Had a car with very bad mold problems tried bleach, and ozone treatments nothing worked, then used vinegar and water half and half killed the mold permanently__ it doesn't remove the mold stain but stops it growing__ a little bleach will get rid of the stain. A lot of suggestions to use bleach to kill the mould ( the correct way of spelling ) Asa rule, bleach doesnt kill mould, it inhibits the growth & slows it down unless you use industrial double strength chlorine bleach.- breathing in chlorine bleach is just as bad if not worse than mould. A much simpler & i suggest cheaper solution is to use isopropyl alcohol or 70-75% alcohol which if i remember correctly is in a green bottle labelled Greens isocol or sanitiser alcohol in the Philippines and is really quite cheap. Douse or soak the area and allow it to penetrate & evaporate..

@JC I know a bit about mold and what you are saying is not true at all and you like some of these other guys are not protective of Filipinos and give advice without responsibility. Alcohol does not usually kill mold it dries it and mostly does not kill it. There are still airborne deadly spores. If you guys were in the Philippines and your advice made her sick you could be prosecuted. I am American and my kids are dual citizens and I am never surprised how much people are careless about Filipinos. I have confronted many foreigners about how they treat them and reported sex tourists. Mold is spelled mold in English..

Everyone telling you how to get rid of the mold you have now, which most have told you how to do, but the important thing is to stop it in the first place. I would suggest you find where the leak is and if you can, block it, if not, put something under it to catch the leak. If it is from the drain, and you don't have a way to stop it, put a bowl or something below to stop the drips, or when using the sink, wrap a piece of cloth around the area leaking, and then when finished, dry the cloth. It may be harder if it is from the water coming in, but you could still use a cloth to absorb, and then swap out and dry. It is important to get rid of mold, but if you don't get rid of the source it will keep coming back.

Mold needs moisture so fix any leaks that might exist and scrub with a brush and soapy water then spray with a chlorine and water mixture . If you have one put a fan down there to dry it out. Good advice you are giving. You have a comfortable place but many westerners might have difficulty living in a house like yours because we have grown accustomed to more comforts. Soak the wood in bleach :) Just don't seal the thread on compression fittings or it'll still leak. Might be a seal/O-ring on the trap or the plug might need to come apart and be cleaned and silicone. Could get some 2nd hand bigger water containers with taps & run a cord up top to save room down stairs. Or a rechargeable battery light

Do that for one hour, repeat it a few days later again. After around 2 weeks of treatments depending on the resideu and small cracks. It may appear again half a year later but repeating the process should do it. Always use open windows and doors to let it air dry as fast as possible.

Hi! I just wanted to add to and clarify my comments below. The wipe should be soaked in either isopropyl alcohol, or another Black Mold killer. This way when you wipe, the spores hit the wet rag, and stick to it, a dry rag is no good, as it will allow the spores to become airborne. So if the rag is folded into quarters, you make a single pass with the wipe, fold the rag over to a clean side, and repeat. 1 wipe for each clean quarter of the rag. Also, wear gloves, a mask, and then dispose of the rags into a sealed plastic bag. Use of fans as stated below is also recommended. Hopefully, this helps some folks.

And this house is really cute, seems comfy (not counting the spot under the sink), plus what is shocking to me is that it appears to be totally quiet. I had a funny scare while I was staying there btw... I went to Paliton beach, and since my phone is "waterproof" I took it into the water with me. Then, the next day it started to develop a charging issue, and afterwards it simply stopped charging. I was so scared, since my phone was my only device with me, it had all my bookings, airplane tickets, etc., and I couldn't buy a wireless charging pad anywhere... 😄 Fortunately I managed to find a helpful tip on the internet (using my almost fully drained phone) about washing it out with non-salty water, and after repeating that multiple times it was finally back to life again.

The last one is treated with 100 mg of Doxycycline tablets for nine days.

Unfortunately bleach does very little for mold on organic surfaces like wood. Citrus products...if you can get them. You can also make your own by smashing lemons/oranges... anything highly acidic into a bit of water. Poor directly on the spot. It's unlikely that little spot is creating problems for you. But you can clean it with a rag and dish/laundry soap. Get the rag wet once, then use it to clean. If it gets dirty. Use a new cleaning rag. Then put them outside in the sun to dry for a couple of days. Then wash them as you normally would.

Hi Ruby, have just seen your channel for the 1st time. Re the mold, i see lots of advice & some wrong. Maybe the correct advice is there, but not sifting through 500 comments lol The most important thing is that there are 100's of molds, and some strains can actually kill or blind you. Plus it can effect you even after moving out. So the correct thing is to replace infected parts, and replace that part of the floor, but I doubt that the owner will go for it...but talk to her. If not fixed seriously get another place, even if more expensive. In the interim use vinegar on the mold, plus stop the source of the problem. It could be a seal, but something like toilet pan sealer might work - it's cheap and a kind of a wax that is flexible... Good luck, J
