Yeah, you need the power, but if you run out of rpm you're going to go slower. Can't see that being a problem in this case, though, if it's already turning more'n 8k5 on the hubs. 30" tyre with 10% slip and 3.60 gears is good for 190-ish mph, at 8k5. 28"might be a bit tight, though, as that'd be a little over 175mph. Great for the 1/8th, but the 1/4?

Last I was aware, talking about "Top End" is all about RPM to trap a speed that your going to need to get that time when you cross the line... And your "HP" is all about getting you there (accelerating you to that point) ... So gearing down might not be be a great thing to do just now...

@Lassi Kinnunen : The car was a POS. It was completely neglected and ignored. When it drove in, the owner had to stop with E-brake. The steering was possessed by demons. U-joints junk for YEARS. Every liquid was puking on our floor, and exhaust leaks front to back. He wanted brake inspection and horn fixed 😂. Anyway, the guy was super nice, he loved the car, and approved a list of recommendations. His Harley kept him mobile while car in shop... and we did fix the HORN. (Edit: body & paint not too bad)

The front is strapped down so any reading you get would be fucked up by that restriction

They have to strap the front end down on a hub dyno because the car will legitimately pull the front wheels off the ground if it’s making any real power

foul bastard I’m not sure the front would be strapped down or any of the car for that matter, the axles are connected to the dyno, there would be no other need to strap it down, it can’t drive off if something goes bad, it has no rear wheels. If it was over 2000 wheel horsepower then you might start getting to the point you’ll need to weigh/strap the front down, depends on how much the front of the car weighs and how long it is. I’ve seen an XY Falcon drag car put down roughly 3000 horsepower at the hubs and it wasn’t strapped down, although they admitted any more and it would need to be held down...
