Ruah in Hebrew originally denoted the air, the atmosphere and the great space between earth and sky; as well as that impalpable reality that sometimes manifests itself with the devastating force of the storm, a reality on which man's life depends and which he is totally unable to govern. Old Testament biblical thought is inevitably led to link this reality to God, the Creator of the universe.
