Tretinoin or retin a or in fact all retinols can have a drying effect on the skin especially during dry winters. I recently damaged the skin barrier due to a reaction to a serum. The damage is little and around the nose and mouth area which any way needs to be avoided when using retinoids.

I’m so glad I found your channel :) I’ve been using tretinoin for about 2 years but still get frequent breakouts, and with the winter time my skin is very sensitive! I’m having small white heads on my cheeks and chin 💔 maybe I’ll stop using the retin a until my barrier is better ?

Thank you Haley and welcome. one of the main reasons for skin sensitivity in winters is the lack of hydration so stepping up on that might help. Typically with long term retinoid use, given that it improves exfoliation function, white heads are rare. But every skin is different! So perhaps spacing tret to twice/once a week and exfoliation (gentle exfoliating serums) to twice a week might help. hope this helps.

it’s been 2 weeks since I staRted using tretinoin. My dermatologist advised me to apply it for 15 mins and wash it off followed by a moisturiser. I suffering for small bumps on cheeks area and also it has some whiteheads. Also I am using tretinoin only in affected areas and using it alternate days. Can I cleanup my face once a week followed by steaming and whitehead extractor?

Hi Rubina Mam, I have started following your vids for last 3 months. Just wanna say you are the Indian skinfluencer I like and ❤. Right now am in UK and decided to start on tret in this UK winter(got many tubes of tret from India 😂). I have been using cerave retinol prior to this for last 6 months. It’s been 3 weeks of tret and I am going really slow.. twice a week. So far not so much peeling or dryness. Even with so many room heaters 😂 and cold freezing weather outside. Perhaps the trick is I have been using Cosrx and few other hydrating toners and good ceremide based moisturisers. Your videos have helped me a lot. I have started using alpha arbutin, niacinamide in the morning. My skin is taking it well apart from breakouts or purging.. though the frequency of breakouts have come down). Have learned a lot from u.❤❤❤❤🥰 thank you. Edited: I have used cerave retinol around my eyes.. still using.. and on neck as well.. as a beginner.. it didn’t irretate my skin at all. I would like to try beauty of json retinal eye cream.. good option in India as well. Would like to followed more on your oiling advice.

applying what after cleaning? tret? i also do that in summers. in winters i prefer using a serum as my skin is drier than usual. you can use any serum that does not have other faders, jst to go easy on the skin.

Since then, I use it on irregular basis for acne breakouts as and when they come up. This year I have not consulted any derma but I am undergoing homeopathic treatment for hormones and that doc advised to use topical retinol serums in addition to her prescribed homeopathic medicine.

Love this series 💕 Much needed. I live in Hyderabad, we don’t even have extreme winters like in the north but my skin feels tight already. I have a few doubts: Do you wash off the oil in your AM routine with a cleanser or with just water before using actives, moisture,etc? To get rid of the tightness what’s better, using oils or hyaluronic acid? I have some stubborn pigmentation only at the jaw line, which oil would you recommend for it? Also, sun damage is real. I can see it now. I am very new to skin care, in fact I just started a few months ago after coming across your VIT C videos. Since then I’ve started with detoxie and now I’m using formula rx 10%, both of them suit my skin. I stopped using vit c for a few weeks because of a busy schedule and I could see the difference . I believe in sunscreen supremacy 🙌🏼, earth rhythm spf 50 is my current obsession.

It is going to take time, at least 6 to 8 months. if its feeling too stretchy reduce the usage -qty and freq and see if it helps. But do also consult your derm for this.
