The white insides with a white face are such a weird design decision. It means there are four pairs of pieces that could each be swapped and still have the same colors.

I think it's just three pieces that can be swapped since one edge piece which has blue and red (with remaining inside faces as white) is not there. So therefore, one of the corner pieces of white doesn't have it's equivalent piece like the others

1:20 I think I remember reading that Erno Rubik himself actually created the Rubik's Cube in attempt to make a 3d version of that sort of slidey number puzzle. Very interesting!

People that swapped the stickers are idiots anyway, because it can no longer be solved if you shuffle it again. Just use a wedge tool to remove all the individual pieces and rebuild it

Looks like an awesome puzzle, I feel like a magnetic version of it is needed, just the way you were continually holding the bottom piece up with your fingers when trying to cycle pieces around the top layer.

This 3D sliding is not a new thing though. There was a puzzle called Minus Cube (in the 80's I guess) way before than Rubik's Slide

I'd be even more devious with the color scheme. I'd make the inner sides have the same colors (and in the same ratio) as the outer sides but in such a way that it is never helpful due to parity issues. Only one position for each cube works.

Have you heard of the changing color cube. it is like a 3x3 but every tile has two colors depending on what angle you look at it. so if you solve it and look at it a different angle, it isnt solved.

Yes. It's right. There is a cube like that. It's called luminescent so it changes colors. It's not tech it's just a pigment in the plastic that depending on the perspective, it changes color

I have an Asterix & Obelix sliding puzzle from when my dad was young, it's from 1976. 😆 It's a bit worn. 😁 Watching this Rubiks slide was weirdly nostalgic.

I had a similar sliding puzzle to this, but it was 26 individual cubes that could all slide around inside a cage. Colored stars on the outer faces, blank on the internals. Was a lolt of fun until the cage split and it fell apart.

U can track white side by the top color and side color of a piece, since u just slide them, not rotate, so the color position of a piece stays

This is super funny. When I was kid I actually DIY puzzle like this from "6 sided toddler puzzle" toy (6 colours on cubes, I painted "internals") and I loved it as 4/5 yo kid. It is strange that autistic(diagnosed) kid toy was reinvented by Rubik. Also, I always considered it way easier than classic Rubik cube.
