@0:05 "Shma Israel" prayer. @00:13 need to find what the aim is. The image and the vision for "Am Israel" (nation of Israel AKA people of Israel = this is in the Torah, refers to Jews). It's not for me that there is "Tshuva" (tshuva = answer/reply or repentance).. (sorry, a lot of these words are contextual to Jews). @00:18 and even when we find this thing, really we can continue forward Because the part (chapter) of "Am Israel" that we hoped is last, It was Zionism, to return to Zion, to Jerusalem. And we did it already, now what chapter will come? @00:34 (ech korim lecha 😁 he says this in English =) what's your name? Rudi Now we want to be upwards, not here. Right "Bezrat Hashem" (G-d willing) The third "Beit haMikdash" soon (Jewish Temple, on Temple Mount)- (the first two were destroyed by invaders) Rudi: right We forgot that we pray to the wall (Western Wall aka The Kottel) 00:44 so it's not the part to come to the wall it's the part to know the place, but to know where we need to continue forward after it 00:50 Achi (slang = dude/bro) can you turn? You recognise it? From instagram, sure. From instagram? Everyone knows it. He's a big advocate for, for the Jewish people . He tries to bring peace And I've seen a lot of videos where Rudi is talking to people.. (this is in English @1:00) 1:24 the videos of Rudi Rochman* (written as Rudi Rushman), Jewish, age 27, went to the prestigious Colombia university.. Became a network phenomenon in recent years that almost all Jewish American youth know. 1:35 (English) 1:41 he turns around anti-Israel protests around the US, and fights in a unique way 1:48 (English) 1:56 he listens, speaks, and tries to come to a real discussion and matters even with our biggest differences BDS supporters: "how a Jew from Europe or Brooklyn.. (English) 2:14 anti-Zionist Jews (neturei karta, they are also anti-Semitic but that's not said in this piece) 2:15 look me in the eyes, I am a Jew that speaks with a Jew. I'm your brother, I'm not looking a Zionist in the eye. And even neo-Nazis. @2:23 (English) 2:33 he doesn't always succeeded in convincing 2:35 (donkey 😁)/ Ass (that's what's written, I couldn't hear what was said) 2:36 so now you start with the insults (English...) 2:40 but not once does he not succeed in breaking the walls 2:42 habibi (Arabic slang used in Israel = my friend) English.... Rudi: be'ezrat Hashem (G-d willing). 2:53 my dude, dear bro (slang) A year and a half ago, Rudi moved to Israel with his family and they live in Tel Aviv. 3:00 everyone changed here.. Because we grew, grew a little bit... Yes! 3:03 with members of the 10st battalion (paratroopers) (I had to look this up, I'll have to confirm this is right) He sees a second family 3:07 okay, so l'Chaim, l'chaim (l'chaim = to life, this is the Jewish equivalent of "cheers" or "sláinte" or "yassou"). 3:11 Rudi, the first word that he learnt from me is "combina" (slang: under the table/creative solution to a problem/off the record) And since then he is blossoming. (announcer) 3:17, In the military he was a "Lone Soldier" (This is what a soldier who is not drafted but comes to serve in the Israeli Military when it's not an Israeli citizen who is living in Israel with his family, see: israelforever.org/programs/thelonesoldierproject/ ) and he was released shortly before Miv'tsa Tsuk Eitan (Operation Protective Edge). 3:22 Summer of 2014, Tsuk Eitan (50 day Operation in the Gaza Strip after the terrorists fired rockets into civilian populations into Israel) received a telephone call from us "listen I'm coming, i'm going in" how? what? you are a citizen... you.. how will you do this? "i'm going, i'm going, don't worry" 3:36 I said: what, Rudi, What are you doing? are you going to purchase equipment on eBay? how are you coming? "i'm coming, i'm coming to you" 3:42 He can sit down and do these posts from the beautiful pier that he has in Miami, in his yard. He has given up a very comfortable life and he comes and does this. so you can come and speak about things. but without feeling them, without living this thing in truth. It's not the same thing. 4:04 we went around the old city (Jerusalem), and found at the heart of the conflict, that Rudi dedicates his life to promoting a solution. Speaking Hebrew? Rudi: Yes? so we have discussions like this in the street, between Jews and Arabs. 4:16 now, I have work now, ah okay, fine. Good luck at work. 4:20 American students that recognised him immediately, and asked to take a picture together. (English) 5:01 You'll do good, you'll do good, Sir. You can say this better, but OKay, I tell you more pleasantly twice. 5:08 (we/they - this is like "in general it is said that" ) say Jews in the middle of the road here, blocking it. we speak about equality, about brotherhood, and about needing dialogue and it's... when we are not successful in creating dialogue even if one Arab lives here... he's angry here. On pins and needles.. Just waiting... because we block ... (the entrance to) his store 5:27 (more later).I

Yes, it's where it starts. Although from what I hear you saying (not only in this video) is a bit paradoxical and incoherent especially if you normalize the victim/aggressor discourse. I agree with your peaceful approach, but your (inevitable) American cultural background comes through, and you carry out a romanticized and a bit ignorant perspective that needs a deeper listening to where you're situated and with whom you interact. I will even dare say that this approach is colonial. I hope you don't get offended because I do believe in your method. I just think it's a bit disconnected from the current climate of Israel and Palestine. All the best.

@guywhousesapseudonymonyout4272
@guywhousesapseudonymonyout4272 3 жыл бұрын
It's been common for a long time for many Israeli programs, including, usually, most news shows to be captioned (1) because a lot of Israelis of immigrant background don't have Hebrew as their first language and it helps them improve and (2) it also helps hearing-impaired people or (3) hearing-impaired people who don't have Hebrew as their first language. I actually have Hebrew as my first language, and I'm not hearing impaired, but I was born and raised mostly in the USA to Israeli parents (raised in America but we spoke mostly Hebrew at home). Still, when people speak Hebrew fast on TV I don't always catch everything, and coming from an American educational background there are some vocabulary words I don't know, so I appreciate reading the captions. For that matter, I usually turn on the captions when I watch English-language shows too, even though my hearing is pretty good, if there is background noise, etc. I always prefer to have the captions on. The only time I hate reading captions is when, sometimes, they do a crappy job of subtitling, sometimes it is all garbled, that's when I turn it off. But in Israel it is just on all the time most of the time.
@subchan6595
@subchan6595 3 жыл бұрын
@@guywhousesapseudonymonyout4272 got it - thanks. I struggle with Hebrew so much. My take away from what you said, is that if you, who grew up with Israeli parents speaking Hebrew at home still at times struggle to understand qucikly spoken Hebrew by sabras , what chance do I have ?
@guywhousesapseudonymonyout4272
@guywhousesapseudonymonyout4272 3 жыл бұрын
@@subchan6595 That shouldn't be your takeaway. You can always improve and perfect your Hebrew and you can do so with any language. I also generally am in the habit of turning on the closed captions for English too, as I stated before, just it helps me catch all the dialogue when there's background noise or different characters talking over each other. And yeah, my Hebrew is quite good, but like I said, I was raised in the States. I went to yeshiva day schools too, where we learned religious Hebrew as opposed to modern Hebrew, at home we spoke modern Hebrew but the Hebrew we spoke at home was also mixed with English as my parents had already lived in the US for a few years before I was born. Also , my late father (Z"L) was a sabra, my mother is not (she was born in Hungary), so her Hebrew was also always less than perfect. But Israeli TV channels probably caption their content due to the high population of olim hadashim who have Russian, French, Amharic and other languages as their first language, not to mention Israeli Arabs. I can remember that most Hebrew shows were even captioned in Hebrew even back in the 1970s (I lived in Israel as a kid from 1977-1979 when our family went back for two years) . At least today the captions are more clear to read, because I can remember they used to be crappy, like white on a white background!
@rockysandman5489
@rockysandman5489 3 жыл бұрын
@@guywhousesapseudonymonyout4272 Subtitles for the same language that is spoken is something that started in the US in the 80's or 90's, and researchers found that it significantly improves the literacy of the viewers, so it became popular and was adapted by other countries. Most Israeli programs have adapted this and by the 2000's, it appears harder to find an Israeli show without subtitles.
@guywhousesapseudonymonyout4272
@guywhousesapseudonymonyout4272 3 жыл бұрын
@@rockysandman5489 In the USA, the subtitles were introduced in the 1970s and the original intent was for hearing impaired viewers. Also, back then people had to buy a special device to attach to their television sets so they could read the closed captions; it was only much later, in the 1990s, that newer TV sets sold had the option to show captioning built in. In the USA, closed captioning can be turned on or off with the remote. In Israel, the captioned subtitles are usually part of the show whether or not someone turns them on or not, and it was like this since at least the 1970s, as far as I recall (TV was only introduced to Israel in the late 1960s). Most Americans who I know who don't actually need to read the subtitles because they have bad hearing actually prefer to have them off and usually they say it distracts from them enjoying the show. (I'm the opposite, I like them, as long as the captioning is good, sometimes there are mistakes.) But Israelis are used to it and have seen it on most of their programs since way back in the 1970s, much earlier than the 200s. You can see historical programs from back then here on KZbin; even most of the Hebrew shows have Hebrew subtitles.

That American girl seems conflicted and represents a big problem in the mindset of some of the young millenials in America today who consider themselves do godders for protesting this and that. I have NEVER SEEN ANY ACTIVISTS in ANY of Rudy videos make such a convincing point or points based on a superior knowledge base re the Arab Israel conflict. Not one point in any video and like Rudy said , he has debated Noam Chomsky, Arab activists, all well informed. Her mindset seems to be INSIDE AND SUPPORTIVE of the the American college system liberal activist mindset because as far as I have only ever seen Rudy completely shatter all responses to him by using nothing by historical fact and truth. Not saying there is no room for debate but I would really like to see examples of what she is talking about ......
