Bipul Sinha makes a very good point. Preventing cyber-attacks is ideal, but building resilience into the system on top of that is even better. As more and more of our lives and the workings of our society in general become digitized, the impact of these cyber-attacks will also grow. Unfortunately, criminals are keenly aware of this and are all too willing to exploit it, especially when it comes to businesses. As for fighting the possible conflagration arising from bad actors using the growing capabilities of AI to breach information systems, the solution would seem to be AI itself. My only concern with this is that it may speed adoption of AI tools that even their developers would admit aren't quite ready. Fortunately, in many such cases, throwing resources at the problem often helps speed development; and currently there is no shortage of enthusiasm (or funding) for artificial intelligence.
