Drawing extensively from the Warren Report, this docudrama characterizes the two most significant personalities involved in the Kennedy assassination. Lee Harvey Oswald (Frederic Forrest) is presented as a troubled loner with a speckled past looking to merely acquire fame for killing the president. Jack Ruby (Michael Lerner), on the other hand, is shown to be rather warm-hearted and patriotic, his killing of Oswald being motivated exclusively by his inordinate affection for the president.
First aired on February 8, 1978. For education, entertainment, enlightenment and inspiration. We hope you enjoy!

What information?.. There’s zero evidence of a conspiracy, to this very day.. Oswald definitely murdered a cop, which is enough for me.. And Ruby’s actions that morning are locked down.. If there was a second shooter, to make sure the job was done, it still was coordinated by Russia as get back for the insult of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Oswald trained in Russia and just before the day of the assassination Oswald visited the Russian consulate in Mexico to get his game plan. I believe Ruby was a Russian agent in the US whose job was to take out Oswald so he could not divulge the truth of Russian involvement.

@@andywinger4197 LHO did not kill Kennedy, Acustic forensics, the EM dr. that worked on him and witnesses have made it very clear the shot to the head came from the front. Tippit was shot with two different guns, one being and auto. Oswald had to get on a bus after walking 5 blocks sit in traffic for who knows how long then another couple blocks get in a cab ride to his home get another gun and then kill Tippit within 28min. Man there is so much info that has came to light about this it is impossible to believe Oswald did anything. He never defected as stated. He did to to russia sent there by the CIA and brought back by them. The gun they walked out of the Book depository had sling mounted on the side of the gun. Not underneath as Oswalds gun had. Not true, that agent wasn't assigned to be there & when he throws his hands up in a gesture he said "I may as well go to lunch then" Kennedy also made it clear he didn't want security on the back foot holds. My theory is yes there was an attempted on jfk from behind, the first shot ment as a head shot missed ricocheted off of the top edge of the windshield striking Mr. Kennedy in the throat (all be it a lucky shot for lack of better word) but not the kill shot, Not the kill shot by no means! Now here's where it gets sticky Everyone knows the Kennedys where indeed having marital problems & That Marilyn Monroe was the side chick of the marital problems. Also everyone knows the jfk files at that time had been sealed for 50years THE STICKY THEORY IS THIS Yes there was an assassination of jfk or was it a hitman? Or perhaps an internal operation? Herhaps all of this was taking place at the same time! "nightmare on elm Street" I've seen the film everyone has seen On that fateful day filmed in 1963 Where the president was shot. I saw in the film jfk was first struck in the throat evidenced by him grabbing his throat with both hands, you can also see in the film Jackie Kennedy move in twords jfk in what appears to be curiosity then the kill shot happens, oddly there was two shots one small entrance wound from the front in the throat then an enormous exit wound to the back of the head with what was reported brain mater scattered on the trunk of the car. I believe that when the first shot failed to enter the back of the head Jackie Kennedy stuffed a fire arm in JFK's entry wound & initiated the kill shot passed the fire arm to the secret service agent as she was sliding over the trunk that was in charge of her safety who was the gentleman that jumped on the back of the car in the film. In short Jackie Kennedy delivered the kill shot & the government covered this whole bag of shit up & locked it away for more than 50 years......

Alan Lerner plays the Chicagoan Jack Ruby with a thick New York accent. Many of the hairstyles on the men are pure mid-1970s, and early panoramic shots of Dallas' downtown show tall buildings of the steel and glass style that did not exist in 1963. Oswald's child shown playing in her yard alone in early scenes looks four years old, yet his oldest child was born in early 1962, making her not yet 2 years old in November 1963. IOW, a lot of corners were cut on accuracy in this film.

The events around Oswald being sited by the store owner then ducking into the movie theater also are shown incorrectly. The woman staffing the theater window had stepped away as Oswald entered. Johnny, the store owner had telephoned the police while Oswald was looking into his store's bay window, but not at the merchandise. He suspected Oswald was the man reported to have shot the officer nearby and was trying not to be seen by police cars rushing by.

Even the stuff with reporter Ike Pappas (who has made it clear that he thought Ruby was a weirdo) and his dogs in this thing are basically accurate (while he was shooting Oswald, he left his favorite dog, which he called his "wife", in the car). The bottom line is, you get out and interview the actual witnesses, not just sit there in your armchair spinning fine theories in your imagination. That's all. Real police work. Just the facts, ma'am.

@julianciahaconsulting8663 Жыл бұрын
@@danielgregg2530 How do you think we know of Ruby's involvement with organized crime in the first place? Just by sitting back in armchairs and making wild assumptions? No there have been many investigators who did the real "police work" that the corrupt Dallas police should have done but did not do. These investigators went out and interviewed Ruby's childhood friends, his various business associates, the bartenders, the waitresses, the strippers , and the regulars who worked in or went to his clubs, his landlords, his neighbors, members of organized crime in Chicago, in Vegas, in Florida and in Dallas. Friends who saw him meet big organized crime figures for dinner. People who were involved with his gun running operations to Cuba to try to overthrow Castro - a major area of "business" for the mob at the time. Numerous employees of his club who even saw him even hanging out with Oswald in his club. But let me get this straight are you really suggesting that RUby had no links to organized crime and that he killed Oswald because he was shameful that Kennedy had been killed in Dallas and wanted to save Jackie Kennedy from having to return to Dallas for a Oswald trial??
@danielgregg2530
@danielgregg2530 Жыл бұрын
@@julianciahaconsulting8663 I think Ruby was a titty bar owner and there is always the prospect that he could have been involved with prostitution and drugs and gambling and selling hooch or even cigarettes without collecting taxes and any other number of sins, iniquities, and crimes. "Organized crime" as you so grandiloquently put it is well known to take an interest in all these kinds of things, but that does not make him a mafia *hit man*. If the mafia wants to hit somebody, they will hire the real thing. Moreover, there is nothing else remotely logical about Ruby's behavior in connection with the murder of Oswald. I don't want to be typing all morning but it amazes me that gals like you never notice that this shooting was not only unplanned but unplannable. Even at the police station nobody knew when Oswald was going to be transported from the station because they were running behind schedule and after missing the originally scheduled time they were running way late and playing it by ear. Moreover, even if Ruby had notice from some source of the originally scheduled time, HE WAS NOT THERE AT THAT TIME. HE WOULD HAVE MISSED OSWALD ALTOGETHER. He was still at home in bed, where he was reached by phone by one of the girls that worked at his club less than an hour before the shooting. Not only that, but running way late for such an important mission, he would not have then paused on his way to intercept Oswald way late to wire 25 bucks to that impecunious stranded stripper from Western Union, and he would not have bothered to bring his dog (which got left in his car) with him! And even if you could somehow explain all these these implausibilities, there was never any guarantee he could have gotten near Oswald, as indeed a police officer had been stationed at the head of the driveway he entered by just to keep people like him OUT, and only a failure by that officer to do his job let him get in. What the hell would he be expected to rely on -- a Jedi mind trick? Frankly, if this was an operation of the mafia it is hard to see how they ever could have survived their first two weeks in America. Ruby would have been the Maxwell Smart or Inspector Clouseau of hit men: a guy who attains his goal by pure accident. Lastly, you conveniently overlook all the real evidence of his motive, provided by his sister, his temporary roommate, his advertising vendor at the Dallas Morning News, a former girlfriend, and even once well-known national journalist Ike Pappas, etc., that he wasn't wrapped to tight to start with, and THEN he became unhinged about the assassination. (Pappas, a voluble cynical New Yorker, stated volubly later after dealing with him only twice before the killing that he was a real weirdo that left him too uncomfortable even to eat a sandwich Ruby offered him.) I could go on, but whatever some divine being might have put me on Earth for I don't think it is to waste any more time than necessary arguing with people whose academic records are no doubt festooned with innumerable marks below "B", or those with paranoid personality types. As a thinker you leave too much to be desired to evaluate any further here. Let us just say that when the law professor antagonist in THE PAPER CHASE regaled his incoming new class with his metaphor of "a skull full of mush", he was referring to newly entering students who at least were smart enough to get accepted to Harvard Law School, which surely, you have not done. Now go away and stop bloviating at me before I taunt you a second time.

There were Americans who cheered when he died, but most were just shocked that he’d been murdered. They felt deep sympathy for Jackie, who had just lost their son Patrick 2 months earlier. This was her first trip with JFK since their son had died. When you look at what she went thru in the second half of 1963, it’s amazing she kept her sanity. No wonder she married Onassis and left America.

I remember no Republicans cheering. Oswald was a far-left zealot. Turns out he was CIA. Simplifying this to Republicans bad, Dems good, is why our country is so screwed up today.

My very Republican grandmother was with me as the new was reported. I was five. All partisanship disappeared. She had lived through Pearl Harbor, and the stock market crash. This was my first shocking world event. She calmed me by repeatedly saying, “It’s all right. We’ll have Johnson.” Decades later, I realized she was calming herself as well.

Hmm. Democrats loved JFK, huh? Watch it with generalizations. LBJ was a Democrat, and he absolutely despised JFK and his brother Robert. LBJ hated JFK enough to have JFK killed to save his own skin. By 9 /22/63, LBJ was about to get criminally indicted for his extensive corruption-filled career as the most powerful politician from Texas. He and his buddy, FBI Director Hoover, made quite a formidable corrupt political team.

Frederic Forrest played Oswald. He's a fine character actor, often playing misfits and unfortunates. He starred in a TV movie called "Larry" about a semi-fictional character who was falsely diagnosed as mentally handicapped as an infant and grew up in an institution.

It shows ya' they had a minimal budget in making this one. At least the Actors look very similar in appearance tho, at least IMO. A fair portrayal of what is ostensibly the warren commission narrative, with a very good performance from Ruby actor Michael Lerner. As a conspiratorial enquirer, I would guess the producers may have known that the ensuing HSCA conclusion was going to emphasise Ruby's Mob connections, so (conspiratorially-speaking) ML certainly did his job to stress more emotional/neurotic motivations. Fred Forrest was the patsy-actor in this Unstable-Ruby promotion. Good to see Less Nessman asking the hard questions, & his WKRP chief promoting Ruby's spinning exercise platform. Interesting to hear there were 2 Tippets in the Dallas police force. Michael Lerner passed away 8 weeks ago today. God Bless America 🕊🦅🕊.

Though it's never been confirmed, the boy in the white shirt at 30:03 in actual archived film outside Parkland Hospital may have been Marvin Lee Aday, who grew up to become the performer Meat Loaf. I saw this on tv when I was about 8 or 9...in the kate 70s... I also remember a lot of news about hearings that determined their was a conspiracy involved in the JFK assassination. And I also saw some news interview clips of Jim Garrison on local news. I grew up just outside of Dallas...and remember lots of opinions being discussed about the assassination. Most of my family were ardently anti-Kennedy. So he was not considered a great loss. Anyway.... I remember watching this, even as child... thinking I was being hit with propaganda. I had a noticeable sense of irritation watching it... but also fascination. I've pretty much studied the topic since then. One of the best books I've read, thats seems to make the most headway towards truth, is the Skorzeny Papers.

Women who had worked at Ruby's club (aka strippers) and swarms of others who claimed there was a Ruby/Oswald relation, were long ago outed as opportunistic attention seekers. The tall tales they told were without merit, full of contradictions, and could not be used as evidence of any kind.

Parade route was never changed and was accurately described in several Dallas newspapers long before Nov. 22. That was also the standard parade route through Dallas, and a concrete divider in Dealey Plaza prevents you from drifting between lanes to get to the onramp for the Stemmons Freeway to get to the Trade Mart.

Oswald didn't have a Texas accent. He was born in New Orleans and spent his childhood in New Orleans, Dallas, and New York. Then he joined the marines and went to Japan. After that he went to Russia. For the most part he spoke non-regionally although at times you could detect a New Orleans accent.

The JFK assassination is becoming a matter of lore and legend, almost a religious-like narrative. In another 200 or 300 years I can see little miniature rifles being worn around the necks of young people, and paintings on people's living room walls of "The Last Breakfast" featuring John and and Jackie Kennedy at the Hotel Texas in Fort Worth
