Based on Madelon Székely-Lulofs' controversial book about the lives of planters in the Dutch East Indies.
John is working long hours at a colonial rubber plantation. Against the advice of his grumpy boss, he has his fiancee come over from the Netherlands to live with him. However, soon after the wedding, she gets bored and lonely.
