Actually this movie reminds me of the classic sci fi themes which I'm a fan of so its win win for me, and Tom always adds a darker element to each character he plays which is better than the usual likable or comedic type. Edge of Tomorrow, War of the Worlds, Minority Report, call me crazy but I think Tom is the Sci-Fi king and he should do more of these.

I don't know what the production company asked M83 to do for this song. But imagine it was along the lines of: Production Company: "We're making an insane futuristic Sci-Fi movie featuring Tom Cruise. We need you to construct us a song with an EPIC drum pattern, and *INSANE* vocals. Can you do it?" M83: "Pfffft, no problem, we're on it." This song is a masterpiece I personally come back to it all the time.

I personally think this movie is the best sci-fi movie to come out in the last ten years. This wasn't adapted from a comic book, a Tween novel, and is a stand alone movie. I cannot for the life of me think why this movie didn't do better except that audiences are so programmed now for the BIG special effects, action sequences all throughout, etc. This movie even at only 2 hours is what some could call epic. It has a phenomenal soundtrack and the visuals are stunning in every way. Instead of using CGI to make the environment, they used the natural environment with CGI to help complement it. I am not a huge fan of Tom Cruise but he did an excellent job here and why has no one heard of Andrea Riseborough before? She held her own in this film as Victoria. I think as time goes on and more and more people see this it will spread on its own to become a cult classic if nothing else. I noticed that it might not have done as well as hoped at the box office, but when it came out on Blue Ray it was #1. That says something. I think we have gotten too used to big flashy action pictures that are non stop and mindless and when something like this film came along, that made us THINK, most people didn't bother with it. It's a shame because this film is one of those that comes along every so often that just gets to you in a weird way. The more you see it, the more stunning it becomes.

Omar Beydoun Actually Sir, I think you have it backwards. It takes intelligence to see the depth and the meaning of this film. Actors are not meant to carry a film unless it has no content. This film says so much more than you seem to realize or notice. Perhaps you might consider watching it again but try to watch from a different perspective to possibly see what you may have missed throughout. One thing it could have done without was the damn southern drawl of the controller woman. THAT was hard to listen to...but, as it turns out, all this is a fiction created by the alien race who apparently got carried away with creating her. Soooo yeah. Peace!

This movie is amazing. A huge masterpiece. I was only able to appreciate this movie on second viewing after watching the deleted scenes (eg with the medkit) and while taking notes. Even during the opening monologue alone, they gave us a vital part of the storyline, not some throwaway exposition background which I interpreted as such in my first viewing. There are so many beautiful shots in this movie too, with great contrasting undertones. Joseph Kransinki is a phenomenal director and I look forward to him directing Top Gun: Maverick.

breathtaking and beautiful "Oblivion" (feat. Susanne Sundfør) Since I was young, I knew I'd find you But our love was a song sung by a dying swan And in the night, you hear me calling You hear me calling And in your dreams you see me falling, falling Breathe in the light I'll stay here in the shadow Waiting for a sign, as the tide grows Higher, and higher, and higher And when the nights are long All those stars recall your goodbye, your goodbye And in the night you'll hear me calling You'll hear me calling And in your dreams you'll see us falling, falling And in the night you'll hear me calling You'll hear me calling And in your dreams you'll see us falling, falling Breathe in the light and say goodbye Breathe in the light and say goodbye

Came here because of Floor Jansen´s cover - great song, and the original singer is awesome, too!

I remember when I was a kid I saw the cover of this movie in the cinema. I wanted to go, but they wouldn't let me in because I was still small. And the cover was so beautiful, this post-apocalyptic landscape attracted me to... And now, in 2020, I've finally seen this movie. And I don't regret it. Magnificent mesmerizing landscape, which is impossible to see and want to visit it itself, A beautiful musical accompaniment, touching the soul and giving the opportunity to fully plunge into this doomed world of the future with a head, and an interesting ambiguous plot with a hidden meaning. From now on, Oblivion is on my favorite movies.
