I don't think it is necessary. From the 4K Max Settings tests, we can already imagine that it will perform incredibly well at lower resolutions, at least double the performance for Quad-HD and even more for Full HD.

Generally not really. At lower resolutions you'd be more CPU bound. These cards perform best around 1440p which would make for the best comparison.

I use a external monitor all the time. It's the best way to do it. And 1440p is the sweet spot for these. I have the 3080ti version thru MSI and it's a beast

These laptops do not have a 4k screen, they are 2k screens with 165hz refresh rate so play at 1440p with high fps and take advantage of better sharpness. visually you won't see the game in 4k.

@@Lead999 4k tvs only support 60hz, so you can play in 4k resolutions at around 45-55 fps. but for example, if you play competitive multiplayer games like Fortnite, call of duty, CSGO, overwatch, etc. you should play on the laptop screen at 165hz because you will have more sharpness, less distortion and better response time. when you move the weapon abruptly from one side to the other, the image will not be distorted. You will have advantages over players who play on generic 60hz monitors. this is why auros laptops are the best for e-sports because they have 1080p 360hz screens.

geez only 10-20fps more for $1000-1500 more. Why 1k+? because for me its going to be a loss to sell my 3080ti laptop no matter where and then buy a new laptop with a 4080. I'll wait for the 50-series or just keep my 3080ti till it dies. Anyone buying new should go for the 4080 obviously unless you want to save a ton of cash, find a 30-series used 3070ti you'll be fine till 50-series Or buy used 3080ti if you understand that the 16GB ram is going to be the new norm. Because today's 2024 games are making use of >8GB of VRAM. 3070ti has 8GB so it may not be the best choice unless you find one dirt cheap. Honestly buying a NEW laptop was the worst decision I have made in many years, I should have bought a used 20-series and when the 40-series came out I could have bought a CHEAP 30-series, but noooo, I needed the biggest baddest newest 30-series and jumped on a 3080ti for an Arm and a Leg, now when I sell this, I will barely make back 50% of what I bought it for.

Bro have you even used the 4080 laptop yourself? Mine did fine across a wide range of games at 2k max settings, even with a lower power limit set in place. Control ran at 2k 68fps everything to the max with just 147W, and just turning on a dlss quality will bump it up to 109fps. For Lego Builder’s Journey, 2k everything cranked, 129fps at 140W, or if you want the efficiency route 102fps at 97W. A simple DLSS will again bump this up to 160fps territory at sub 100W. A 4090 laptop will be roughly 20% faster in game (compared to my 4080 laptop at 140W), so you simply cannot expect the 4090 laptop to run games that the 4080 laptop simply cannot run well.

@@clarkisaac6372 How do you define “very well”? I don’t think there is really that big of a difference between the 4080 laptop and the 4090 laptop, even if the 4090 is 25% faster at 4k. One will run the game at 80fps, the other will do 100. There is still the difference, but it is nothing that big. Plus, since I have a desktop with a 7900xtx to do 4k gaming at home, I rarely play games with my laptop plugged into an external 4k monitor. The display that came with the laptop is 2k 240hz, and the 4080 laptop GPU is coping very well with it.

@@clarkisaac6372 As for 4k gaming, you literally need a desktop 4090, which is almost 70% faster than the laptop 4090 to get a high refresh rate experience with maxed out settings (with the exception of cyberpunk, the overdrive setting at 4k will bring a desktop 4090’s frame rate to a cinematic 24fps without dlss)

@@clarkisaac6372 oh and btw, I’ve checked with some reviews about the difference between the 4080 laptop and 4090 laptop at 4k, and it is roughly 15%😂 So, if you want to go 4k ultra, your best bet is the desktop. No laptop GPU can handle every game at 4k(no upscaling) ultra, and the small performance difference in 4k really don’t make up for the large price difference between the 4090 laptop and the 4080 laptop
