Hi just found your channel by chance , much the same way we found the Bridge River valley. We’ve been exploring the gold bridge /Tyax area on m’cycles for 15 years and always find something new. Like yourself I passed the Horseshoe Bend and assumed it was mother nature’s doing but just a couple of years ago read that it’s actually an old hydraulic mining site that started in 1902. Between 1908 and 1914 , 31000 ounces of gold was extracted. Fair play to you taking those heavy bikes on the trails up there 👍

Awesome. That's alot of hydraulic activity!! A little google work and I found this bcgoldadventures.com/horseshoe-bend-bridge-river-gold/ In hindsight, that explains alot about the mounds seen in the bottom and some of the little drainage ponds there as well. Thanks for the info.

Just watched your video. I guess it only took me 5yrs to find it 👍🏻. Scenery is stunning and those dirt roads look fantastic. Hope to do a trip like that one day. Do you have any gpx files you would be able to share from this trip?

NO GPX files. I used maps mainly back in those days. I did have a little Etrex, but nothing fancy. I can recommend the BC Backroads map books. The Cariboo/Chilcotin Coast mapbbok should have this area in it. THnaks for riding along. Stay safe out there. ~GrizzLee

Great video! took my 2014 gsaw on 7k ride solo, cause i have no friends:) on the TAT (the first 3500miles) this last july. Had many a down and tons of rain, my hope was to get into BC but knew it was probably unrealistic coming from NY and needing to be back 2.5 weeks later. I got to the border (glacier NP) before I had to head back east and pull 3x 800 mile days. This video has solidified my resolve to get there next year! Gotta say, Looksha Lori, great job, your awesome!. GrizzLee same same, and thanks for sharing! Best!

It is best to get your hands on the Backroad Mapbook that covers the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains, also the Backroad Mapbook that covers the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast BC. these are fairly detailed showing the various forestry road and campsites in the area. Here are some options that can be done. Off of the road to Gold Bridge from Lillooet 1. the road that follows Marshall Creek, you can do a loop that takes you past Tyax Lodge on Tyaughton Lake, this takes you back to the road to Gold Bridge. 2. From the junction of the road along Marshall Creek and the road from Tyaughton Lake you can go north on Relay Creek towards Dash Hill. This is an in and out trip though you might be able to work your way on old roads into the south Chicotin. You will pass through grassland sections and aspen groves and are in the southern most part of the Gang Ranch. 3. From the junction above you can work you way over to the Yalakom River and end up back on the road to Gold Bridge from Lillooet. 4. Near the start of the Hurley River Road you can take the Bridge River Forestry Road, this is an in/out trip. 5. There is a road that goes around Gun Lake. 6. From the Terzaghi Dam, which forms Carpenter Lake, you can drive through a tunnel and the road will take you up and over Mission Ridge and then down to Shalath and Seaton Portage. You will see the power house, which is impressive. The road then continues towards Pemberton, it is often called the Hi-LIne Road as it was put in for the transmission line from the power house. 7 From Lillooet you can go north on a dirt/gravel road that follows the Fraser River. You can take a free reaction ferry at Big Bar to get yourself across the river. The ferry doesn't operate during times of high river levels because of debris in the water Good luck exploring there is lots to do in the area
