I have a dell xps 8940 - 500 watt platinum psu, - currently i have a i5-10400 and gtx 1050 ti - i have an i7-11700k and rtx 3060 ti, and i have an rx 6700xt: the thing is the 3060 ti runs around 175w to 250w, the i7 is 95w tdp but runs around 45w to 75w while gaming. I would rather keep my 3060 ti, but it is running to max gpu length, i may have to not use an intake fan to accommodate the GPU, the 6700xt fits nice, and runs around the 175w to 250w, If I undervolt the 6700xt will I be able to get away with using the i7-11700k with the 6700xt using the 500 watt platinum psu, I appreciate you taking the time to read this and all your help, looking forward to your next video - peace

Hey, thank you so much for the nice comment, yeah it's all well and I hope to make more videos with new GPUs and tests soon :) About the power supply question I think it would be perfectly fine to have any combination of those as 500w should be enough for them as they would use around 400-450w max, but it's not as simple as that. There can sometimes be issues with spikes as even if the parts are rated for that power and use that while gaming some tasks can make the power consumption to spike and if the power supply can't handle it you could shut it down or trip it's protection mechanisms (I don't know if dell ones have it but I'm assuming they have it) like for example on tasks that would push the CPU really hard making it draw more power, and the same can happen with the GPU. The best way to know for sure it's to try it and see how it goes, if the computer shuts down or the GPU or apps crashes while using it then it can't. But you seem to say both GPUs hover around the same power consumption so it should work fine. And also if not you can undervolt and limit the power of the GPU or force the I7 to run at a lower power limit via the BIOS by limiting it's tdp (I think dell should allow that on their BIOS) by doing it you would only loose a little bit of performance and depending on the binning on your GPU sometimes you won't even notice or just loose a couple of MHz. For example I run my RTX 3080 at 55% power on summer and the clocks are only 200-300mhz less than with it at 100%. So try to do the swap and let me know how it goes. :)

I was on the verge of buying 1440p monitor while using 3060ti. Good thing i didn´t do that and went with 1080p instead. The chapters are messed up btw.

I had a 1080p 24 diagonal minitor, but I quickly got tired of it, since you need to sit close to such a monitor in tension to see something. Then I bought a 1440p 32 inch, it was the best purchase for relaxing near my PC without straining. By the way, the video card is also 3060ti
