4000 series are all about Ray Tracing performance and Frame Generation which is great. You won't be able to play some future games at max settings without it. Cyberpunk 2077 Overdrive and Witcher Next Gen are first examples.

Love is not money, money is money = a form of exchange for products. Love is an emotional feeling that is either conditional or unconditional (preferably the latter). Nvidia didn't scam you. The definition of a scam is to lie about a product and it turns out to be entirely different than what they advertise. You use the term scam because you feel you aren't getting more out of the money you used to exchange for a Nvidia GPU, not because they scammed you. There is a very clear difference. No doubt it is disappointing that nvidia isn't giving you what you want, but calling them a scam just makes you an even more unreasonable person than what nvidia is doing currently.

i think a 35% improvement has always been the nvidia standard over the same class of the previous generation. the 4070 is the last of the acceptable ada cards. The 4060ti on the other hand has maybe a 10% improvement over the 3060ti.

The worst part about this is that DLSS 3 doesn't even work correctly in a shitload of games, and if your FPS is below 30, it basically stops working with no performance gains at all. In Spider-Man test all of you can see the difference how game optimization, videocards and their drivers work - @6:00-6:15 smoke effect disappears differently. On 3070 it's smooth, on 4070 it's almost instant

Built my newest PC in January 2021 ( 3070 OC edition, 10700k, and 16gb of vengeance @3600mhz). Here I was thinking it was time for me to upgrade, sell my pc, and build a whole new one from scratch... I think now I'm going to keep my PC until the 5XXX series GPUs and 14th-15th gen processors. The 3070 was such a HUGE jump in performance from the 2070 Super I had in my last PC that I thought the 4070 would be the same. Apparently not. Edit: if you're in the market for a 3070 while they're cheaper now just know that when games like MW2 first came out you could get 144fps @ 1440p all ultra settings with DLSS 2.0 on Quality... but since they've done so many updates and graphics improvements to take advantage of the 4XXX GPUs power I now only get 100fps on the same settings and 80-95 on warzone. I wanted to reference MW2 just because it's a really popular game.

As a general rule, always skip at least one gen. The way NV (and AMD to some degree) position their stack is that last-gen cards are moved down the stack one to two performance levels (i.e. 2080ti becomes 3070, GTX 1070 becomes 1660 Super, 980/970 becomes GTX 1060). If you skip a gen, your performance will have moved 3-4 tiers down, so you'll be in time for an upgrade (or delay again and just drop settings to compensate).

The raw performance of the 4070 is pathetic. If you compare the specs of it to the 3070, you will see that it is a minor hardware upgrade over the 3070. The 4070 is mostly a software upgrade because the only thing that makes it significantly faster than the 3070 is DLSS 3. It's pathetic that they relied on upscaling and Frame Gen. The only significant hardware upgrade the 4070 has had is VRAM. It's also based on a new architecture with more enhanced RT Cores and higher core clocks, which count as hardware upgrades. But that's to be expected for a next gen GPU. The hardware of the 4070 is a joke, which is why it is only slightly faster than the 3070 in terms of raw performance. Nvidia is using software technologies such as DLSS and Frame Gen as the main selling point of their GPUs, which is a big problem. This GPU is definitely not worth it at $600. I can't imagine how bad the 4060 and 4060 Ti will be.

All of the games are tested in 4k. If you think 3070 is 4k card than you have no idea what you're talking about. 8GB VRAM is enough for 1440p. That's the target of 3070. But yes, 3070 should have 12GB, and 4k would be viable option in newer games on medium. Now it's 1440p on high and as you see in this video even with 8GB vram 40-80fps on high 4k depending on the game

Yes I'd love me some memory and 8GB is a joke with 3070 but I bought it when market crash and my old GPU broke so I had to choose something available and with very good bang for the buck yet that can game in 1440p (before 4000 and new AMD's gpu 3070 was in 4th or 5th place overall if I recall correctly). If i could go back in time I'd probably still choose 3070 over 3060Ti which is cheaper and has 12GB, but price/performance difference was almost the same (even better for 3070 but it's because 3060Ti was really good gpu for MSRP) that a lot people wanted to buy so it was out of stock, so retailers raised the price to the moment that 3070 was $50 more. But it's outraging that 3060Ti has 12GB memory and 3070 8GB AND 3060Ti HAS GDDR6X while 3070 have standard GDDR6. If both had 12 GB and GDDR6X I wouldn't complain. I wish AMD's GPUs were cheaper in Poland, they are almost $50-100+ to American market because in Europe AMD's GPU doesn't have much of a market. Retailers take a risk buying them in bulk so they buy 500-1k cards which not only are overpriced but they are insta sold. There's too few of them, and they are too good if you don't care about Ray Tracing like I do, my next card will be team red for sure. And I'm that kind of person that don't see the difference between high and ultra usually (if I'm not specifically looking for a minute on one screenshot to other) but fps-wise difference is massive, ultra + RT even drops from 70 to 30 fps, and ultra drops from 70 to 45-50 in more demanding games in 1440p. it's funny cause i got my 3070 in october last year, when the price finally dropped to around 600 dollars, which was already 2 years later than launch. but in order to get a upgrade (4070 for the same price) I would have had to wait more than half of another year till this may 2023. another card i could have gotten in the meantime was a 6800 in the same price range, and while it has the fps of a 3080, its ray tracing performance cant keep up with even a 3070. but yeah for those who waited, dont settle for anything below a 4070. those 600 dollars are well spent. the next higher thing is a 4070ti that costs another 250ish dollars but for what? same 12GB vram as the 4070, and 4k is so demanding these days that not only will it run into vram issues at that resolution, but even fps wise it can barely call itself a 4k card

Too many bad optimized polygons and triangles. More recent technologies make more efficient to render details and make good use of the DLSS AI. You can see that on Forza Horizon 5 where the game looks incredible and it runs smooth, even if you are moving fast with a car and are forcing the game to render faster new textures and assets.

The 4070 is how alrady many have pointed out a 4060ti priced higher than a usual 70 series card for less gen improvement. Its the smallest gen improvement since the GTX 670 for the highest price increase a 70 series card ever saw. For gaming theres no reason to not get the 6950XT instead. If youre a content creator then you have to pay the price bc AMD still isnt on par when it comes to Video de-/encoding.

The VRAM is not the issue here, 8 GB is still enough for these days, if there are nedded more, then RAM takes the surplus and everything is ok, in TLOU my RAM use 10Gb more but I play on 3070 smooth and no issues. At this point the 4000 series is a joke, except energy efficience.

I get that everyone needs to find a way to hate the corporation, but the 4070 IS the best card for it's price range hands down. Where it ties with the 3080 in frames, it does it with a lot less power consumption and yes you do get the software upgrades with DLSS 3 and frame gen. So I get an average of +68% increase in fps/watt. I think people are exaggerating that these cards are no good value. This is a big uplift in perf./watt. Last gen cards are power hogs that would keep you warm through an ice age. New gen cards run cooler and with better performance. Only change is the price and even if we consider the price increase we still get increase of +40% perf./watt/dollar which seems pretty decent to me.

angry people from comments forgot about frame generation on 4070, this feature boosts fps 2/2.5x. In addition, i'm playing with this card in warzone with framegen on and got no latency with input or something else, as many people talking about. Maybe 4060 got this problem because of low memory bandwidth (128 bit), but i don't care. (bcs only 4060 and 4060ti got this problem)

Idk I got a 3070 from eBay for 225$ from eBay , to use in my second rig and it was Ventus 2x, there was gygabite and zotac for 215 but I went with msi and it still does everything as my main rig with 4080super , sure it’s a tad slower but for 225$ it’s still running excellent

I am upgrading cpu to ryzen 5 7600 . And it pairs with my 3070 perfectly. No bottleneck each other in fullhd, qhd, 4k. I also Think about upgrade gpu to 4070 but ryzen 5 7600 will bottle neck it. I play at 4k medium to high setting and i got framerate around 50-70 vrr in most AAA games. It is ok already. And also please you do not need to play game in ultra setting. During playing, No one can see and tell difference between ultra and high. Not worth the lost frame rate. Moreover, On many AAA games, medium and high also have very similar graphic quality.

@Pawcio2115 The 6950 XT destroys the 4070 in every performance aspect. The 4070's raw performance is awful because it's a minor hardware upgrade over the 3070. The only significant hardware upgrade it has had is VRAM. Obviously, it's based on a newer architecture with higher base and boost clocks and has faster, more enhanced cores than the 3070, which counts as a hardware upgrade, but that's to be expected for a next gen GPU. It feels like Nvidia gave the 4070 the bare minimum amount of hardware to even call it a 4070. The 4070 is a 4060 Ti in disguise.

@@Pawcio2115 Yh 4070 is weak in RT. And no, the 5600 isn't the best option for the 6950 XT. For the 6950 XT, I would recommend you get the 5800X or even better a 5800X3D. The 5800X/5800X3D are still fast CPUs, and you can buy them fairly cheap now.

ultra is pointless. Tried the last of us, jedi survivor , forspoken, hogwarts. And the results from all ultra settings vs all low looks about 85% the same. Did try in 1440p, but this alone proves as a witness how graphics settings dont mean anything anymore as its all nearly the same picture quality the big difference is resolution now.

The 3080 and 3080ti are power houses by all means, but they require a lot of power to get there. I don't regret going to a 4070ti tbh

i think Nvidia could've fully cooked with these cards, they just decided not to. Look at the power draw, its so much lower then the 30 series. All they really had to do was just provide as much or more bus bandwidth as the previous gens same or more cuda cores. And it would've been fine, they unecessarily nerf they cards just to save themselves the extra bit of cash. only the 4090 gets everything plus some more.
