About hearing Nanahoshi's name before, in the light novels he ate a dish he rather liked called (something) Nanahoshi Style at a Millis restaurant. Another thing, in the novels and manga for the event, Orsted was rather positive and chummy talking to them until Rudy mentioned Hitogami.He is pretty nice guy.

It's clear they wanted to build the tension instead, it works better cinematically, but narratively its better he wasn't threatening at first to build his character. You can quickly switch the mood in a LN or manga from one panel to the next or one sentence to the next, but you can't do that in animation, so they probably opted for the more tense theatrical approach.

Its a 5x multiplier while using the staff. Either it costs 5 times less mana or he can cast a 5 times larger spell, however it's affinity is water magic, so the strength of the rock bullets would t be buffed to the same extent.

@@Ozone946 Massive Spoiler: Orsted is stuck in a time loop where he has been living the past 200 years over and over, and the only way out is to kill the Man-God. That's the reason he knows everyone in this world, since he literally have all the time in the world to know each one of them and how they lived their lives. Now the reason why the ending credits is not in Orsted perspective, is because of Rudy and Nanahoshi's existence. Both Rudy and Nanahoshi are from another world, and this timeline is the first timeline they existed in this world. The mana calamity is the consequences of Nanahoshi getting transported into this world. That means, in previous timelines, the mana calamity did not happen. Rujierd would have not met Eris. Sylphy would have not met Ariel and Luke. Roxy would have not met Paul's party. Paul would have not created the Fittoan search party etc. In conclusion, the ending credit does not exist in Orsted's memories, and it is not taken from his perspective. The credit is probably a symbolism on how Rudeus see himself as an outsider living a dream life, and his fear of suddenly waking up and finding himself back on his old life where no one cares about him.

Just got through reading a spin off series of Mushoku Tensei called "Old Dragon's Tale" that sheds new light on certain aspects of this part of the main story. I'm impressed by the level of world building the author has put into his work, and how well it all fits nicely together. FYI, don't look up Old Dragon's Tale unless you're already familiar with the entirety of the main Mushoku Tensei storyline. It's chock full of end story spoilers and core world lore that would ruin the story if you read it too soon. It's well worth saving as a reward once you finish the story, though.

The reason he switched to fire magic was because of how supplying mana to the spell changed its properties. With Stone Cannon, applying more mana would only increase the density of the projectile where as fire would directly increase its destructive potential. He'd also be able to focus on the raw speed of the fireball instead of speed+rotation for the stone bullet.

Well the other thing worth mention is that even if Orsted defeated Rudeus his display of insanely powerful magic (and the fact that he was capable of doing something that even Rjeard couldn't which was to hurt Orsted even if it was a little), make Eris feel like she was not worthy of Rudeus, that she wasn't at his level and wouldn't be able to fight along side him as she was at that moment, being this the reason that makes her leave Rudeos behind to find her own path and power, but only with the intention to comeback to Rudeus being the best possible version of herself.

Eh I’m not so sure left out is the right world but at least in the wn the author explains just how injured and in pain eris actually is and yet the only thing she can focus on his rudeus. Likewise as he’s dying rudeus sees her and tries to cast healing magic on her so she could escape. It’s just a single paragraph that I don’t know if it made it into the ln but it goes a long way for a lot of things.

About Nanahoshi, Rudeus thought he heard her name somewhere. I just had the biggest realization, what if it is the Girl he tried to save from the truck? Maybe she got reincarnated too. It would make sense because in the novel it said he could only save one boy so she probably died there too. Other than her I can't think of anyone else Rudeus could have heard of before and he got healed after she said something to Orsted according to Eris, so maybe that's got something to do with this as well.

This scene was referenced again when (SPOILERS) The demon king showed up at the academy (the husband of the purple loli demon girl). Rudeus was able to scratch the hand of orstead and it was incredibly impressive to the demon king so he asked rudeus to hit him with the same attack. Said attack obliterated the guy iirc, but since he could regather his body, he healed back almost immediately. It was an interesting call back that showed how terrifying orstead was compared to powerful characters

I must say, the Orsted fight was the first scene in Mushoku Tensei which made me shout out loud to the screen at how many things bothered me about this whole situation. Not that I disliked the show too much afterwards, but your explanation was quite vital for me to accept much of what happened, so thank you very much for this. (I shouted things like "Why would you keep TALKING to the guy!? He is obviously BAD NEWS!" and "Stop fighting back! He might just have left you alive if you could just SHUT UP!", as you probably could imagine)

It takes at least king class magic to scratch orstead. Rudy abilty to silent cast allows him to cast advanced level spells with king class even imperial class levels of magic. Even his stone cannon hit with king class level power.

Alas, they don't even show it in the anime. A bone of contention i noticed in MAL among anime-onlys during the quarrel between Rudeus and Paul was that their own perception of time was warped thinking that the traverse between one end of the Demon Continent to another & then traveling through the Great Forest only took a few months. Without a map to guide them, it only enforced their judgment otherwise and side with Paul. My only guess as to why they omitted showing a map in the anime is to encourage using the map shown in the light novel, and thus increase sales. That to me tho is a faint yet bad aftertaste after all that's said and done.

I'm curious if those Reg Dragons flight limitations and the way they move on land are inspired by pterosaurs (aka the Pterodactyl/Pterodactylus belong to this group. I've read they are technically not considered dinosaurs but their own separate group of species). Some of the largest ones were theorized to require having to do cliff jumping and such due to their very large wingspans and size because otherwise their wings would hit the ground so they wouldn't be able to flap them well enough to take off on flat terrain. It might be why they didn't survive the mass extinction event that killed the other dinosaurs and the more bird like dinosaurs survived to the modern age in the form of birds while they went extinct. (that and their large size meant they required a much larger food diet so the harsh conditions meant the smaller bird like ones had the advantage in that department too) So there was ancient creatures of Earth's past that were not much different in how they fly compared to these red dragons and there is a real world example of creatures that have similar flight limitations. A nice little detail and world building! :D

I have an interesting Question. Remember then Orsted said that the family of paul greyrats and Zenith should only have two daughters and no son? As you have might guessed already, its about the two daughters. In the 4th episode we have seen that rudeus has convinced his mother to let Lilia stay and put all the fault onto Paul. So, who would have convinced Zenith if not rudeus? Possibilities are only those for me: -Paul was sad that his child would live as a bastard. That for claimed himself of raping (pretty logical to me, if we remember that he isn't the smartest and could tell that Lilia was tempting him) -Lilia have claimed being raped by Paul (less logical, because they have lived together many years ( I forgot actually how long) ) - Zenith has achieved to forgive them both without any other individual as Rudeus (almost same scenario, but without rudeus) There are also possiblities in which Lilia doesn't stay at the greyrats residence, but i won't like to include that due to being the farest from Kanon. But don't forget that a certain someone could have showed them the way. *Of course its the thief classed friend from the former party "Fangs of the Black wolf"* TbH i think that's new for anime only enjoyers, but since he did some rather suspicious things I think he would be capable to convince zenith. Further more he is that SUS that im already certain he is an apostle (This comment would contain spoilers if I would describe everything like it is, but heck no. Also don't come at me with the brutal fact from the ending of the novel. I already have *JINX* myself by searching the candidates name to an apostle. Hope you enjoyed that last joke there ;D)

I haven't read the LN and WN but been a fan for a long time. As far as I know, the statement "Paul should only has two daughters" means that their son died when they were an infant. As for the reason their son died is because of high magical capacity (as Orsted mention, his magical capacity is on par with Laplace). If Rudeus didn't reincarnated then Zenith will never know the happiness of having a child. That was the main reason Zenith accepted Lilia on their family. Yeah, your third possibility is the correct one but it was because Zenith couldn't handle the guilt of killing another child (Zenith didn't know the cause of their son death).
