My favorite parts are anytime you stopped or went slowly through an area so I could just take in all the detail. There's so much! Like the lighting, the shadows, the reflected lighting, the textures on the couch and pillows, and the reflections on the wood floorboards, every pebble has its own little shadow, light filtering in through trees, the shimmering snow, the embers on builds in the fires, the effects under water! It's nuts to look at all the details! It's so good so clean so pretty!

There's a noticeable difference even on old gen consoles. It's kinda crazy how they updated the graphics so much while still managing to keep a stable framerate.

I think on old gen it's more about it being a style overhaul instead of being a tech improvement. Technically low-end consoles and devices still use all the previous technologies. But the game looks different because they chose a slightly more realistic artstyle in general.

UE 5's last update gives better foliage tech with the LESS processing power, because wizards. Light now works more realisticall, as well as reflections and shadows, these are some of the most complex things to do in games, especially with real-time. Notice the clock face had real-time reflections of the character. This is generally NOT done for performance reasons. There are still some non-reflection surfaces that would reflect IRL, the black orb thing in particular has no reflection of the character, despite a reflection updating from breaking the wall. Deadass... fortnite looks better than most AAA MMORPGS from the last 10 years.

As much as I was looking forward to a new season, I had no idea it was going to be THIS good. I picked up the game heavily when Zero Build was finally dropped, but even after delving into the history of previous maps and whatnot, this is the absolute best one yet. I though DX12 would still be in beta, but whew boy was I wrong. The game looks STUNNING. Each small rock has it's own shadow, and the lighting on everything else is breathtaking. Even the individual spokes on the wheels of the dirt bikes cast accurate shadows. I'm running it in 4K (or 2K on my PC) via GeForce Now 3080 and I'm still blown away each time I drop into a match. Hell, even the lobby looks great. Graphics aside, I'm adoring the new map, and despite seeing others complain I like the weapons a lot too. Battle Pass is 150% on FIRE this time around and I don't feel like I'm dragging my feet completing it. Bravo to the team who went behind making it happen.

The way light realistically bleeds through the treeleaves is just like in real life. Lumen is basically simulating ray tracing in real time. That along with nanite proves there are gonna be a lot of great games coming up in the future on unreal

It's a beast you'll love it! I had it capped at 60fps but it prolly wouldn't get much more with full RTX enabled, maxed settings and 4K res. That's pushing it haha

Though I will say that one game where I was running on dirt and going into a house and on the way in instead of going around it I jumped over a mailbox and caught it for one step instead of full clearing it and it had the tinny ring of the mailbox being hit definitely caught my ear.

This really makes me wish more games have the balls to transfer to a new engine when it gives a bunch of new possibilities. Like, I liked rainbow 6 siege for example, but after some time it just got old. And they explicitly said they wont come with a sequel for years to come; they will just make new maps and characters.
