RWBY volume 9 chapter 7 is tearing my favorite character apart. I'm still trusting Jaune but Ruby needs this time alone.

I loved Ruby's breakdown moment, she needed that. Both her and Jaune. But I wished her teammates would've paid more attention, they were kind of oblivious. And everytime Ruby was about to speak up, she was interrupted. I can't wait for next Saturday

😔😔 It’s honestly been building up since the end of V3. Your right Blake and Yang have been focused on each other since team RWBY reunited I doubt yang has had much time to give her a big sister talk. And now Ruby’s isolated and alone 😔 I have a feeling that next episode is going to be a big one

Exactly, but also add the fact that Ruby has always been hiding her emotion since the Fall of Beacon. But yea, whenever she could’ve gotten help, she was interrupted especially at the end where Yang was going to ask Ruby if something was wrong, but they all shift to comfort Jaune after the town flood. Which seems to be the last chance.

I adore ruby's breakdown. I am extremely interested in mental illness research and seeing ruby have a "crying out for help" moment had me cheering at my screen. Seeing her finally breakdown and almost beg for help was so satisfying and I cannot wait to see how it develops in the next episode.

Ruby had enough it hurts my heart, she also my favourite character & best girl in RWBY, same goes to Jaune as my favourite male character in RWBY, I mean we all knew she's gonna snap one way or another, but I thought it was gonna happen in ep.8 but I wasn't ready for it to happen in this episode. Hell some of CRWBY say ep.7 is they're favorite & I can see why lol. But I feel like, the next episode is gonna be forcus on Neo cuz it has to be. Lindsay & Miles didn't hold back of the intense emotion both what Jaune & Ruby are going through of their grief & guilt is just holy hell man.

What also hurts is how similar Ruby shouted at Weiss like how Weiss complain to Ruby back in Volume 1 about Ruby shouldn’t be a leader and that Ozpin made a mistake. Heck, although Weiss is now relying on her team for comfort, I feel like Ruby is the one she is relying on the most. And finding out how far Ruby has fallen could put a toll on Weiss.

For me the real kicker that makes this sting is Jaune & Ruby? *They're genuinely good friends* to each other. They've had each other's backs through thick and thin, they've been each other's confidant when they felt lost... and now they've both been so beaten down and broken that when they snap, they lash out at each other and hurt each other in the way that only people who know each other deeply can. I have trust that this will resolve satisfyingly, and Ruby has needed to hit this breaking point so they can grow since, well, V3 really. But for now? It hurts, man. It hurts real bad, and that's what makes it so good.

....It all goes back to their conversation in volume 1. "We have to put our teammates first and ourselves second." Ruby took it to heart and its been daunting on her ever since. Poor Jaune has been alone for maybe 10+ years. That can really take a toll on someone mentally especially when you repeat the same tasks over and over.

You did great!! Both Jaune and Ruby have been struggling with the burden of leadership since beacon. Especially after the events of volume 3. But Jaune definitely has a lot to let off seeing as he’s been alone for years in the Ever Ever and he’s been driving himself crazy. Poor Ruby who’s all alone now I feel so bad for my poor Rose.

Just like in real life, bottling things up, not seeking help and comfort from your close ones, only makes the eventually inevitable breakdown way worse. Those two didn't just snap about their frustrations, they also went out of their way to hurt each other, again, just like how it tends to happen in real life. Sad stuff, but it had to happen

The thing is that she is the leader and isn’t allow to be a failure since it’s not about her anymore. She has to put her teammate first and herself second… That is what she told Jaune in Volume 1… and that very saying is eating away at her. Edit/Quote: “You’re a leader now, Jaune. You’re not allow to be a failure. Because it’s not just about you anymore. You’ve got a team now, Jaune. We both do! And if we fail, then we’ll just be bringing them down with us. We have to put our teammates first, and ourselves second. Your team deserves a great leader, Jaune. And I think that can be you.” And now Ruby is far pass her breaking point and Jaune hasn’t been with his teammate in years… The two Beacon Academy students that Ozpin intentionally let in despite isn’t suppose to be there are falling.

Yea rewatching this episode, their words really do cut deep. They were in the heat of the moment and had so much bottled up, especially Jaune. Considering he's been here for 10 years +. He's probably been getting inside of his own head for years about the Fall of Atlas and Beacon

I love this episode but I wish some people would stop picking sides! Everyone is hurting 😭 I saw someone mention the reason why weiss and blake backed away was probably because it reminded them of their trauma. (Weiss with her dad, Blake with Adam) AND the reason why Blake was trying to be optimistic because in volume 8, Blake told Ruby how much she looked up to her, and that's why she was trying to be positive because it's something ruby would normally do. 💔

Blake also sees Ruby as the embodiment of purity. Both of those points make me believe that Blake blinded herself with her idolized version of her leader, which by now Ruby believes she's anything but. When Blake tried to be the optimist like the old Ruby (the same Ruby that the herbalist showed), it triggered the girl.

Both Ruby and Jaune were right in their own ways. Ruby has shouldered so much burdens but no one seems to care or notice. And the way Ruby snapped at Yang and Blake was perfect. She's full on depressed and clearly showing signs of PTSD, but they decided NOW is the time to express their love? Dick move. And i love how Jaune fired right back with no hesitation, telling Ruby exactly what she needed to hear. The one thing he left out is not telling Ruby that he stabbed Penny. Oh boy, Ruby will lose it and im all for it!!

My God, Rooster teeth pretty much pulled a Batman Under the Redhood Scenario with Ruby and Jaune. They’re fight reminds me of the argument that Bruce had with Jason, when he was resurrected by the League only to start being an Anti-Hero just to find and Kill Joker for what he put him through with that one brutal crowbar scene we all remember.

@@miln25 ok this might be a little long so bear with me. I’ll try to condense it as much as possible. I think within the next three episodes, we might get a fake out death or sacrifice of Ruby (not sure after with what happened at the end of episode 7) with everyone thinking she is gone forever…however that’s not the case. Due to the blacksmith/tree showing mercy to Ruby by remaking her via ascension or a scheme of Alyx who’s trying to still escape the Everafter by switching with Ruby, Ruby is transformed into Alyx and has to make her way back to the tree and everyone by herself. By the end, she refinds items that remind her of who she is or helps restore her memories like her mothers promise and crescent rose/mothers weapon before she restores herself back to Ruby rose, confronts and settles with Neo or Alyx in a final battle/confrontation before finally escaping the Everafter reuniting with her team and Jaune.

I loved Ruby's moment, but lowkey Jayne pissed me off. He didn't really deserve that moment imo. He's gotten really good at blaming everyone else for bad stuff happening. First Oscar, now Ruby. She already feels remorse for her poor leadership and actions - no need to beat a dead horse, Jaune. How about express that anger to the rest of team, who are taking everything lightly by being comedy relief and romance fodder?? The terrible teammates who don't take anything seriously and don't take responsibility for thier terrible actions??? Ruby just needs to go solo at this point tbh. I think Ruby will go solo at least for the next episode just so that she can have some time to think and be alone. The Tree might sense this and take advantage tho. On Jaune, he is quick to act on his emotions that's for sure. But he's been alone for basically 10+ years. Doing the same tasks that he sets up for himself so that he can be his own hero. The cat is probably right when it said Jaune was going a bit crazy. I think his outburst is a combination of him being isolated for so long, the guilt of killing penny, and him wanting to be this hero. As for the rest of WBY, this will probably be a reality check, mainly for Yang. As she's still Ruby's older sister.

I 100% agree. Jaune blamed Ruby for the failure of her plan but it’s not like he did anything to help either. Ruby made that plan as a last ditch effort when everyone’s hope was about to be destroyed. Jaune and everyone else didn’t come up with anything so Ruby had to. If anything it’s everybody’s fault for not trying to come up with something better. They all thought that this plan would work out but now that it hasn’t it’s easiest to blame Ruby rather than themselves. And also Jaune wouldn’t know this but from a viewer’s POV Ruby’s plan would of worked out had Jaune been stronger and actually successfully defended the relic from Neo. So in a way Jaune actually does play a huge part into why the plan failed yet ironically, he’s blaming only Ruby. And yeah Ruby’s team right now is absolutely trash. Weiss has been nothing but annoying since the beginning of the volume, getting irritated at anything that happens and Yang and Blake being all cutesy while everyone is literally on the verge of death. There’s a time and a place and this is NOT it. Also when Yang moved in front of Blake to protect her from Ruby PISSED me off. Bitch she’s your sister yet your siding with your lover over her? She’s literally losing her mind in her depression and instead of trying to help her your going to antagonize her? Honestly I hope Ruby gets a vigilante arc and kill/ brutally hurt some people. It’s been a long time coming but Ruby needs to let some anger out and I hope she does it like a badass.
