Ich habe sein Kampfbericht von Prochorowka gelesen. Er war ein guter Panzerkommandant, aber er hatte echt Glück davongekommen zu sein. Da war ein Moment wo er mit sein Pz 4 komplett isoliert war....unglaublich das er die deutschen Stellungen noch erreichen konnte.

I hope, to German speakers, that the request for an English translation is not a position of arrogance, or aloofness. It's just that the man has an interesting story to tell. Also, many German people speak good English and I've never needed to use my little knowledge of German when visiting Germany, meeting friendly German people!!

A couple do. There is even a living Major of the general staff alive today. Karl-Günther von Hase. And I'm sure, if you check out the retirement communities in Germany, you'll find some left. Men in Germany ,born before 1928, got drafted into the various services. The SS division "Hitlerjugend" was build out of men born in 1926. They fought on the western front.

Dear Elizabeth, Rudolf has written a very interesting book: "Mein Vater Joachim von Ribbentrop", Erlebnisse und Erinnerungen. I don't know, if there is an english book, too. @@WilloSNoack Die Sowjetunion erhielt natürlich auch jede Menge Unterstützung und Waffen von den USA. Die Nachschubwege waren zu lang, der Winter usw. usw. Es gibt viele Gründe für den verlorenen Krieg. Die Nazis waren ja trotz aller Anfangserfolge Dilettanten. Aber nicht nur Deutschland wollte den Krieg gegen die Sowjetunion ! Die Nazis waren willkommene Schachfiguren in einem Spiel um die Weltmacht. Ein großes Thema !

@@wolfgang4078 Von Juni bis Oktober 1941 hatte die Rote Sovjetarmee wegen Stalins Säuberungen bei dessen Offizieren zu wenig fähige Kommandeure und erlitt trotz personeller und materieller Überlegenheit schwere Niederlagen. Den fähigsten Kommandeur, Marschall Schukow, hatte Stalin nach Fernost geschickt und holte ihn im November beim Angriff der Wehrmacht auf Moskau an die Westfront. Erst nach Hitlers Überfall holte Stalin einge in den Gulags noch lebende verurteilte Kommandeure wie Rokossowski und Wlassow wieder in die Armee zurück. Diese Leute führten die Sowjetischen Soldaten mit ausreichendem Sachverstand. Die USA sandten der UdSSR bereits an Juli 1941, lange vor ihrem Eintritt in den 2. Weltkrieg Waffen und militärische Ausrüstung.

@@WilloSNoack Nicht zu vergessen sind die politischen Kommissare und die eigenen MG`s im Rücken beim Angriff auf deutsche Stellungen. Die USA ließen Stalin die " Drecksarbeit" machen, um die eigenen Boys zu schonen. Anschließend wurde der Kuchen geteilt. Sehr schnell nach Kriegsende wurde ja deutlich, dass die Sowjetunion, und damit der Kommunismus, auch der Feind der USA war. Nur Churchill hatte sich verspekuliert, England war ja auch ein Verlierer des WK II. Die bipolare Welt war entstanden und hatte ihre Gültigkeit bis 1990. In der Politik gibt es keine Zufälle, die Sowjetunion " stört " immer noch die finale Weltregierung !
