When i was new to this channel you were the first person ever that i heard speaking with german accent, and yes, it sounded very different at first, but nowadays i don't even realise it. As a non native english speaker i understand your pain, cause like you said, we do know that our accent is weird, we just can't figure out why. I totally agree. A better measure of “good” English has to do with the size of your vocabulary, your understanding of sentence structure and grammar, ability to use/understand slang. There are probably 50 different “native” English accents across the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, etc. They’re all correct. Accent is not a measure of language proficiency. At least not for English.

Beautiful build but I just wanted to say, never feel bad about your accent! Being multilingual is so cool and an accent is something to be proud of! Being a Brit in Croatia people point out or ask about my accent in Croatian all the time, it's annoying but I know I'm bold enough to learn and use another language so who cares?! I completely forgot about why MY accent sounds like when I speak languages that aren't English. LOL. My Swedish friends have been eternally polite about how utterly awful I sound when I speak Swedish. They wince when I try, because apparently I don't have the cadence right at all, so I just sound LiKE thIS aLL thE TiME. So I mostly just listen to them in Swedish and respond in English.

Your accent is not a problem, the problem comes from the people complaining. You have a very good English and you're able to convey a clear message, so your English is not a problem. I'm an English teacher from a Spanish speaker country and I can tell you that the accent is the least important thing. When I started doing KZbin I had the same doubts, but I ended up understanding that the important thing is to convey the message. We, as non native English speakers, work double trying to translate the words from our native language into English, and that's something that somepeople sometimes don't realize. I really like your accent and I love your content, so please don't feel bad because of those comments.

As an American who was actually born in Germany and has german family members, there is no need to worry about your accent since there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Also English as a second language is hard and your English is really good for a non-English speaker. I know lots of people that would love to know a second language as fluently. Amazing build as always btw. I get so much inspiration for my own zoos just from watching your videos. I know I'm not the only one. Thanks for being you!

Hey Rudi - I just wanted to say I think your accent is great :) I'm an English only speaker and I never have a hard time understanding what you are saying. Also try to remember that language is always imperfect and changing (even though people like to think that their way is the "right way" a lot of the time) - there's no need for them to judge you and certainly no need for you to judge yourself. I can't imagine having to learn my language as a SECOND language so I give major props to you for speaking it as well as you do. I moved from South Africa to America when I was 11. I was constantly told by kids my age that they couldn't understand me because of my accent or made fun of me for the way I pronounced some words. I decided to imitate an American accent and now my South African accent is gone (unless I'm talking to my mom). I wish that I hadn't felt so self-conscious about it because now as an adult, I really love accents (except American ones, lol). Please don't be discouraged by people commenting on your accent. Your English is great and I love hearing you talk in your videos.

First things first: This is an amazingly well done habitat. I especially like the small ‘planters’ for the underwater plants. Makes it so more realistic 👍 Now a few words about your accent: Don’t bother about what others say. I’m German myself and had a hard time in school with English. My teacher in 5th grade actually yelled at me because I couldn’t pronounce ‘th’. The result was that I stopped trying and hated the language. A few years ago I visited London and was really afraid to talk to people. But then I tried and I had so many lovely responses from English natives and nobody cared about my accent. Since then I have experienced that most people don’t care and only some like to point it out to feel clever because they recognise an accent. In my opinion accents aren’t that big of a deal. It’s actually a sign of diversity and it would be so sad if only persons who speak perfect English would communicate with the world. And for a matter of fact, Rudi, your English is better than the English of a lot of other Germans. I worked in some international firms where most of the communication intern and extern is in English and a lot of German professionals who have been in this business for years don’t speak English as good as you do. Your accent is actually very subtle compared to some other people 😊

this is the first of your videos that i've watched but from what i've heard your english is perfectly understandable. anyone trying to make you feel bad about your accent obviously doesn't have anything better to do, and no one should ever feel like it's their place to make fun of someone for mispronouncing a word because all it means is that they learned that word from reading instead of hearing it. as an english speaker who struggled in school to learn german, your multilingual ability is something to be proud of! 🤗

I'm a native English speaker from Canada and I love your accent! I have never struggled to understand you in your videos, and I think that overall your English is quite impressive - a lot better than my French, which is the only other language I know! You do mispronounce things occasionally, but I think it's endearing. Everyone mispronounces things sometimes. I do it too, and I did a degree in English literature! The fact that you can speak more than one language is impressive and who gives a hoot about people who only want to criticize. Also, this is another really amazing build. A+.

As noted yesterday (Guess you know where :)) your english is fine! Speaking English without an accent is hard. I learned it for years in school and still I am better in writing it than in speaking it. Anyway, I try to improve it via watching my favourite TV series/movies in English (with german subtitles in the beginning, if I feel safe enough I watch them without subtitles) and also listening to my favourite english-speaking bands/musicians and googling the lyrics and the meanings helped a lot! Love your Planet Zoo content and all around I really like to listen to your explanations while watching the speedbuilds. Keep it up :)

I think it's disgusting that there are people who parade around complaining about accents. People who speak English as their only language who then complain that an accent is strong have to remember that those whose first language is something else speak at least one WHOLE other language. The fact that you're videos are English for the sake of your audience is considerate and selfless and the fact that you struggle through to make content should be so appreciated. Your English is fabulous, so what if there's a mispronunciation here or there???? I'm sorry but even American English and British English pronounce words differently... Keep up the great work, Rudi. You speak English very well! English has dozens (if not hundreds) of different accents among its native speakers. In the USA there is Southern, Cajun, Boston, Jersey, New York, Mid West, and several others. Not to mention the various accents with the UK and Australia. I actually think that saying "you have a bad accent" is weird in itself. Languages are hard and it's a learning process and knowing a second or even a third - as you said- is so impressive! I think there is nothing bad with hearing that it is not your mother tongue but it actually shows how much work you put into it and discipline to learn languages. Also languages are a form of communication and people clearly understand you and love the content you create! Some people are rude and I am really sorry that you get criticized for it.

Dear Rudi, I have a master's degree in English linguistics. I can assure you that your English is extraordinarily good and it's practically impossible for a speaker to have a native accent if they learned the language after a certain age! You have an entire channel in a language different from your native language and you speak it fluently! Plus, I also worked in several countries in Europe and I can tell you that it is not evident for many Europeans to speak English at your level! Also, very good build AGAIN ;)
