I know! When she said she knew what this woman suffered with but didn’t want to diagnose her without evaluating her, I was wondering if she thinks the woman is Borderline? I don’t have my PHD, just my B.A. in Psychology, and I’m not an expert on personality disorders, but that was my only guess.

I can relate to this woman's children. My mom has borderline personality disorder and she can be sweet as pie one minute and flip a switch and turn aggressive the next. I don't have a good relationship with her now that I'm older. I wish I could handle my relationship with her gracefully as you handled your neighbor, but there are so many years of pain there that I'm not sure that'll ever be the case. 😔

bookworm098 yeah, it’s a whole other story when this person is your mother. It is incredibly complex and can never be simplified or addressed in the way I responded to my neighbor. BPD is a challenge to deal with, many hugs to you ❤️

Eliza Joyner I had never watched her videos before (now that I’ve watched a bunch I see she mentions it in other videos) but her talking about how she handled the situation with the neighbor was my biggest clue but also how she talks about sharing spaces and certain words she uses- a light bulb went off in my head and I was like wow she sounds like me and my colleagues when we are at work 😄

Your story reminded me of something my mother has told me before. She’s a hairstylist and gets all kinds of clients, and I’ve also worked for years in customer service. She’s told me how sometimes the meanest grouchiest customers/clients etc can be turned around when you show them patience, try to help them out etc instead of returning their meanness to them, and in some cases it’s true! Your neighbor seemed to know you understood her and you showed compassion to her and boom she became quite a different person because of the way you handled her with empathy when she was going through the difficult time of the loss of her husband. Sometimes that’s all it takes to turn someone around like that, a listening ear and compassion. My mother has stories like that with customers and I have stories like that as well. It doesn’t work with everybody, but when you can sense that this person just isn’t used to being handled with patience, that’s usually when your kind behavior towards them does the job, not that it’s easy:)

I’d say there’s a few things going on here: 1. She came over to tell you about her husband’s health problems because she probably doesn’t have too many people to talk to (probably driven a lot away with her sour attitude). 2. A moment presented itself. She could use remorse as a way of deflecting what had happened in the past (her ego was too big to admit she was wrong so you feeling sorry for her was the perfect time to reestablish a speaking relationship and forget the argument). 3. Who knows what her parents were like (or what her relationship was like with her husband). I’d guess that she’s a bit older now and likes things going her way. So she finally has freedom but now that she has it... it’s lonely (grass isn’t always greener). She’s just excited to have any human interaction these days, so she’s excited whenever she sees you. Based on your description, I’d say you handled this situation very well. The hug part really showed that you were the bigger person.

If you need clorox wipes you might want to try a local mom and pop type store to get wipes. There's a tiny mom and pop grocery store here and they've managed to keep sanitizing wipes, bleach, hand sanitizer, etc. in stock because they have a smaller customer base and didn't/don't let people hoard, because of that there's usually enough for everyone.

I’m my opinion she’s the same as being a bully. Most bulllies are used to people not standing up for themselves. I think the reason she came to you is that she respected the fact that you did stand up for you and your family. Sounds like maybe she has in turn been bullied herself at some point in her life. It's so crazy that you posted this video because I just went through a very similar (life-long) situation with my mother. I decided about a week ago that I couldn't peacefully keep her in my life anymore. But your reaction to your neighbor reminds me a lot of my reaction to my mom the last time I spoke to her. I feel like this video is a sign that I did the right thing standing up for myself. You are so kind. I hope one day someone can get through to my mom.

I LOVE THIS!!! The sticky cleaner rolling over the keyboard, your soft-spoken voice, your thoughts behind why the neighbor is the way she is, and honestly I love how the story ended. I didn't expect that but it was better than something overly juicy where I would've felt enraged by the ending anyway 😅 THANK YOU Green Beauty! Oh and as far as other ideas of what I want to hear about, I'd love more of those psychology talks like the one you did on attachments in adults, that was incredibly interesting. This one ASMRtist I found recently, Be Brave Be You, did this mental intake psychiatrist role play where she pretended she was admitting you into a psychiatric hospital due to self-harm and it was very comforting and warm and one of the first thoughts I had was, "this is amazing and Green Beauty could do a GREAT version of this, too" so something like that would be really cool. I love when you talk about the things you've learned in your career, it's fascinating and relaxing all at once. Couldn't ask for a better combo!

This is a good lesson in questioning everything, specifically the old adage of “respect your elders”. Do we really need to respect our elders? Do they deserve it? In some cases, no. In some cases, yes. It depends on the person. But ask yourself, does why does this person deserve my respect, if at all? I feel like that quote was created as a way to prevent young people from hurting older people’s feelings. As a way to say “I am the adult, you aren’t, do what I say”. I say we change that phrase to “Respect your elders, if they deserve it”

pain can completely morph a person. this is actually a beautiful story. i’m sure she’d been bottling up all this rage and pain from the lack of relationship with her daughter, grandchildren, etc, that her husband dying was just the tipping point. instead of becoming even more bitter and hostile, she just let go. simply let go. it seems as though she was tired of fighting. and that’s because of you. you showed her kindness, warmth, and love, something she most likely hadn’t felt in a long, long time. you’re an amazing person, hope you’re staying safe xx

Too relaxing. I’ve listened 3 times and fell asleep long before the end all 3 times. But I’m persistent and confident that at some point I’ll find out what happened with the neighbor 😂. Thanks, GreenBeauty.

I'm listening to a woman that is cleaning her old keyboard and spilling tea on her neighbours and I'm loving every second of it

Sounds like she has a slight personality disorder. I'm sorry you went through this but your an empath, like me 🌻 It's always so nice "hearing" from you. I remember vividly when you bought the house and our tours you gave 😌 All the best A!! --Lisa

This was so interesting to listen to! My parents have had a lot of similarly unsolicited neighbor drama. I enjoyed hearing how you handled the conflict and set your boundaries (even without a fence haha). I find it so fascinating. I struggle a lot with confrontation. I always avoid it because I think I will automatically make it worse.

yeah, that is a natural feeling. and sometimes I can make it worse so you definitely need to be prepared for what follows. which is why I think it is so important to take a few days to collect yourself before addressing it in the moment.

Hello! You're a great storyteller. I was trying so hard to stay awake but because I'm nosey I didn't have to try. I think you handled it very well. There's nothing like peace in your home.

I can totally relate to this. Our neighbours at our first home were really inconsiderate and would start drilling through the walls at 3am etc, without a second thought. I knocked the door to ask them politely to stop, I was assaulted by the husband. Police were involved and it was an awful living situation. We moved 2 years later. It was heartbreaking x
