I remember first watching this back in middle school. Since I am now in college, it’s really amazing how Star Wars has changed over the years with new characters and storytelling, even in its space battles. If Disney adopted the old EU books, then we would’ve loved to see much better battles and new planets.

Nerdy Nachos Cars have mufflers, houses have drafty corners, and Death Stars have exhaust ports. They ray shielded the exhaust port on the first Death Star and made it 2 meters wide, reducing the chances of the enemy shooting a torpedo down the exhaust port to .00001%. Also, the giant hole was the result of the second Death Star still being under construction, not a part of the design.

Caleb Morgan General Veers: Remember, the Second Death Star was still under construction when it was destroyed. Fortunately, we still have a lot of projects that will make the Rebellion wet themselves and grovel in fear. The only reason we did not use these super weapons at Endor is the Emperor cut the budget in order to fund the construction of the Second Death Star. However, the fact that they were not completed before the Battle of Endor gives us an advantage over our unsuspecting enemies: the rebels are too busy celebrating their victory at Endor to target the construction sites until they are fully operational.

VulpisFoxfire In Star Wars, both sides use two dimensional thinking. In reality, the lack of gravity would allow you to maneuver however you want in battle.
@VulpisFoxfire9 жыл бұрын
Frank G That's true as well, though partly due to Star Wars space fights being based more on groundside naval and air dogfighting than anything else. What I meant, though, is that it seems like even then, the capships keep getting close enough to be able to see the opposing gunners' nose hairs (well, if they weren't wearing helmets or weren't droids, anyway...)
@Swidhelm9 жыл бұрын
+Frank G Not however you want. G force is still a thing, so you can only pitch, roll, and yaw so fast before you black out. But yeah, Star Wars, being based on WWII footage, doesn't have realistic Newtonian physics in their flight. Which is a shame, but still awesome to watch. I still love the chase through the asteroid belt in Empire.

SERIOUSLY THO!!! X-Wing fuel can't melt ISD steel beams!! We want answers! The emperor faked his own death so that he could run off with his side chick and avoid some serious baby-mama-drama.... And they SAY that the death star was hit from inside... but why is there no CCTV footage of it happening? Coincidence? I think not!! Follow the money... follow the money... follow the money... I think that Leia set this whole thing up, just so that she could get away with doing a hostile take-over of the Purina dog-chow company! As evidence by the strange general guy with the purina dog chow logo on his jacket! He was a representative of the company, and her right hand man in the hostile takeover of the company!!! Then, using that money to leverage the rebellions surplus of stripper poles, and tiny thong panties in order to hide the fact that she let Jabba the SLUT put his weird worm penis inside her human VAHG!!! Meaning Kylo-Ren was ACTUALLY Jabba's kid, which Leia became pregnant with by LITERALLY RAPING JABBA THE HUT!!!! I mean, seriously... think about it... Jabba is rich as fuck, right? Clearly..he can have any woman in the galaxy that he wants! Not only that, but it's plain as hell to see that he's smoking out of that strange hookah bong looking device, and is stoned out of his mind! He clearly is in NO CONDITION to be consenting to sexual relations. Meaning that Leia took advantage of his intoxicated state, and became preggers with his child in order to sue him for child support. When it became evident that he wasn't going to pay it, and that Han, Like, Chewy, and Lando were all there seeing her in her slave bikini, getting all sexified on Jabba's wormy nuts, she killed his ass so that she could tell Han that the baby was his, thereby ensuring that he would keep her paid for the rest of her days. I think the evidence I have presented here speaks for itself, and is pretty obviously factual. If you wish to dispute it, then send all concerns and arguments to; Skywalker Ranch c/o George Lucas & The Purina Corporation LLC. The truth isn't always easy to hear, but wake up people!!! Sometimes, you just have to hit the emergency STOP button in an elevator you're in with George Lucas, so that you can keep him from running away...and you DEMAND ANSWERS!! That, my friends.... is THE WAY! :D ;)

Maybe a generation thing, but I even prefer the old special effects. Not so overloaded with useless gimmick. I remember the comment from red letter media that the opening scene of Star Wars- a new hope is so brilliant, there is no way George Lucas had anything to do with it. :-)

+Meiko Wunsch This is the kind of fan hate that really makes me wanna puke. And George Lucas as well, so it seams..
@meikow8 жыл бұрын
+fundhund62 That sounds very hurt, apologies for putting your stomach upside down. In general I think my fascination for Star Wars is really centered around the old stuff. I saw yesterday 'the force awakens' and they did many things better than in the prequels but it still not kicked me off the feet. There is no grudge against George Lucas, at least he invented Star Wars, but while he started as a promising director I do not think it's his key asset and the only thing I disliked was to change retroactively scenes from the old movies.
@fundhund628 жыл бұрын
+Meiko Wunsch Thanks, but no, I´m not hurt. I don´t even know Lucas personally, so why should I be hurt?? I simply don´t understand why people get so personal in their criticism. George Lucas was (and is) under no obligation to make movies the way certain people would like to. If you (or RedLetterMedia for that matter) have a different taste in dialogue, directing or acting, that´s fine. But why shit on the man so much?! You can hardly watch any footage from the prequels (let alone George Lucas interviews) without someone hating either on him or the films he made. Why do people take those films so personal? They would have liked the prequels to be different? That´s fine, but why don´t they just respect Lucas´ decision to tell the story the way he wanted? At the end of the day, they are just movies, and nobody has to like them.

@fundhund628 жыл бұрын
+InSanic Yes, of course. And not only the Battle of Endor, but the Battle of Yavin as well. They look absolutely fantastic! I made the above comment because nowadays it´s quite common to complain about the "terrible CGI" in Star Wars movies. This video gives a direct comparison, and it shows (at least in my mind) that there is hardly a good reason for this. The CGI holds up pretty well against the (admittedly awesome) practical effects. [Not to mention the fact that the newer movies have plenty of practical effects in them as well..]

Seeing these space battles makes me even more exited for Battlefront 3 coming this year along with Episode 7. I just want DICE and EA to take note from these space fights, make them the most realistic space battles in a Star Wars game. Have them be intense like the movies. And maybe they should do it like the PSP game Star Wars Battlefront Elite Squardron, where you're on the ground, you can take a ship and fly into space and vice versa. I can't wait for that game!! And if they want the space fights even more intense and realistic if they can, add a first person option to make it look like you're actually in the ship. That would be fantastic!!!

Vessels, that travel throughout the galaxy, even the new ships, are dirty, dingy. In space their armour have quite little chance to meet any particles, unless they want to destroy themselves. And if they would meet any, their shields would be able to prevent collisions. One more thing. A warp-faring civilization would be far more able to create durable painting techniques/armor plating, than we are. Sure looks more badass, but scarecly more realistic.
