Rudolph Valentino's Voice

A documentary style educational video in which I try to recreate or imagine Rudolph Valentino's speaking voice using interviews with his brother Alberto and nephew Jean, and his songs as a reference point. The dialogue I have created is very short; it was both a challenging and fun project. I have also used a snippet of Kashmiri Love Song which Valentino recorded for fun.

Some of the silent movie stars didn't speak English, and some spoke with very heavy accents. While others had voices that studio execs felt weren't right for films with sound. A lot of people were out of work for those very reasons. I can't imagine what that was like. That's Hollywood.

There is a definite physical resemblance between Valentino and his nephew. There have always been rumours that he was actually the boy's father.

A compelling case of circumstantial evidence was introduced that may well stand up in a court of law ... however, I'm sitting on the fence on this one because I can refute or challenge some of the points raised ... the Valentino family vehemently refute the claim ... I guess we'll never really know ... but there are also claims and some evidence that he did sire a son, whose mother was of mixed race. This is in the early French language biography of Valentino written by Jean DeRequeville (not sure the spelling is correct). Valentino certainly left us many mysteries in his life that are utterly fascinating in themselves. Contradictions abound! I certainly part of the fun of being a Valentino fan.

@@camarmena Rumours surfaced in Italy from a very old man (though still too young to have actually known Valentino) who came from the area Rudy lived before he left Italy ... that at the age of 17 he was cuckolding a gentleman with both his wife and his daughter - having an affair with both of them - the scandal of this caused such a blackening of his name that he would never find a wife of good name in his hometown. Valentino never admitted to such an affair - however in a press interview he did admit that he had fallen in love with ladies that were the age of his own mother and it had caused her much sorrow. He also admitted that at that age he had been a lothario and would not have been able to marry a good catholic girl because of his reputation at that time. The real reason he left Italy isn't known for sure but there seems to be some truth in the rumour that his reputation played a part in his having to leave - for the sake of the good name of his family.

I agree. I’ve always been curious about how we would know someone was really hot back in the days before we’d ever likely actually hear them speak. Rudolph Valentino as we all know and feel died much to young 💔 so sad. He had so much more to live for. I feel that if Rudolph would have survived he would have done so much more with his career. Eventually when talking movies came along and his being so creative as a designer and director. He had so much passion and feelings for animals such an animal lover and his love for children. I would hope he would Eventually marry again and start a family that we all know he wanted so very much. Although I did not know him personally just by watching him and some of his writings he was a very kind and loving young man his love for his family he was very family oriented it was in his blood. I am sure as so many he had his moments with women after all he was very handsome a gentleman. I really do feel that his first love was and always will be to me is Natasha. ❤️ I have not seen any bad things that were said about him. Alot of men were very jealous of his handsome looks and being so romantic with his beautiful dark skin and dark eyes. He was one of a kind and he was so very misunderstood so sad. He had a sadness about him and at the same time so much kindness to. 💕 As the saying goes "when they made Rudolph Valentino they threw away the mold" I loved the way his eyes would show so much feeling and emotion his big beautiful eyes would open so wide and squint the next moment he was born to be a star he was a legend in his own time such an icon a shining star. We all know Rudy will always be remembered and never ever forgotten. Much love hugs and prayers. ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹

The Kashmiri Love Song was his favorite song from what I read. He actually did take a few vocal lessons....His nephew looks a lot like him! There is a part of the (Kashmiri Love Song) UPDATE...meant "EL Relicario" ... in which he stops singing and reverts to a more spoken lyric...very short bit....One can only say that he did not have a high, thin speaking voice! I believe it was Gloria Swanson who said he had a lilt to his voice, that it was "Continental' but there was no heavy Italian accent....

There's a big chance he had a similar voice as his brother. Someone said he had a slight Italian accent, but they thought he probably could have successfully switched to talkies. It would have been so ironic his real voice might have got him tough guys roles. I don't mean that to disrespect anyone. But Rudolph Valentino was described as likeable and I was thinking how ironic if he'd had a tough guy voice that got him type cast as tough guys once talkies began. I heard he was fond of children and that he babysat the movie crew's kids on one of his films why the crew went to dinner. I heard he worked hard and wanted to be a good actor. Valentino basically seems like a good guy from what I've read. I think he would have been getting the roles actors like Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino got in the 70's and 80's. Its amazing nearly a 100 years after his death we're still talking about him. He's very fascinating

Fun Fact: The Brad Pitt of the 1920's had a wife named Natasha who was a huge spiritualist. The movie scripts he brought on set and given to the director came from his wife Natasha who would hold a seance every night calling forth help from the spirit world in her creative undertaking. Then pencil in hand she would go into a trance and begin writing. So in other words, the movies you see him in were literally handed over from the demonic realm.
