By having a guy like Gyökeres upfront, he will get the team to draw them out deeper then have the backline launch through balls into the channels for the forwards/striker to run into space. You really need that Hojlund kid to be able to at least do it 2/3 as well as Viktor does, if he can do it, or someone else can that's how it happens. Sporting has a lot of matches that are like that, but as soon as they score the first it usually ends up being a massacre. Now, imho, Man Utd's current squad has nowhere near the same quality as Sporting's so idk if he can do it as well with them or if he can how long he needs.

I'm a Man Utd fan but i'm having a very difficult time picturing my team playing like this. Bruno is TERRIBLE at keeping possession, he's always trying too much to do everything on his own hence the ridiculous statistic of him turning over the ball. Garnacho surely does have the technical ability to play like this, but will he do that? He's too selfish, same with Rashford. Mainoo and Casemiro will be pivotal to the midfield for this kind of football to be played, Bruno will have to adapt otherwise i see the old legs of Eriksen will get the nod ahead of him. On the other hand Zirkzee and Martinez will excel, imo. Unselfish players who actually relish playing for the team. And I've always thought Hojlund will be better having a striker partner, he can hold up the ball so well and STRONG af.. This new system should be beneficial to him. Let's hope so.

This wont work if your players are selfish and has low IQ. Rashford always wants to score, Garnacho is similar but still young and can improve. Bruno keeps giving the ball away. They need to supply passes to Zriksee and Hojlund for this to work. Extra and timely passes are key.
