A little known fact is that Roblox moderators have a dartboard in their office. Whenever you report someone for breaking the rules, they close their eyes and throw a dart at the board. If it’s a bullseye, they ban the violating user. If it hits anywhere else, they do nothing. If it misses completely, you get banned instead. Or at least that’s what it feels like considering how slow and inefficient the moderation system is.

I can unfortunately say that from my experience, the report system does not work. There have been SEVERAL occasions where I have tried to report someone I had caught in the act, whether it was online sex or grooming. And every single time, i go back to check on the account to see that nothing has happened, nor have the moderators bothered to even take action. It’s really pathetic how low a big company can go just to make a profit.

I got a warning for cursing and there was no box that showed the offensive item at ALL. Just warning and cursing thats IT. I would like to know what I did wrong but it's terrible. For some reason roblox bans people for saying basic swear words like “fuck” and “shit” even though it was said that swearing (not slurs) were permitted in roblox vc. One time i said “fuck” a couple times on vc, and for some reason the roblox AI decided to disconnect me and ban me for a whole ass week. They made the assumption that I was saying “hate speech” or “slurs”. So I contacted the roblox support to try and get an idea of what’s going on. I asked them if they could actually look into it. Alas, they did fuck all. They refused to look into the problem and just told me that the AI flagged it as slurs and hate speech, which was not the case at all. I just find it stupid how the AI will leach onto people who say “fuck” and “shit” whereas they don’t do anything to pedophiles that are grooming kids and getting them addicted to porn. To me it just doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

Chat reporting is automated now, and it does not take context into consideration. I've gotten a warning for "spamming" because I was repeatedly using /e laugh which keep in mind, NO ONE CAN SEE IN CHAT. I've also gotten a 1 day ban for "bullying", talking to a friend in private chats before and jokingly calling them a "fat noob". I've tested this more and found out you can report anyone for using "fat" in a sentence and they will get a 1 day ban in minutes, no matter what the context of them using the word is. You will get banned for saying or doing the most innocent and normal things. I understand that as roblox gets bigger they cant have humans moderate millions of people at once so its automated now, but it is just a joke at this point.

honestly, nobody I reported got banned or warned, except the times when people spam, if a person spams the same message 3 times and report them, near instantly they get kicked and warned, but other than that I've always been on the receiving end of the ban hammer, due to me constantly forgetting that this games moderation is locked down, and also the moderation flat out sucks, your warning or ban "offensive items" Includes tagged messages, so if you said something that got tagged so NOBODY was negatively affected by it at all, you could still be banned for it. Also the amount of times I've gotten banned for saying things that are completely normal or light, like is really having a penthouse better than living in a country home offensive? and saying someone has a sticky screen is bullying? the way roblox is made, nobody wins.

What I'm really scared of is one of my 4 little siblings (below the age of 13) coming across one of those accounts or groups. I absolutely adore my siblings and playing Roblox as a family is an activity we do often, as an older brother I am supposed to keep them safe, but that is getting harder to do with so much jeopardizing content available on a children's platform. From my personal experience, the report system is too effective. It usually takes one report for someone to get banned within a span of 10 minutes, it's happened to me, my friends and people i've done it to. Also you could spam report someone for no reason and if their is enough reports there they get warned or banned. I honestly believe that most of their moderation is AI driven because i've been banned for saying "what"

yeah, the moderation system sucks, i said something as a joke (and it got tagged, mind you, and my account is 13+) and i managed to get a one day ban, over someone saying a slur NOT as a joke, BYPASSING the filter, etc. i told it to an moderator via email asking them why anything possibly offensive I said could be considered in a report when it was FULLY censored (you couldn't even decipher what was said without using some bypass) and they refused to answer. the moderation is ridiculous.

Yeah its 100% ai and it only looks at in game chats you can put almost anything in a bio (as seen in this video) but even saying small stuff in chats will get you instantly banned. A good way to see if its the auto mod is just by looking at how long the ban is. The auto mod only bans people for 1 day from what i have seen and bans you the second you say a bad message (or a specific string of messages) or somebody reports you.

I hope Ruben covers the new surge of "sus" games that are cropping up. For some god-forsaken reason I keep getting them in my "recommended for you" list, even though all I play are tower defense games. It's disgusting. The thumbnails for these games are usually furries or catgirls blushing and looking suggestive, but sometimes it's something horrendous, like a pregnant character inflated to 3x their size. Thankfully I usually see the games they put on my feed taken down within a day or 2, but they just keep coming. At this point, the only way Roblox will change is if it literally has something like a class action lawsuit against them. There are so many shady things that go on the platform that are unmoderated that you could genuinely build a case with it. A news outlet would drag attention, but I feel it wouldn't be enough since they'll probably go back to their ways a few months after. They need something more permanent. A multi-billion-dollar company will be fine losing a few thousand to a hundred thousand users but losing hundreds of millions of dollars from a suit is going to leave a dent.

Given the moderation’s current state, it seems like roblox took these complaints a little too far and are starting to ban accounts and delete items for no reason. It seems like EVERY report no matter it being false or not is now being looked at, but not in the good way you might think. The other day, three people (according to themselves that admitted to it) reported me falsely. The next day, I woke up to find my main acct banned for a week. When i looked at the offensive item, all it showed was “:)” and “lol” . Want to guess what the reason for being banned was? “Cheating / Exploiting”…. heres why this made no sense. 1. my account had never been banned before, and i’d never received a warning. 2. I AM ON MOBILE?? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO HACK?? 3. The evidence given was clearly not representative of the reason i was banned, like come on, writing “Lol” in chat is worse than what the girl in the intro to the video had on her profile? It seems now roblox has gotten rid of all actually human beings on their moderation system to save money from labor costs, and now only has bots which use primitive human language and have zero common sense. I find it kindof ironic that A MULTI BILLION DOLLAR VIDEO GAME COMPANY has to cut on real humans on a MODERATION SYSTEM FOR A GAME RATED 13+ (that means theirs minors in the game) which i honestly think is pretty important when dealing with online safety. In my experience they don't, at least not the way you intend them to be. Not only are they hillariously easy to abuse, they are also ineffective in scenarios where you want them to work, because they're 90% run by AI. It looks for keywords/keyimages/keysounds, and if it sees them it launches a banhammer, typically allowing you to mass-report someone who said something innocous (within context) and get them banned for it. Since nearly every person you'd actually want to report doesn't use any of the known keywords (or otherwise hides what their intentions are from any unthinking AI), a report won't do jack unless you spam them, in which case a human mod _might_ be called in to see what the ruckus is and *_might_* just ban the guy you're reporting.

Roblox moderation sucks. I was doing an event in a game and this other guy accused me of not contributing when they were the ones who managed to load in first and rushed to finish the objectives, while I tried to help, but couldn't do much since I joined late. So then this guy started verbally attacking me, calling me loser, calling me brain dead, saying he hopes I get run over by a car. I was trying to explain politely that I was trying to help, but he continued to verbally assault me. I've had enough so I literally said the same thing he said to me back to him, literally keeping it tamed because I could do much, much worse. Then his friend suggested reporting me and half an hour later, I found myself unable to jion a game because for the first time, I've been banned. Of course, I reported him as well and also asked my bf and some other friends to report him, I'm not sure if he was even banned since I can't trust Roblox moderation, banning someone who's defending themselves but doesn't even bother banning pedos or creators who make inappropriate content because they are making Roblox money.

ROBLOX reports mostly rely on AI detection and when reported the AI would literally take some time scavaging even chats that can be out of context that wasn't suppose to be bad at all at times and would still punish the player. The report system works surely but it's not perfect at all, on top of that, when appealing it's pretty impossible as most appeals get copy and pasted with the same message reviewing and going with the AI what it detected.

When I was playing Mic up on Roblox I got a warning for mic policy, I didn't think much of it as I dint break any rule and 30 minutes later I was terminated for Child endangerment and currently working on getting my account back I have some evidence for my claim and in that same server I was being called fatty and harassed.

This needs to be broadcasted on tv. Its a really huge problem roblox doesnt care about (they care about money nothing else). Its so good to see a person who got sued for 100+ crimes (fake ones) and over 1.6 millions dollars help the GAME become better for children who is not prepared for internet. one time i was playing on my oldest account (which isnt really my main account) because i wanted to play bloxburg as a new player. i got into some argument by accident with these two girls, i said they were being mean and they also said i was too (i wasnt on purpose at all and didnt realise i was) so i APOLOGISED and said i was autistic and i struggled to read and convey tone. they went on and didnt stop, they said stuff like "everybody is a little autistic" to which i replied "not really, if you think you have autistic traits you should get an assessment.." stuff like that, and then i was kciked from the game and banned for 1 day. there was pages of "offensive items" which was me just saying random sentences that were not mean at all. one of the items was literally me apologising and saying the word yes. it made me upset, because it was one of my oldest accounts. i know it was only for one day but it was unfair and those two girls ended up not being punished, i believe they must have mass reported everything i said

The system is very hit or miss. I had been banned myself in 2014 for telling someone to "go away plese" (I was young and struggled typing) due to them constantly chasing after me from game to game. No matter what Roblox game I went into, they'd join me a few minutes later. Yet now most of the reports are AI-driven and done by AI, with no human interaction to carry out the reports (My thoughts on it anyway). Unless it's very obvious they're breaking rules, 99% of the time they'll go scot-free with no punishment or ban. The number of kids that play Roblox is insane when you think about it, yet they cannot put in the effort to protect and look after these kids from this sort of stuff. Kids should just enjoy themselves safely with no exposure to sexual or harmful content. Yes, I know Roblox isn't just for kids, but at the end of the day, Roblox should still enforce the rules they set with appropriate action. AI: AI (artificial intelligence) is no replacement for human thoughts and actions (as of current); AI can struggle with determining spelling abbreviations and sorts like that, for example, BBC aka Big Black C*ck or British broadcast service. AI can take BBC and not know what the player is referring to, where as when we read it, we usually know what they're referring to... Roblox needs to put in more effort and take stronger action (even 1 ban a day if they're taking more action than they're currently) and help protect children and make it a better, healthier, safer environment for them to explore and enjoy.

If politicians hear about this, which they should, I wouldn't be surprised to see Roblox being banned in the US. This is horrendous, and Roblox has done nothing about it for so long. Roblox is most definitely aware of this issue.

Someone really needs to open a class action lawsuit against them, for blatantly not caring about children's safety. Edit : As I've also lost many old friends to roblox. Who have just been, abused, and sexually exploited. And tricked into joining suggestive fandom's like the Furry community, which is pretty well known to be 80% nsfw. And 20% borderline "sfw". Or just fettish content. Its genially SAD to see roblox not giving a shit about Child safety, I'm so glad I grew up with roblox before all of this, as I would've probably been exploited, just like all the other children. @@Triro I just went digging in Roblox's Terms and Conditions and found this: To notify Roblox, you must send written notice to Roblox Corporation, Legal Department, 970 Park Place, Suite 100, San Mateo, CA 94403 by certified U.S. Mail or by Federal Express (or international equivalent), providing: (a) the User’s full name, Roblox username, and any email or billing address associated with the User’s Roblox Account; (b) the name and contact information of the User’s counsel, if User is represented by counsel; (c) a brief description of the User’s Dispute and the resolution requested; and (d) the ticket or case number provided by Roblox Support to track previous attempts to resolve the Dispute, if there is one. They have the argument that we have to do this process for every account. Of course, they COULD delete the accounts, but as it was said before they probably dont delete the accounts because they generate revenue for them. This relates to class action lawsuits, but there are a couple arguments we could make to get around this whole process.

I have younger cousins who plays Roblox everyday, and this video worries me. The “recommended for you” section on the front page of Roblox has numerous 17+ “role-plays” or games that engage with inappropriate content. It’s insanely easy for children to play these sort of games even with age restrictions. I asked my baby cousins to show me their front page, and you can still see those “role play” games. I highly doubt Roblox will ever take restrictions seriously, this has been an issue for years now.

The disappointing thing for me is that you can get banned INSTANTLY if you say something as trivial as “fat”, not even calling someone fat. I did a test where I had an alt say fat and another alt say a bypassed word (in a private server) I reported them both, and only the one that said fat got banned.

I used to work as a Roblox as a content moderator over the summer (No longer am) to scrub a few bucks. I banned quite a few accounts like shown in the video, the thing is is that many moderators are not fit for the job. Not to sound racist but many employees are outsourced and don't understand the language people (Mostly Americans) use to bypass. Also many mods are boomers that also don't understand slang. Lots of moderators aren't even doing their job, it seems as of they will look for two seconds, read the first three letters of the desc and approve if they dont see anything blatant. Pay was based hourly, 27$ was my wage and was not terrible for a college kid. It does not matter really how much effort you put in, if Roblox sees that you are "working" you get pay. And for the report system, the reason most go unchecked is because it is so backed up and reading chatlogs can take while when a verbal harassment is reported. Roblox prioritizes only banning things that make them look bad so that is why there are rarely any competent mods browsing fetish groups. Keep up the good work.
