I'm currently playing this game with this card on high settings, plus FG, and besides some fps drops I'm having a blast at 60-100 FPS. So much hate for this card when it performs wonderfully in a game as unoptimized as this, and all for a 470 dollar card, I mean what are we talking about!!

The only real lower options you can go is a 3060/3050, or a 10 series which are arguably...only for video watching to be honest. 4070 is the mid level, 4080 is the premium card, and the 4090 is the "money isn't a problem and I don't care about my electrical bill" option. You can argue all you want, but im not wrong. 8gb is THE minimum for gaming these days and guess what is 8gb of vram? The 4060.

12:45 thats because pretty much all the effects in ue5 are temporal based, so as soon as your view velocity changes, it has to compute all those effects. And its really hard to use unreal without those temporal effects.

The massive stutter happens no matter what if you're using an 8GB card with FG it may take about 1-2 hours of playing and usually kicks in near any preset area with more than 5 npcs (not just the hubs). It even happens without FG but you just lose anything from 10-20 FPS and it keeps detoriating. Sometimes you can normalise frames if you pause the game and leave it on the pause menu for a minute, or if you switch FG off or change DLSS to any other settings. But it will fill up both the RAM and VRAM so it's clearly leaking, there is a reason things are being constantly culled like bodies and debris from boxes, Only way to properly fix it is to keep restarting the game. Also if you want to test this maybe the best way to induce it is to have FG on, and keep opening and closing the PDA in a town, along with opening your storage stashes or entering leaving the town a lot.

@@TommyConlin its absolutely is NOT AI because the GPU is at 99% at those 35fps and 51fps afterwards. Its 100% is a visual thing, not CPU (aka AI processing) thing. If you look at that concrete path, you can quite easily imagine they messed something up with it, its quite detailed. These things get out of hand easily, when u absolute joke of a dev and implement full detail model. I think the quadrilateral details on the surface of the concrete path are physical model with 1mil polygons, full detail model got in the game. Too bad I dont have the game, I could prove it easily, or find the exact model which is causing it. But I will not touch this stuff for at least 6 months, and this is one of the reasons.

God knows how many such issues are in the game. Because this for sure is not the only instance where they made this error. I use this GPU as a daily driver hooked up to a 5600x and i get almost the same FPS (2-3fps difference) no matter which setting i use. No matter if Low of Epic Settings. My GPU usega is always around 70-80% which would suggest im on a CPU Bottleneck but my CPU Usage is at 60% usage aswell. If all comes down to bad optimization. I will wait till everything is fixed and then propbaly play the game on 1440P on High or Epic Setings with DLSS Q.

The _(AMD GPU, although Intel, NVidia are probably likewise)_ Linux Proton Benchmarks _(or Linux Baremetal installations of a Linux OS)_ look more stable than on close-equivalent (AMD GPU) hardware computers with Microsoft Windows. RAM usage differences and so on, all doing well. GPU drivers would thereby differ from those on MSWindows, proprietary, community, etc. If that is anything to go by, the game will get a patch for MSWindows at some point if that is anything to go by. This then raises the question of how well people will be able to run the game on Linux within a Hypervisor-or-VM _(native or otherwise VM)_ in MSWindows with passthrough GPU IOMMU (VMdq, SRIOV) as though solving at least some of the issues, such as RAM usages. As an aside, a BSD hypervisor like say BHyve _(or even using a BSD-Jail)_ with GPU passthrough for Linux by means of the BSD to Linux compatibility layer could be interesting. Latency for GPU passthrough would be to watch for. Also, MacOSX virtualisation to Linux to run the game could be an interesting test, in benchmarking. My comment has no hate in it and I do no harm. Have you tried testing different CPUs in this game? Seems like this game needs a very strong CPU to keep 60 fps. My 5600X drops to the under 20 fps sometimes in heavy combat with the GPU percentage down- showing a CPU bottleneck. I may refund the game at this point.. unplayable on my system imo.

I'm gaming on a Laptop with a 4070 Mobile 8GB 140w, i7 13700h and 32GB 3200mhz DDR4 Ram @ 1440p. In the Village I can achieve even more, 45 - 50 FPS with DLAA and the exact same settings. But with DLSS Q and Frame Generation enabled, I can't get more than 80, maybe sometimes short-term 90, outside of the village. So interesting that my laptop is performing better with DLAA, but much worse with the extras enabled.. Still running out of VRAM many times, even with the optimized settings and medium textures. But it seems to happen very randomly. Sometimes, I can play 2 hours, no issues at all, sometimes after some minutes already running out of VRAM. Bad optimization of games and nvidia being greedy with the VRAM is a really lovely combination. Especially when you mention the prices of GPU's and/or laptops these days.. When the game runs well, I really love it. The atmosphere is awesome. I also played the first stalker on a ATI 4850 (lol), so I definitely can tell I can feel the charme of the old stalker games. In my opinion, buying a game on release, or even in the first year, is not a good idea anymore. The hardware you need for 1440p gameplay is ridiculous, and the games are many times not really playable in a "having fun" way. Better wait a year, pay half the price for the hardware and get the game on sale for the half price with the most bugs finally fixed. The tricky part, avoiding spoilers on youtube for a year 😅

Oof. Yeah, the randomness is exactly why running out of VRAM is so annoying, you don't know when it happens and it screws with your performance target. Buying a laptop with 8 GB VRAM was probably not a good idea, as you can't just upgrade your GPU. Atleast you have learned your lesson though. As someone with a 2060 laptop, I will ride that thing until I can get something with atleast 24 GB VRAM so I can have fun for a very long time. Or better yet, wait for that Nvidia ARM SoC.

@dampflokfreund so true.. just sad that with the nvidia cards, it's really mostly about the vram. I had a 3070 desktop and later a 4070ti desktop card. The gpu power itself and the features like dlss are awesome. Very annoying when the gpu power itself with dlss could keep up, but the limiting factor is the vram. Especially when I think about that my rx580 and later my 2060 super also already had 8gb.. Now I sold my desktop setup because I'm traveling a lot due to my job and so i was looking for a gameable replacement to my setups I was used to. The price gap between a 4070 and 4080 laptop was just too crazy. A 4080 laptop was about 3200+ € to this time, my 4070 laptop was 2200 €. Buying mid-tear hardware for a high price to play on low settings after a year of usage. Crazy times 😄 Yeah, I'm looking forward to the ARM systems too, better Battery life is really needed. The M1 macbook really showed what is possible and since then, I'm waiting for an windows equivalent here..
