Closing your eyes to solve one pair then look at the cube is really helpful you actually just have to become experienced with it by practicing over and over even if you think your *Look* *Ahead* is good enough and it might be, you should still practice look ahead even if you average like 9 or 11 seconds on 3x3 it's still a good idea to practice your look ahead and refer back to this video when in need, In short watch any of the *JPERM* tutorials because it's really really helpful for anyone. I suck at cubing. 70-80s avg. With lookahead, I'm ~80-90s. I'm 40-50s for F2L so 1 tps, but I'm never stopping and I like that my transitions are smooth. It's just more satisfying. This is only with 30 minutes of practice. It's also really useful for seeing better cases. I'm often going "Oh, here's a faster case..." before I'm done the current pair. I've just learned keyholing. This takes 10s off my time for each keyhole. Not sure why I'm so much faster with keyholing. I still have to spot it and find the piece. I also just learned a cool trick where you can insert with M (rotate down) F (or F') M' if there's a corner oriented the right way and is one corner out of place in the bottom layer. Hard to explain. But 3 move insert instead of (for matching corner in bottom right and edge top center) R U R' U' L' U L is way faster. edit: I'm down to 35s for F2L with lookahead (only 1h in). I used to be 30s before. I think this is really helping me recognize pairs. Also, something else that happens is that I'm often bewildered at seeing pieces align when I'm inserting another pair and just transition immediately into inserting the new pair that just automagically aligned. This can have a chain effect because there are fewer places where the pieces can be and gets easier after each pair and my mind is tracking one or two other pieces even if I'm not making an effort to do so. IOW, I almost always know where the last two pieces are when I get to the last pair. Before this, I had to start from scratch on every pair. What I hate right now is when multiple pairs are in the correct slots but incorrectly oriented. Makes my scanning give a 404 error. lol. edit2: Holy crap! I just got 23s FTL. That's insane... for me at least. And just in a couple hours. I could have *never* gotten that before. This is awesome. We need a lookahead beginner noob method. lol
