Concise video. I put a rubber band around the front of the motor to hold it tight on the crochet hook. If you are winding with a drill take the chuck off and drill a hole to take the winder wire.

I understand the need for a dethermalizer to avoid losing your models. But if the model is always going to "parachute" down via the DT where is the enjoyment of watching a model plane glide in like a real aircraft?

It will glide in and land if you don't catch a thermal. Most flights it will. Just set the timer longer than it will fly in "dead air". Catching a thermal is when the magic happens. Murphy's Law, if you don't activate the timer, it will fly away...
