won't magically appear after you finish building the PC. Granted, if you don't mind the lack of quality, you can probably get some free office grade stuff. Another point, though this one is kinda hard to parse, but audio. TV's come with speakers, but monitors generally don't. So even if you ignore the TV/monitor, you will need to consider an audio speaker or headphone if the cheapo monitor you have doesn't have built-in speakers. Lastly...this one, I'm kinda surprised it's been ignored in pretty much every video like this--and that's shipping costs. Buying from Ebay will most definitely cost you a couple more $ for shipping, per part. And if you live in Canada like LTT, then shipping was like $17 for that power supply. Even if you go pick the parts up, there are transit costs and loss of time. For example, in Japan, most stuff sold on second-hand sites (non-auction like Mercari), the sellers offer free shipping, unless it's really big. Though Yahoo Auction (equivalent to Ebay), most will charge shipping, which can range anywhere from 180yen to over 2000 yen, depending on the size of the package and where you live. Just food for thought.

They included the controller, he mentioned the 8bitdo controller. Don't PS5 and modern PCs both do HDMI out? Won't that go to TVs and monitors? How would the audio options be any different? The shipping costs is a very fair point!
@storkfletcher82123 сағат бұрын
True, and I'd add in another factor - appearance. That big PC chassi, while understated in its looks, is going to look bad in a living room for those that likes having a nice living space since it's so hard to hide. The PS5 Pro isn't what I'd call beautiful in terms of design but it's small enough to be able to be hidden in most TV furniture, and if one likes a clean look you get one with doors to hide the clutter.
@TokyoAkiHara22 сағат бұрын
@@Magusguile You can't use a PC without a kb/m. Even if you include a controller, the PC is practically paperweight without a keyboard. You won't even be able to get past the BIOS on first install. So either exclude the controller and get a kb/m, or get both. Also, I think you kinda missed my point about the audio aspect. This one has too many variables. For example, most people will probably own a TV. But if someone has never had a PC, they probably won't have a spare monitor lying around. Though it could be a new graduate moving into an apartment, and they have neither. In this case, most people who get a computer for the first time will try get a PC monitor and not a TV as a monitor. Why? They'll be searching on the internet for recommendations, and they will be saying to get a monitor. And sure, you can get a cheapo $100 monitor these days (new), less if used, but most likely they won't have built-on speakers.

@@storkfletcher821 Appearance is highly subjective. I wouldnt hide my Fractal North for my Media PC thats connected too my TV even if i could, because it fits greatly to the aesthetics of my room. The one in the video i would agree on though.
@Magusguile16 сағат бұрын
@TokyoAkiHara That is a fair point about the kb/m, I was just pointing out that they did add the controller. My point about the audio is that they could just plug their PC into the TV that they were going to play their PS on. I would imagine if you were replacing your PS with a PC, that would be the case so the audio situation wouldn't change.

You can't compare texture "quality" when the two systems have entirely different HDR/color grading settings. If you can see pixels in one but not the other, sure, but when you're trying to judge sharpness for example, the one with the levels skewed darker is always going to look sharper.

In my country (Turkey) the price of the ps5 pro is 50.000 Turkish liras which equals = 1.456 usd. With that money you can buy a 32gb 7500f 4070ti super build. So it may be a better option in U.S but there is literally no reason to buy that in Turkey.

I think the problem in your country is import fees. Nations like that get less consoles so they (resellers) usually bump up the prices. But thats not Sony's fault. Pretty sure its the same thing with other products in your nation like Im sure an Iphone in your country is more expensive then what it usually costs

I think it'd be useful to include shipping costs when considering used parts, if each is from a different seller that $7-15 time over time can add up. Especially when you can drive down the road to a GameStop/retail store to pick up a brand new console.
